Chapter 7 - Combat (Ch.7)

"I will inform the warriors to tighten the border patrol along the Crimson barrier." Allen said, receiving a nod from Zariah.

"Also, summon the spirit guide, let him take a closer look at the Crimson barrier, he alone would know if it's power has waned and would require reinforcement." Zariah added thoughtfully,

Theo thing Zariah was yet to figure out both in the previous life and this was just how Caid had been able to get through the Crimson barrier.

Except Zariah herself, there was no one else who could open the barrier, Zariah had also not felt any signs of the barrier weakening, hence it just did not make any sense.

The Crimson Barrier had been erected by five hundred of the most gifted elementals of the Crimson Moon Pack,

Each of these elementals had sacrificed half of their lifespan to erect this barrier, Zariah's father included,

This was precisely why the previous Alpha of Crimson Moon had passed on so early in age, leaving a young Zariah to take on the reigns of the Crimson Moon Pack.

Zariah knew just how powerful the Crimson barrier was, it was the greatest creation of the Crimson wolves besides the ancient element seal,

A barrier that no supernatural specie in existence could breakthrough, and yet an intruder had easily by passed this barrier, it was a thought provoking occurrence.

"Reinforce? Alpha?! That would require the sacrifice of half of your lifespan!" Allen exclaimed at Zariah's suggestion, Zariah passed Allen a blank look.

"I am Alpha of Crimson Moon Allen, my duty is to protect my wolves...if the barrier has truly weakened, then I shall do what I must." Zariah said firmly before dismissing her second in command with a wave of her hands.

Zariah was still yet to fully comprehend her situation, every thing was just too unbelievable and overwhelming and Zariah needed some time to herself...

Zariah needed to think, she needed to plan, she needed to prepare, she could not afford any mistakes this time around...not even a single mistake at all.

______________

Zariah headed out of her quarters in the direction of the training field, she had taken the entire day to comport herself and had not stepped out of the her mansion at all,

However with the sun rising, a new day arrived with new possibilities and Zariah had finally gained the confidence to step out.

Zariah felt an ache in her heart, a dull ache which had persevered since Zariah had woken up, even after spending an entire day, the ache had not faded of and Zariah knew she needed something... some form of connection to ease her and Zariah knew just what that was.

As Zariah walked down the cobbled path that lead to the training field, each and everyone of her pack members she passed by stopped to greet her, bowing respectfully, each greeting filled Zariah's heart with warmth and made the reality of her situation even more apparent.

After walking for a short while, Zariah soon arrived at the training field where the young wolves were hard at combat practice, on the upper part of the summit, the warrior wolves were engaged in combat.

"Morning greetings, Alpha." The wolves greeted in unison.

"Resume, pay me no mind... Darren? A moment?" Zariah spoke to the head warrior who hurried to her side, bowing low.

"I have sent in a report on our patrol of the barrier, we did not find anything out of place, " Darren reported apologetically.

"'Care for a match?" Zariah asked off topic, Darren's eyes widening slightly believing he had gotten on Zariah's wrong side, he bowed regretfully but took a fighting stance, the warrior wolves and the younger wolves in training quickly gathered around to watch the display which was a regular fight.

The one thing the crimson wolves knew of their Alpha Zariah was the fact that despite being a female, she was a warrior through and through, the most skilled of the Crimson wolves despite being merely eighteen years of age.

Zariah's favorite pass time had always been engaging in combat, straining her muscles till they reached their very limits and Darren was unfortunately one of her favored opponents or rather one of her regular victims.

Zariah smiled slightly as that familiar thrill rushed through her muscles, her senses instantly heightened as she and Darren circled each other slowly, Darren with his gaze narrowed in concentration while Zariah's expression remained unfazed.

Darren lunged first as Zariah had known he would, Darren had always been impatient in nature and it was displayed in his fighting style.

Zariah easily side stepped his attack, twisting around, she lunged from behind him, hurling him back and throwing him through the air, in the blink of an eye, she dashed after Darren's soaring form and caught him before he could crash into the ground, preventing him from incurring any injuries.

The wolves cheered loudly, their excitement to have been privileged to witness this scene was clear.

"Alpha..." Darren said with a grateful sigh as she steadied the bulky warrior, his was precisely the second bond Zariah had felt being severed and the second who had to protect Zariah with his life, Darren... the head of the warrior wolves and Zariah's cousin.

"I have missed you, Darren..." Zariah murmured as she pulled the muscular warrior into a tight hug, now in the arms of her only living family, Zariah finally felt home again.
