Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Entering Ximen Acdemy

A brand new day has come.

Sun shined brightly, and the western mountainside was holding a glorious palace.

This magnificent structure of towers and halls was the Purple Sand branch of the Westgate Clan.

Experts were standing in rows inside the most prominent square of the palace.

In front of the experts laid the mountain wall. It had a massive carving of a golden gate on it.

"This is the Westgate Portal inscription! Now salute your ancestors as the gates open for us!"

Elder Xi ceremoniously shouted, and the carvings of the golden gate lit up.

This carving materialized into an actual gate that opened slowly.

Felix could hear some thundering words from the other side.

However, only blinding light shone inside the portal.

"Descendants of the Ancestor Tyranum, you completed the sacred task and are rewarded! Pass through the gate and return to your homeland!"

Heavenly voice traveled far and wide, and the experts walked right into the light.

Felix was walking behind Abbadon and Silver.

"It feels like I am walking into clouds!" Felix felt this numbing sensation coursing through his veins.

Soon, he stepped into the gate as he saw his grandparents disappear into the light.

Felix felt his body moving so fast he couldn't comprehend.

However, no sickness or discomfort ailed his body.

Unlike jumping through space, this travel only made him feel his existence flee into the current of light.

It was a magical experience.

After what Felix deemed centuries, he felt his body on solid ground. Then, finally, his eyes could see some blurry sight as the light receded.

"We are the High Council, and we greet the heroes, who retrieved the sacred artifact back to our home!"

Felix heard a chiming womanly voice as if a fairy had just spoken.

He rubbed his eyes and his vision cleared.

Felix was inside an unimaginably vast hall, where hundreds of thousands of people were waiting and cheering.

"The Void Compass is a universal treasure! The Clan's Founders tried to get their hands on it for millions of years, to no avail! Finally, this item was brought back by these heroic children of Ancestor Tyranum! They will receive rewards and slots for inner discipleship and even Longmen Ritual!"

As the fairy-like woman spoke, the crowd cheered in happy voices.

Abbadon was conflicted for the first time and stood speechless at this reception.

He felt that there were countless Titled Gods and above in the crowd!

He never felt more proud to belong to this magnificent clan.

"This is so grand!" Felix was also very excited to see such a warm welcome.

"Some of you may not know how vital The Void Compass is to our clan!"

Fairy's voice calmed the crowd, and everyone listened in silence.

"We will be able to use our Westgate artifact and Bloodline Contracts to locate each other anywhere in the universe as long as we live! No great enemy of ours will have a chance to ambush us alone in the vast space, no longer!" Fairy spoke, and the crowd showed tremendous excitement.

"We will also be able to find those lost in space-time, so if they are still alive, we will bring them home!"

There was a dangerous thing in the void called a space storm.

It could be minor or vast. However, you would be lost inside forever if your luck were wrong!

Over thousands of years, many have lost their loved ones to these storms due to experts fighting, ambushes or traps! But, now, they heard it was no longer a problem for their clan!

Felix had no idea about the dangers of space travel, but he could see how many of these people shed tears of joy when they heard the news.

"It seems this artifact is a handy and powerful tool!" Felix concluded and waited for the fairy to continue.

"This is not all. This branch seems to have an unimaginable destiny! They have given birth to reincarnation as well! This person will be our clan's third reincarnation in all history! As you all know, one of the Founding Ancestors was a reincarnation! Also, the second reincarnation lead our family to safety during the Doomsday War! Now we will nurture this boy as well, so that our Ancestors would be proud, that we are not superstitious fools, like the outside authorities!"

Felix was amazed to hear about himself now. He knew his label of reincarnation was rare, but it appeared he underestimated it a lot.

"If one of the Ancestors was a reincarnation, it explains a lot!"

Felix was comforted by this news and looked at the murmuring crowd.

He saw happy looks and some disapproving faces, but none of them dared to say anything against the High Council!

