LANDON CHAMBERS-
I felt bad for reacting like that. God, Siya deserves better. I know that Siya won't ever backstab me but just the fact that something that happened with Jimmy can bring out that kind of reaction in me shows that I am still not emotionally stable.
Siya really deserves better.
Even after last week, I left her at her house without a proper goodbye, she kissed me on my cheek and gave me my space. If I played such a game with any other woman, she would have left me by now or thrown a huge fit. But Siya is always trying to understand me, knowing that I might have some irreparable childhood damage.
But I am glad we ended it before things got too serious, like one of us saying I love you. I don't think we ever need to confess our love, I know that she loves me and I am sure that she knows that I love her. I am just not right for her.
I was on the kitchen counter hating myself and my life when the doorbell rang, I knew it wasn't Siya because she knows it's over but a little part of me wished that it would be.
I open the door and I groan, "Grandma, No, please not another lecture. I did what was right, I don't even understand how you guys got to know." I protest but Grandma and a pregnant Elizabeth pushes past me to enter my house.
I groan again as I close the door behind me knowing that I have to listen to them endlessly crib about Siya, her perfect 'choice' for me.
"We are not here to make you understand, we are here to see how you are doing." Elizabeth says as she sits down on the couch in the living area. Grandma hugs me tight, I roll my eyes but hug her back. As much as I hate to admit it, I loved it when grandma hugged me, because it was the only happy time in my childhood when I used to escape the wrath of my stepfather and stepbrother and spend the summer vacation peacefully with my grandparents. They showered me with love and affection, I hated going back home after that. I used to be jealous of Nathan who got to stay with grandma every day.
We all sat down, as Dorota brought coffee for everyone, "So you guys are here to cheer me up and not tell me how dumb I was to breakup with her?"
"No sweetheart, that is for you to figure out, you know how stupid your decision is, you are a smart boy. I actually am here to ask you for a favour."
"Okay." I look at her with confusion, because she is the one person who is so independent, I have never seen her ask people for favours. People always need her help.
"I need you to go to London and settle an ongoing dispute over a land we purchased many years ago. It's a weeklong trip, you'll get to enjoy yourself too, and you'll get over this breakup." She explains and I roll my eyes.
"No thank you, also I can't leave, I have an important thing to figure out here in Jimmy's case. I have to prove his innocence." I explain.
"Yes I know and I will help you with that." She says as she start collecting my case files.
"Wait, you are saying you'll find the proofs and give them to me?" I ask her and she just nods. I know as a lawyer I should question her, because she might do something illegal to find those proofs but I won't. I will have to resort to the old technique in the book which is somebody left a file at my doorstep which had all proofs.
Everyone in my family had stopped questioning grandma after she landed Benjamin and Katrine in jail on her own. I guess a trip to London might help me take my mind off Siya. Also I miss corporate cases, they are so much easier to solve.
"Fine, I'll go, send me the case files regarding the properties, I want to go over them before I reach London." I say before I head to my office to collect all Jimmy's case files and give them to grandma.
I look over to see grandma and Elizabeth beaming at each other.
Oh god! Something is up, for sure.
Siya Rains
"Stop trying to destroy my life! Siya, you are the worst person ever. I finally found someone and you don't want me to have that." Analia screamed at me and I just stared at her.
She moved in a week ago and it's been hell, we always fight whenever she is going out to meet Paul. Now she wants to bring him in my home to 'hang out'.
"Analia, are you blind? He is being prosecuted for being drunk and beating the life out of a man! Also I told you what he said to me in the courthouse!" I try to reason with her but she shakes her head no.
"Paul is a sweet man, he told me Landon is doing this, so that he can get Paul's companies. Also I know you are lying about the courthouse, Paul would never say that!" She exclaims and I just look at her with disbelief.
"What companies? Landon has way more money than Paul, why would he do that? And seriously you believe a stranger over your own sister." My voice creaks as I never expected that I would ever have to ask this question in my life.
"Just because you don't have Landon anymore, you don't want me to have Paul, I know it!" She yells at me and it stings, Landon's name stung. I don't know how I'll ever get over him.
"Fine, date him but you are not allowed to bring him here! Why do you even want to bring him here? His place is probably bigger and better." I ask her knowing the answer, he wants to come here and play around with my sister in front of me.
Sick bastard.
"He insisted, he wants to see my home. He is very sweet, he says it doesn't bother him that I live in a small apartment, he wants to see it." She says as she storms into the bedroom and slams the door shut.
"Oh come on, how can you be so blind? At least hear yourself speak, you make no sense." I shout in anger but she doesn't respond. I was about to go back to my room when the doorbell rang. If it's Paul, I am going to punch his face. Put me in jail, I don't care now. He has taken it too far.
I open the door to see Victoria, Landon's sister-in-law, she smiles at me as I motion her to come in. Do all Landon's relatives just love to drop by unannounced? I look down to see her pregnant belly. I didn't know that she was expecting.
"Congratulations!" I say as she hugs me gently before heading towards the living room and almost collapsing down.
"You look tired, I'll get you some tea? Or anything to drink?" I ask her as I get her a glass of water.
"No, don't worry, water is just fine. I am always tired, this isn't something new now." She says as I take a seat next to her.
"So what brings you here?" I ask her and she looks at me with a huge smile on her face.
"So I was recently awarded a trip to London, all-expense paid but I can't go as I am really tired. Then I heard you broke up with Landon, so I thought it might be great for you to go on a little trip. You must be exhausted with the court and other things in between right?" She asks and I almost nod.
Wow, she is pretty convincing!
Yes, a trip sounded good but I can't just take this offer, I barely know her.
"Victoria, I appreciate this but I think I will have to pass, you can give it to anyone else. My sister is in town-"
I was cutoff with Analia stepping into the room with the highest pair of heels. She was wearing a tight little number and I hated the fact that she was letting Paul use her.
"Siya, he is coming over to stay, day after tomorrow, and he'll be staying here for a few days. That's final." She announces before storming out of the house in anger.
"That, I assume, is your evil sister, Cinderella?" Victoria asks making me laugh a little.
"She is not that bad." I lie, not wanting to bitch about my own sister.
"Isn't she dating the same guy who beat up your student and ruined Landon's life as a kid?" She asked giving me no choice but to concede that yes, she is kind of like my evil sister.
"Yeah, but she is kind of slow in such matters she can't tell when people are using her. Also she hates me because my dad used to side with me always. So..." I trail off as I try to explain Analia's behavior but I stop when I realize she hasn't been through a lot.
She always got my mom's attention and I never did, yet I hold no resentment towards her. Landon was right, I can't survive in the world like this.
"Earth to Siya, so how about you go on this week-long trip or would you prefer seeing that sleaze ball Paul get up on your sister for the week?" She asks and I know I have no option.
I would kill myself, before watching Paul enter my house, so I agreed. Victoria almost jumped when I agreed and hugged me tight. Why was she so happy that I am going on this trip? I looked at her, and she had a beaming smile on her beautiful face.
As soon as Victoria left, I started to pack for London, for the first time in this week I was happy and excited. It felt nice. I've never been to Europe, I was a bit scared of travelling alone but it is going to be a life changing experience for me. I can finally stop thinking about Landon.
I can go sightseeing, start getting over the man I knew I have fallen deeply in love with. I know it's going to take a long time but at least I am ready to take the first step.
