"A what?" I stared at him blankly. "Well, while being knocked out and kidnapped by a stranger has been soooo much fun, I'm going to go back to my dorm now. Bye." I got up on slightly shaky legs as my head swam, almost toppling over. Donovan was by my side in an instant, grabbing my arm to stop me from toppling over. He gave me some sort of a shot in my arm that stung slightly, but right away my head felt clearer. He walked back a couple steps and turned to face me with a flourish.
"Miss Elizabeth Knight, I must insist you not move until I have completed my message and until the shot I just gave you has had time to take effect," he said in a business type voice, as if this was just another day at the office. "It is my job to see to it that you are brought to the planet Artemis unharmed and in a timely manner."
"What are you talking about?" I must have hit my head harder than I thought. Now this stranger was talking about bringing me to another planet?
"You have been chosen by the the powers that be to take on a grand quest in the name of earth. You have been selected from many promising candidates, but they saw something special in you, so you were the one who was chosen. Any questions?" He said in a grand voice.
My mouth hung open slightly as I gazed at him with disbelief. I was the chosen one? He let me stare blankly at him for a few more seconds before he burst out laughing.
"Haha -- y-you actually believed that?" He was laughing so hard, it was hard for him to get the words out. "The look on your face is priceless."
"What exactly, could possibly be so hilarious about this?!" I practically yelled at him.
"Sorry to break it to you darling but you were randomly selected out of all the people on earth to fulfill earth's required candidate to attend Mageia Academy on Artemis." All pretence of his diplomatic business demeanor was gone. "I'll give you 15 minutes to pack a small bag. Go. Now." His tone left no room for argument.
"I haven't agreed to anything" I said back defensively.
"You're down to 14 minutes now, or I can take you now with nothing. And don't bother trying to scream or call anyone, I've cast a barrier around you that prevents you from having any contact with anyone other than me. So chop chop." He sat down on a chair and pulled out some sort of a tablet device. "The barrier also tells me exactly where you are so there's no use trying to run either. Hurry up, you're at 13 minutes now."