Soon behind the fairy, more people in council uniforms appeared.

"Today is a happy occasion, and we have more good news to announce!"

A handsome man from the council began to speak while standing shoulder to shoulder with the fairy.

"We found a whole new realm-pocket in the Hex Star Field!"

Everyone gasped as the crowd listened.

"As you know, this will be our new large-sized realm, so many new missions and quests will open when we determine what is inside it!"

The man smiled with a devilish look, and everyone was happy to hear more resources would be available soon.

Another councilman took a step forward and spoke as well.

"We have news from the God-King Tower! The elders will begin their disciple picking in a hundred years, precisely after 500 years juniors competition! So this event will be a new recruiting after a hundred thousand years!" The man smiled when he saw everyone look at him with endless greed.

Without ambition, the clan would decline, so the elders were happy to see youngsters have dreams and wishes.

One more councilwoman stepped in front and told more good news.

"As we have to prepare juniors for the God-King Tower Event, we will open a merit tasks pool that all new members could train themselves efficiently. We will open the Training Overworld Realm for the whole duration now!"

People were amazed to hear juniors will have a whole training realm for themselves.

Felix could understand only a little, but he was not stupid, so he knew many good things awaited him.

"For now, these will be the only announcements today! We have prepared a reception banquet for our Boundless Stars branch people, and everyone is welcome to attend!"

Fairy ended the holy atmosphere, and the council retreated.

Soon Abbadon and others were swept by the crown of the clan's experts, but they heard a considerable cough, and silence ensued.

Thousands of Titled Gods and Principle Gods stood as General Feng released his God-King cultivation.

Inside the High Council's meeting chamber, the whole council discussed today's event.

"Will those hillbillies be fine?" One nasty-looking boy asked with a disgusting face.

"Sarka, you know that General Feng is there, right?" The fairy said with a mischievous grin.

"Oh, well, then the crowd will have some training to do if they don't behave!" The ugly boy laughed and took out some food.

"Aretha, what do you think about that reincarnation?" The oldest man in the council asked the fairy.

"I saw that he has a unique but relatively weak Mind Palace. Nothing else is special about him. General Feng reported that he has adequate comprehension, as he constructed more than seven runes." The fairy said with a bored voice.

"It is not surprising. He came from such a backwater star, after all!" However, the nasty boy was still talkative.

"Lady Aretha, you seem to have missed this unusual aura around the boy! He reminded me of that sword in Ancestor Tyranum's resting place!"

The handsome man from before spoke with his fantastic smile.

"Are you sure, Argon? I felt nothing of such sort!" Aretha said with some shock on her godly face.

"Fairy, you know that I spend most of my time protecting the Ancestor's Resting place! I wouldn't mistake that feeling for nothing in the world!"

The handsome man showed some seriousness and sat down.

"If this is true, this boy must have a tiny particle or Tyranum's Bloodline! Of course, we should do some tests to be sure. But, if it is true, the boy will be worthwhile in the long run. After all, we all know how mighty that sword is!" The oldest man sighed and recommended examining Felix thoroughly.

"Fine, let us sate our curiosity. We will test him after they accommodate themselves in their residence!" The fairy made a decision and waited for other comments.

"You know Aretha, I saw in that reincarnation's eyes, Natures way!" An older woman spoke with a bit of glint in her eyes.

"What! Isn't that the indicator that a mage has the highest comprehension?" The fairy looked at the woman with a shocked expression.

"Also, why couldn't I see Nature Rune inside his mind-space?" Fairy questioned without hesitation.

"Child, only a mage can see runes inside the soul without prying too hard!" The older woman had a very dangerous smile.

"Aunt Silencia, if your observation is true, then this boy is exceptional. What do you think we should do?" Aretha asked for advice.

"Franklin, won't you shine some enlightenment here?" The older woman looked at the plain-looking guy, who had a very mortal-like appearance.

