Chapter 1 - Chapter One

I stared out at the gates of the most powerful camp to ever exist. A place of supernatural. People went from every part of the world just to come here and learn to use their magic. I watched another set of waggons drove up next to the gates and I crouched down, watching the gates open for them. I had to get into those waggons to enter this magic camp.

Sliding down the steep hill, I left the safety of the woods and crouched behind the bushes near the pathway. Through the back of the waggons I could see a few girls, some holding on tight to their stuff, while others were whispering to the others about who knows what.

There was this one girl who seemed very focused, staring into nothingness then her head lifted as if she was shocked about something. In horror, I watched her head turn in my direction and I sunk back into the bushes. I was spotted!

I would have to wait for the next batch of waggons. How could I sneak onto the one where a girl already saw me?

Now I could see it. She was an elf. Her ears were pointy and stuck out of her long white hair. I gulped and scanned the rest of the area.

I could somehow get passed the guards without needing a waggon but it would be difficult because of their trainings. They had to be very powerful to be incharge of such a serious job.

No, I need to do it now. If I don't get on that waggon I might be spotted before the next set.

So gaining as much courage as I could, I jumped out of the bushes, holding tight onto my brown bag and sprinting onto the path. The girl just watched as I reached on to the waggons outside handle and attempted to pull myself up. The girl then laid her hand on mine and helped me up just in time as the waggon went passed the gate.

I was in! This was perfect.

I looked at the elf girl, "You helped me. Why?"I questioned.

She shrugged, "You looked like you really wanted onto the waggon. Plus, you aren't the first person to want to sneak into the camp. The only question is why didn't you just pay to enter the camp? Won't they find out you're not on the list?"

I sighed, "I couldn't find the money and I need this. Plus," I paused, "I'll just sneak into the main cabin and write my name on the list. When I'm done with the camp, they won't even know someone snuck in."

The girl didn't look so sure, "I don't know. The headmaster is very hard to trick. He does his research on everyone before they even board the waggons." She stated.

"I know." I nodded, "But a spell can make him think he did see information about me." I continued, "As long as no one else knows of what I'm doing then I'll be alright."

"Spell? So you're a witch." She concluded.

"Yep. What, never heard of one before?" I gave a sly smile, leaning against the wooden wall of the waggon, hearing the laughter of the other woman who were speaking of something else.

"Well, of course I've heard of them. It's just that I haven't seen one in my entire life. I had just thought they lived in the foggy snow plains because it's easier to hide from people." She explained, "So I would have never expected seeing one in the middle of summer all the way out in the mountains."

I nodded, "You are correct. But I don't have a choice. Unless I want to grow up with power that I can't control."

"Huh." She turned her head back to the front where the waggon was coming to a stop.

This was it. I was finally in the most expensive and powerful camp in the world. Everyone knew about it, barely anyone could make it to the camp alive. If you did, you would be dead before you left. Unless you were strong enough to survive. Killing was allowed.

A place where if you're not strong enough you're killed. Sounds like fun for someone like me. I could get into some exciting fights. But I won't lose. Even if I had to kill someone I'm friends with. If I made friends.

So, this is where I begin.
