Chapter 33 - Broken Skill

Arthur smiled and said, "Learn it first. Then you'll see that sometimes the simpler an item or a skill is, the scarier and the more broken they are."

Believing his teacher's words, Zen also took the other book at the table.

[Hot Weapon Mastery

Grade: Epic

Tier: Top

Beginner Proficiency: 0.00%

Description:

The mastery over all kinds of hot weapons.]

'Hot weapons huh…'

Although Zen had seen some guns inside the room where he slept earlier, seeing a skill closely associated with guns made him think of the countless things that might be hidden in this seemingly medieval and magical world.

'What if there are tanks here too…'

Just thinking about it made Zen's blood boil in excitement.

He proceeded to learn the [Cold Weapon Mastery] skill first.

The book with a purple glow soon became particles of light that entered Zen's head.

As soon as the first particle of light entered, Zen felt shocked at the countless knowledge being engrained not only to his memories but also to his very being.

The feeling was very special and intimate, making it impossible for him to forget anything about the skill.

'What the…'

Zen could not help but become intoxicated as he hurriedly learned the other book.

The same process happened with the [Hot Weapon Mastery] skill, nothing more and nothing less.

The only difference was that the knowledge and experience contained in this skill were all about the different ways to use a hot weapon.

Woah~

Zen sighed as he felt the changes within his body and mind.

He hurriedly stood up and walked towards the weapons rack in the training grounds and pulled a shortsword from it.

He was once again surprised by the amount of knowledge that appeared in his brain.

The way to hold, to slash, to cut, to thrust and other complex and treacherous ways of using this seemingly simple sword appeared in his mind.

As he tried to follow one of the ways to slash in his mind, his body followed- as if he had countless experiences which resulted in a flawless muscle memory.

"What sorcery is this…"

Zen muttered in amazement.

Arthur just observed Zen's actions. Seeing the amazement on Zen's face, he could not help but say, "I told you. However, there is still one advantage from the skill that I gave you."

"What…"

Zen replied dazedly. He could not believe that this already broken skill was more broken than he thought.

Arthur felt happy at his student's reaction and continued, "The [Cold Weapon Mastery] skill covers all kinds of cold weapons, right?"

Zen nodded in response.

"It goes the same for the [Hot Weapon Mastery] skill, doesn't it?"

Zen nodded again.

Arthur grinned and said mysteriously, "Then what happens if you improve the skill, I wonder?"

Thinking for a few seconds, Zen's face suddenly revealed an enlightened expression.

"Then… then it means that even if I only improve my skill using the sword, my mastery in spears and other weapons will also improve too."

"Correct! The system will provide overall knowledge with the other weapon as well even if you only practice one weapon. Meaning that if you achieve a high realm in the sword, you will also reach that realm with the other weapons."

Hearing his teacher's words, Zen was once again shocked.

He thought of all the possible uses of this skill and came to a conclusion; it really was a broken skill!

While enjoying his student's reaction, Arthur said, "How's my gift?"

Zen swallowed his saliva and replied, "Amazing!"

That was the only word that came out of his mouth.

Satisfied, Arthur continued, "Well be prepared because there are more things to come…"

"More?!"

"Yes, so make sure to train and work hard. After all, I don't want my investments to go to waste."

"Yes, teacher!"

Seeing Zen's excited expression satisfied Arthur, making him feel as if he crossed time and saw his you and desperate self becoming happy.

'This would also be my expression if someone helped me at that time, right?'

"What exercise am I going to do next?"

Arthur's thoughts were driven away by Zen's excited voice.

Arthur chuckled lightly and shook his head before saying, "What do you mean exercise?"

He also walked towards the weapon rack and pulled a sword while saying, "Just doing exercises repeatedly won't make you strong. To be strong, combat experience is needed too."

Zen was getting a bad premonition from his teacher's actions.

Arthur lightly caressed the sword's blade with his finger as he soon got into stance and continued, "I also want to teach my combat technique to you. It's compatible with the skill books I gave you, meaning that grasping this combat technique will make you at least a hundred times stronger than you are now."

Zen did not believe his teacher and laughed instead, "Pfft! A hundred times? Surely you're exaggerating, right?"

Knowing that it was hard to believe, Arthur just smiled and ordered, "It's easier to just show you."

Zen held the sword in his hand tightly as he readied himself.

Seeing that Zen was ready, Arthur said, "I'll begin now. Don't worry I'll make sure not to hurt you too much."

Swoosh~

Arthur charged as soon after speaking.