This man looked like a farmer. But, to be exact, nobody would associate him with High Council.

"Fine, this boy has World Mind Palace! It is the rarest path to construct your palace as a mage! Usually, these mages create a miniature world filled with their comprehensions, bloodlines, or even imaginary dream worlds. Felix, however, is trying to make a copy of the natural world! Unfortunately, his past life gave him a slight push and little knowledge of following this path!"

Everyone listened with frowned faces to the plain man.

"I deduce that he will become a great mage! If he doesn't die, he will achieve wonders!"

Franklin said with a bit of expression on his face.

"So what do you say we should do? Do we nurture him with special care, or does he need protection?"

Fairy Aretha said with a confused face, as she had never heard of such a weird mage path.

"We can't help this kid! He will have to make a path if there is none! Otherwise, it will go against his heart! We should observe and protect him against enemies of the clan! I am almost certain that others will notice him soon and send assassins to nip the trouble in the bud!"

Fairy showed a look of understanding and nodded her head.

"Okay, Uncle Franklin, I will make sure he has no problem surviving to maturity!"

"Haha, you still don't get it, little girl! This reincarnation will end up in life and death situations, no matter what you do!"

A rough voice sounded as someone stepped inside the hall.

"Uncle-Grandmaster Jahkar!" Fairy and others greeted with cupped fists.

"This boy is covered in darkness against my fate reading! This hidden future means the universe already pushed him in the middle of the storm! Even if he doesn't become the strongest, he will be the igniting point to something massive. We can only be careful. Prepare the evacuation plan, and make several fail safes! Every time reincarnation is born, some disaster strikes around it! Remember the Doomsday War. If not for our ancestor's teachings, we would not be here!"

Jahkar said with a grave voice.

He looked like a very ancient middle-aged man. He wore a weird robe and held a fat book in his arms.

"Uncle-Grandmaster Jahkar, we will follow your orders. First, however, instruct us if we must accomplish something else!" Fairy Aretha was quick-witted and asked the man for advice.

"I deduced from the people around the boy that he is not in imminent danger, for now, so just let things flow naturally! I want to see this boy in the Ximen Academy, no matter what! Also, make up some reason to bring him into Energy Star Realm! He must get stronger quickly! Lastly, I saw some teens around him in the future! So don't disturb his relationships, no matter who he interacts with in the future. I will give you more news when seniors deduce more information. I want to retreat to Prediction Tower!"

The ancient man turned back and left the room with quiet people.

"Well, we better go to work. It seems trouble is brewing, and this peaceful time will end soon!" The oldest councilman vanished, and soon everyone else went to their jobs.

On the other hand, Felix was on the way to his new home, which the clan built anew in the capital city of the Ximen Star.

The Ximen Star was incomprehensibly huge. Thousands of times more significant than the Sun back on Earth, or even more.

It was a massive planet surrounded by other stars in a revolving formation.

Felix could see in the sky some massive planetary bodies.

"This view is insane!" Felix had a fantastic look.

"Now I understand why these colossal planets don't crush us with their gravity!"

Felix watched around and saw the gravity particles waving gently in a weird way.

He could see that invisible forces collected an overload of this gravity power. It was the way cultivators used every resource available.

"This is where you will be staying! We named this the Purple Sand district, and it belongs to miss Ofelia and Abbadon! You can buy new estates in better places later on if you have the funds! However, I reassure you this is a highly sought-after place in the Ximen Star! Now I will leave you to fend for yourself, as I have other duties. Goodbye!"

General Feng was highly polite to escort them to their new home, as there were still many experts following them, wanting to interact.

After all, there were many Titles Gods in their group, so some more minor factions would like to recruit them. Not to mention Gyro, who was an unaffiliated Principal God.

Sadly for the crowd, Abbadon released the news that they would receive all guests after getting used to their new home.

Felix soon entered the new estate and felt an entirely different style inside these halls.

