Chapter 40 - Changes in the Plan

"What are we going to do now?"

Rina asked as she looked towards her husband who was currently driving.

It had been around an hour after they left the president's office.

After being affected by their emotions and killing the president, they hurriedly searched through the office before escaping and driving away.

Now, they were driving kilometers away from there and were currently thinking about their next course of action.

Ren, who had just paused as the traffic light shone in red hue, replied, "Sigh… I did not expect that we'll be carried away by our emotions. As for what we'll do next, let me think for a while."

Rina replied with a soft laugh, "Me too, I didn't expect it. I think we're really getting rusty."

Then she kept silent, giving her husband some space to think things out.

After a minute or so, Ren started the car again as the traffic light shone in green hue.

While driving, he said, "There's no point in crying over spilled milk… so we'll just have to make the best out of the situation. It was not as if what we did didn't have any benefits. Now that the president, who specifically targeted us, is dead, we won't have to worry about anyone focusing their attention on us. So now, we'll have the time to lay low and investigate the game further, seeing what kind of benefits it can give us."

Rina looked at him and replied, "We'll also have to move Zen earlier out of the hospital, right?"

Ren replied as he focused on driving.

"Yes, we should. Even if the president is already dead, it is not guaranteed that no one will find trouble with us. Hopefully, Zen will be able to recover soon enough because the sooner we get him out of the hospital, the safer we would be."

While thinking about what to do next, Ren couldn't help but be amazed at the game. Zen's cancer that made them suffer for years was finally starting to get cured.

Therefore, he couldn't help but wonder what more benefits they can get out of the game.

After thinking for a while, Rina suggested. "Then… should we contact Margareth?"

Ren's lips curled upwards into a smirk and said, "Good idea. Let's contact her and see if she's willing to assist us."

"Hehe, I kind of missed that brat too. It's been many years since the war, I wonder how life is going for her~"

Rina giggled as he opened her phone. She put it in speaker mode and waited for the one she was calling to pick it up.

"98! 99! 100!"

Slap! Slap! Slap!

At this moment, Zen is currently doing push ups while Arthur, who has a smile on his face, has a stick in his hand which he uses to continuously strike Zen.

In the past few hours, all he did was perform different kinds of exercises because he heeded Arthur's advice and focused on his attribute growth.

The reason for this was because Zen learned from Arthur that gaining attribute points through practice will only be worthwhile if done while having a low level.

In the beginning, his stats increased quickly.

Jumping about 10 points each excluding his Constitution which only increased by a small amount. He also didn't gain any intelligence because he was still focusing on exercises which tackle the stats concerning the body.

Although Zen thought about it as only "by a small amount", if Arthur were to know what Zen was thinking, he would have struck harder with his stick.

However, as his stat points increased, Zen noticed that the points he was gaining decreased by a lot.

Therefore, he suggested something to Arthur who happily obliged.

And this "something" was to make the exercises harder through various ways.

Push ups while being beaten, squats while having a bucket of water in each hand, punching training dummies made of metal, sprinting in full speed with rocks tied to his waist, and many more.

At first, Zen struggled to adapt to this kind of exercises but as time passed by, he became used to it.

Of course, as seen from the smile on Arthur's face, he seemed to be quite enjoying it a lot too.

Zen glanced at the smile on his teacher's face and thought, 'Damn, what a sadist!'

"Hey, why are you stopping? Didn't you want to quickly become powerful? What's the matter now?"

Arthur said sarcastically as he struck Zen with more power than usual.

Tch!

'He's really enjoying himself huh…'

Zen clicked his tongue and continued to do push ups while enduring Arthur's continuous beating silently.

While our family of protagonists are busy with their own affairs, the world is currently in a state of uproar.

It had only been a day since the release of Free World and it had already caused the people to go crazy.

There were only a limited number of helmets used to enter the game that were sold each day. So those who did not have the opportunity to buy, as well as those who believed the game to be a scam, regretted their actions.

The people who were fortunate enough to buy the game gloated on the internet about how realistic the game was and how it had a time difference of two times that of the real world.

Rich families, large organizations, celebrities, athletes, students, sleep deprived workers and various kinds of people longed to enter the game with all kinds of reasons and agendas in their minds.

There were also fandoms that were created for the players to discuss information about the game.

However, little did they know that there is something more to this game than what meets the eye.
