Chapter 11: Kate
Kate went to town and got all the things she needed for her cabin. The cabin was in the middle of nowhere' it was a peaceful place to gather her thoughts. Being out there made her feel a lot better. Although her heart was still broken, it could start healing out there. When her Aunt and Uncle called, they told her that John was looking for her and that he felt really bad for what James has done and wanted to talk to her. Kate didn't feel like talking to anyone because she was still depressed about what had happened. She didn't blame John for how James acted, in fact, she always thought John was a good person.
There was a gate leading up to the cabin so nobody could get in without calling. Kate carried her phone with her, and the cabin also had a phone. She kept in touch with her Aunt and Uncle to let them know how she was doing. The TV didn't have cable, so Kate watched DVDs and read the books she had brought with her. She also enjoyed swimming in the lake. She didn't have to worry about dangerous animals in the water; only snakes. Swimming helped Kate to not think about the sadness. Kate called Sara but the call went to voicemail and she left a message.
When it rained, Kate read and watched TV then went to bed. She hoped the storms would stop and they finally did, but it was cloudy outside. The following day, Kate went to town to rent a movie. The town people were very friendly, but she kept to herself. Once back home, she made a sandwich and watched the movies. Kate went to bed late and woke up late and the sun was up. It was very hot, so she turned on the air conditioner and made some sweet iced tea then looked at her Facebook page. Kate saw that John had sent her a message saying he really needed to talk to her.
Kate thought about John's message but couldn't figure out what he wanted so decided to wait until she returned home to get in touch with him. She went hiking up the mountain when the sun went down. It was beautiful on the mountain; it had a cave with crystals in it. Kate was surprised to find a diamond rock and a gold coin which she decided to give to John when she went home. Later, she went to town and got an iced mocha. When she returned to the cabin, she saw both John and Sara waiting for her.
"What are you guys doing here and how did you find me?" Kate asked. "You left a lot of clues in your apartment," Sara answered. "Kate, I really need to talk to you," John replied. "I will leave you two alone," Sara said walking into the cabin. "What do you want John?" Kate asked. "I was the one writing the letters," John replied. "What! Why would you do such a thing!" Kate yelled. "I didn't mean to hurt you, I knew how much you cared for James and I wanted to spare you from getting hurt by him," John replied. "I did get hurt. Why didn't you just tell me you were the one writing the letters?" Kate questioned. "I was a coward and I didn't think you would ever look at me the way you look at James. I was in love with you since I first met you," John countered. "I should be angry with you John, but I know in my heart you never meant any harm. I just wish you would have told me the truth. I have been in love with you too John and I just never thought you would ever look at me. I wanted a boyfriend so badly and I thought James had feelings for me," Kate replied.
John and Sara stayed at the cabin with Kate and they all went swimming. Kate made a big dinner for them. The next night Sara went to town leaving John and Kate alone. "I have been wanted time alone with you since we met, will you marry me?" John asked. Kate couldn't speak for a while, then said yes. She and John kissed and told Sara as soon as she returned to the cabin. Kate couldn't wait to tell her Aunt and Uncle so the following day she went home. John had already told his Aunt and Uncle.
Back in England
James hadn't understood why John didn't answer his phone calls. He thought about calling Kate because he felt badly for the way he treated her. His parents had forgiven him for what he had done, and James noticed that they seem happy. "Why are you guys so happy today?" James asked his parents. Your cousin John and Kate are getting married," James' father answered. "Over my dead body," James replied angrily and left before his parents were able to respond to his comment.
Alex also found out that Kate and John were getting married. Alex was blinded with anger. Alex's brother Mark came in. "What is the matter with you?" Mark asked Alex. "Kate is marrying John, but I am going to do everything in my power to stop this wedding from happening. Kate is going to marry me even if I have to force her to be my wife!" Alex answered angrily.
Jill heard the news as well and was angry. She decided to do everything in her power steal John away from Kate. She knew if she had the help of James and Alex, she had a good chance of doing it.