It had this weird vitality and lightness. Even breathing was more comfortable inside.

"This is a Prince Estate level living district, kids." Everyone turned around to see Senior Thunder, still here.

"Dear Abbadon, I still remember you as a small twerp!" Senior Thunder, Felix's great-great-great-grandfather, joked around and led them to a meeting room.

Others were looking for a room of their liking, as this palace district was more extensive than the Purple Sand branch.

Only Senior Thunder, Abbadon, Ofelia, Sitri, Silver, Felix, and Gyro went into the meeting room.

"Felix, let me introduce myself! I am Gray Po Westgate. You can call me grandpa Thunder!"

Felix was surprised by this previously quiet man to be so amiable today.

"Child, that General Feng said he will train me personally if I gave you guys any perks while traveling! So I endured all this time without interacting with you all!"

Everyone in the room had understanding looks, as they imagined the crazy training maniac General Feng.

"I am the oldest surviving member of the Purple Sand branch, who is still alive! My son, and his son's sons, have already passed away, so we are the only direct line of Ancestor Tyranum left in this world!"

Felix watched his grandpa Abbadon and Thunder's sad looks and decided to stay silent.

"Child, now we will recommend you for inner discipleship in the Ximen Academy. Also, you will be our choice to endure Longmen Ritual!"

Grandpa Thunder said with a warm voice, and Felix listened with surprise.

"Child, you will become someone great. I trust you will not disappoint me! Now you will be starting your education when you reach your sixth birthday! Everyone starts at the same age in Ximen Academy! So get some sleep. I bet you will want to adventure around the capital tomorrow!"

Grandpa Thunder instructed Felix to rest, and only the grownups stayed inside the meeting room.

"Abbadon and Gyro, I belong to the Paragons Association in this city! We have seven Principle Gods as our leaders. They are almost half-step into the God-King Stage! If you want you can join me, find something you fancy, enjoy life! You have about six hundred years until the thousand-year competition begins! For now, rely on Ofelia to raise funds for this branch! We will see how talented our youths are and then decide how to get stronger!"

Senior Thunder told his plan, and they continued to reminisce about the old times and talk about this new living place.

"I should first look at my Mind Palace!" Felix found a calm courtyard away from all the bustling and instructed the servants to arrange their living there.

"I felt something change when I traveled through the portal!" Felix looked inside his mind-space and saw that his light rune was resplendent.

The light rune was very close to Light Law.

"This is great! Now I can get some rest, as I will go explore the capital tomorrow!"

Felix was very introverted in his previous life, and he had this tendency now. However, even he couldn't resist exploring this unreal place.

The following day came quickly, and he went towards the exit of their Purple Sand District.

"Hey Felix, do you intend to explore the city as well?" Felix heard fatty Marcus behind him.

"Hi Marcus, I didn't expect to meet you here! Yes, I will explore the city now. Did you want something?" Felix was very amiable to this fatty.

"Well, yes, I and the others are going together, we also asked Senior Thunder to help us as a guide, so would you like to join us?" Marcus smiled as he invited Felix to join their group.

"Sure, who else is coming?" Felix asked.

"Well, I had no choice to pick so that Amelia will come as well!" Fatty said with a natural frown.

"Also, those mind twins and Wang join us. I heard some young experts will come as well, so we will have quite a group!" Fatty explained and sat down on a sofa.

"Let's wait then!" Felix said.

Soon a group of people was waiting at the entrance, and Senior Thunder arrived.

"I see we only lack one person, so let's chat for a bit!" Grandpa Thunder was very amiable and easygoing.

They quickly asked about the capital and what they should know.

"Kids, you don't need to worry about anything in the clan territory! Just be respectful and don't offend others, as it is difficult to dissipate annoyance and hate in the hearts of men!" Senior Thunder only advised them a little.

"Grandpa Thunder is right. I should keep a low profile!" Felix reminded himself.

