Because of the sudden heat, we walked slower and slower toward the other room.
All this time we were heading into the depths of the planet, and I knew it. First, this biome would be at least two thousand kilometres underground. And now, with all the descent through the pyramid, who knows what altitude we're at.
Although the heat hadn't been a problem so far, it suddenly became unbearable as we approached the next room. It was as if it was 50° down there. Everyone was sweating, but none of us stopped.
I'd to put up a wall in front of us to contain the heat wave a little. But that still wasn't enough, so I built a kind of fan in front of the wall to cool us down. Since we'd no power source, I'd to move the fan with my powers.
Finally, after a while, we arrived at the next room and I understood why the heat was so unbearable. In front of us was a hole like in the Scorpion Room, but this time it was full of lava.
How are we going to cross it? Even if I build a bridge, the temperature of the lava is too high for us.
[Just make everything lower so the heat of the lava can't reach you], I heard Eyva say.
Oh yes, I can do that. But will the gorvium withstand the temperature?
[It'll.]
Oh yes, I always forget that Eyva can read my mind. I've to stop talking out loud when I talk to her.
[Yeah, you should.]
A-anyway, let's get to work.
I touched the ground and let my black liquid flow through the cracks in the ground to the bottom of the hole. It wasn't as deep as I thought it would be. But it's better for me. I let the ground collapse underneath the hole until the lava was deep enough that it wouldn't affect us.
Then I built a small bridge, which we all crossed and continued our way to the central room.
It wasn't far from the previous room, but we still walked for some time. I looked behind and saw that the others, except Ayuri, seemed a little tired, but they didn't say anything.
I wanted to finish our little adventure as soon as possible, because we didn't even have anything to eat with us and we'd been in this place for quite a while.
After a while, we finally reached the central room. As soon as we entered, the lights came on. And this time they weren't torches, but some kind of light that came from the ceiling and was like the light of the sun.
The room was circular and on the walls there were inscriptions with strange letters. But that wasn't what made us shiver. Looking to my right, I saw a kind of throne, majestic by the way, and on it sat some kind of strange creature. Although the flesh had melted, you could clearly see that the skeleton was still intact.
The skeleton was made of the same material as the pyramid. But what impressed me the most was the head. It wasn't like ours, but like the skull that the aliens have in the movies.
I was a little scared, but impressed at the same time. It was the first time I'd seen something like that. I've seen a lot of strange things this year, but never anything like this.
Even though it was certainly dead, I felt like it was staring at me the whole time.
I touched it to analyse it because I wanted to be sure about something.
[Analysis in progress...]
[Completed.]
[Skeletal material: Shinerstone]
Shit, that means the whole pyramid is made of the same material as this skeleton.
[You could also say that many were sacrificed to build this pyramid," Eyva said in a playful tone.
(You're not helping me at all, you know that).
The others were still so amazed at the sight of the alien that they didn't make a single sound the whole time. Except for Ayuri, who was just wandering around.
(Eyva, can you translate this inscription written on the wall?)
[I can, but you've to get in touch with the letters].
(All right.)
I put my hand on the wall and heard Eyva's voice translating the letters.
[Aahjong research ship 21q.]
[System data operational.]
[Ship's generator damaged.]
[Ship's protective shields down.]
[Haul integrity at 30%]
[Beacon assembly successful.]
[Signal will reach its destination in 9,999,999,999 years].
[Data stored in HUD.]
What was that?
[To learn more, we apparently need to check HUD ].
( Do you know where that is?)
[No, but try this button on the alien's throne].
I didn't even realise there was a button there. I went closer and pressed it. A blue hologram appeared with the same font as the inscriptions before.
I asked the others to come to me to tell them what exactly Eyva was going to translate.
[We've arrived at this rock you told us about. But why do you want to create a new life form on this planet? Oh, you want to feed our kind with them. Okay, understandable, but why on a planet so far away? We can create them on our planet as well. Even with that answer, I still don't understand the why. Anyway, we'll just do it].
( Wait, that's it?)
[Let me continue.]
[Well, it seems that the seeds you have given us are working well. But are we sure that our kind will be alright by eating those animals? Oh? So we are waiting for them to turn into something else? Okay, let us wait and see]
[Damn, you were right. After a few years, they actually evolved and got even bigger. Those lizards will be enough for us to feed on].
[Shit, our ship was hit by a meteorite. We are going to crash, everyone hold on tight].
[Fortunately, we somehow managed to survive. The ship is almost completely destroyed. I don't think we will be able to fly again. And I don't think that the life on this planet survived the meteor impact. We will wait and see. In the meantime, we will try to repair the ship].
[We have tried to repair it, but it seems that we are stuck here. But it seems that the life on this planet has found a way to survive somehow.]
[The core of the ship is on the verge of meltdown, we need to fix it quickly].
[Fortunately we were able to stabilize the core, otherwise the whole planet would have been destroyed].
[There are some strange animals running around on the surface of the planet now. They look like us, but they are much dumber.]
[Our ship has detected another meteorite impact that will occur in a few years. I do not think these animals will survive this time].
[We had to build a pyramid with our bodies to protect the ship from the meteorite impact. I hope my crew did not sacrifice their lives in vain. You better come here and start harvesting these animals, because they survived the meteorite again. I am opening the beacon. It will take a long time for the signal to arrive, but that's more time for the animals to reproduce."]
[These are my last words: Beware of them. According to the ship's computer, there will be some kind of mutation in these animals. They are dangerous. And I hope no one finds the evolutionary material in the locker, or this will be the end for this solar system. I wish you all good luck. Captain out.]
[End of Captain's Log.]
I scrolled a little further and saw a message flash in green light.
[Signal has arrived.]
And below it were just three words.
[We are coming.]
I turned to the others, who were standing there with their mouths open, and said, "What the f..."