"Also, there are a lot of factions in this city! Some are colossal. Some are small. They all group up according to interests, bloodlines, or other connections! The most powerful factions are the ruling political parties! We won't even be able to meet them usually. Still, remember that the ten most vital coalitions will have a number on their uniforms, so be wise! Also, there is Punishment Hall, which is responsible for the safety and law of the clan! They dress in black gold uniforms, so be prudent around them, or you can end up in some punishment!"

Felix listened to his grandpa explain the city powers with great interest.

"Next, you also need to remember that you should not offend guests. They will not wear clans symbol so that you will distinguish them from other people! Remember that we always stay polite unless they offend us first!"

Senior Thunder said it with a severe face, so the kids would not become troublemakers in the future.

"Also there are many auctions, shops, and entertainment places, like arenas and so on! You can visit and buy whatever you can afford! There are also Ximen Treasure Pavillion, where you can use your merit points to shop! Usually, this is the highest quality place to find a suitable treasure! Everything with the Ximen emblem will be the clan's business, so explore and learn! It seems Lyrius is here. Let's get going!"

Felix was surprised to see Lyrius, so he rushed to see what he was up to this time.

"Grandpa Lyrius, what are you going to do in the city?" Felix asked in a cute voice of a child.

Felix was almost six years old now, so he still had childish charms.

"Kid, I am going to join the Librarians' Association!"

Senior Thunder heard that and joined the conversation.

"Lyrius, I am surprised you know about this faction! They are shallow profile, but also unreasonably mysterious! I heard they work for the High Council and are responsible for information collection and storage! Good luck, young man. Their selection exam is a famously difficult theoretical exam!"

Felix was surprised to hear Lyrius wanting to join such a group.

"Senior Thunder doesn't need to worry. I am confident in my knowledge!" Lyrius smiled, and everyone walked towards the city center.

As the city was too big to measure, they passed through small teleportation formations and various portal gates to reach their destination.

"Guys, let's enter this building for a bit, this is Paragon's Association Guild that I belong to, so I'll go to report! After that, we will travel where you fancy! Hahaha!" Senior Thunder entered a small pavilion.

Felix followed inside and saw that there were several people inside.

In the welcoming hall, there was a notice, saying that only Titled Gods and above were welcome to join.

"They should be quite strong if they have such requirements!" Felix assumed as he looked around.

Soon Grandpa Thunder came back, and they resumed their journey.

They visited numerous shops and auctions, street markets, and information centers.

Everything looked fabulous in this place, so the evening came quickly, and they had to return.

Grandpa Thunder took Felix together with him to talk about the future.

"Felix, about a month is felt until your sixth birthday! You will enter Ximen Academy two months from now, so you should know a few things!"

Felix listened to what this older man had in mind.

"Kid, you will enter as an inner disciple, as our recommendation, but you can lose this privilege! Students show their progress every year, and if their progress is too shallow, they lose their benefits! There is also a competition every five years, and if you can't reach the top hundred, you will lose inner disciple status!"

"Why is this inner disciple status so important?" Felix asked.

"Kid, inner disciples get more resources and opportunities! They can also look at the more classified information and techniques! Furthermore, teachers can promote them to core students!"

Grandpa Thunder explained with a lot of vigor.

"Child, don't underestimate this academy! Even the weakest teacher, there is a Principle God! The strongest ones are beyond my comprehension!"

Felix was shocked by the power of the academy.

"Felix, try your best. We will support you no matter what! Also, don't be afraid of other kids, as we will have your back! If you need something, ask. We will try our best to provide it for you! If you could become a personal disciple of the core elder, your future would be immeasurable!"

"Wow, I have to be careful in that academy!" Felix concluded.

"Felix, also remember that inside this academy is the best library! If you get the merit points, there is nothing you can't find there! Try to befriend some talented students. They will be valuable in the future."

Grandpa Thunder tried to advise as much as he could.

"Also you will have to choose your primary department! I assume you will select Mage Department. However, if you wish to go to Alchemy or anything else, do as your heart desires!"

Felix heard about departments for the first time and was a bit interested.

"Why do we choose departments?" Felix asked.

"Kid, although we can gain lifespan when we reach higher stages, we are not immortal! Departments let students efficiently learn their selected field of study and even give resources for that! So, if you choose the formation department, you will get a chance to train with all formations! Even interacting with other specialists in your field brings immense benefits."

"So I should choose Mage Department as it suits me the best?" Felix tried to pry for more information.

"Well, that is usually correct. However, there are so many departments that I think if you find a more suitable one, go for it!" Grandpa Thunder tried to appear very supportive, but Felix could see his wish for Felix to get into Mage Department.

"What do you know about the Mage Department, Grandpa Thunder?" Felix inquired.

"Felix, the Mage Department is the smallest in the academy, as mages are very rare and usually short-lived cultivators. However, it is at least in the top three if you ranked every department by power! I heard rumors that there is even an eight-star mage managing the Mage Department Tower! As you know, an eight-star mage is above even someone like General Feng!"

Felix was shocked by this rumored strength of the Mage Department.

"Okay, gramps! I will try to get in the Mage Department!" Felix said with absolute determination.

Their conversation ended well, and Felix went to his room to cultivate.

He now tried to comprehend the light law, as his travel through the Westgate Portal increased his understanding of light.

Weeks passed quickly, and the day of his sixth birthday arrived.

He received some spiritual energy crystals, used as a currency and practical gifts for his studies.

Thunder will take him to the Ximen Academy in the evening to enroll.

"I must stay low profile! I want no trouble!" Felix thought as he went to the Ximen Academy portal.

Felix learned that he could reach Ximen Academy only through portals when he got permission from the clan.

Soon, he appeared in a round hall, where a big group of six-year-olds was already waiting.

"I will leave you here, as I am not allowed to go in. Good luck, kid!" Grandpa Thunder left quickly, and Felix stood there alone.

Soon he saw familiar faces in the crowd. Marcus, Amelia, and the twins were also here.

"Hello, guys!" Felix greeted them with a smile.

"Hi, dude! I'm so excited! I heard so much about this academy! They say if you graduate, you will have a guaranteed future!" Fatty was spitting words in excitement.

"Calm down, Marcus. Don't you want to make a good impression?" Felix patted fatty's shoulder and advised with a good intention.

"Right, right! I should stay calm!" Fatty still had round eyes but somehow calmed his voice.

"Good luck, Felix. I hope you will have no trouble here." Amelia said with a poker face.

"Good luck to you too!" Felix almost stuttered when he saw those creepy eyes.

As soon as they wished good luck to each other, teachers appeared and silenced the crowd.

"Hello, students! I am teacher Gloria, from Fire Department and I teach fire bodily cultivation! I hope to see some of you in my classes! For now, let's begin with the rules!"

Gloria said, and students were waiting for her to begin.

"There are only these rules! Do not kill. Do not cripple. Do not destroy school property! Respect your teachers!"

Voice of a man said severely. Felix saw a man standing near Gloria.

He was pretty cold-looking and had this visible killing intent around him.

"I am enforcer Tian! Follow the rules, and we will not meet again!" He grinned with a maniacal smile, making the kids shudder.

"Damn, I should avoid this man at all costs!" Felix felt danger from this enforcer Tian.

"Okay, now you know the rules! Inner disciples step up! You will go to the inner dorms to live. Others will go to the regular dorms!"

Students listened, and Felix tried to memorize everything.

"During this week, we recommend that you pick your department! Then, if you don't know what I'm talking about, you will have a chance to learn about the departments later."

Gloria quickly explained and turned to look at the inner disciple's group.

"Inner disciples, follow me! Others go with enforcer Tian as he will show you around!"
