Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 Falling apart

It had been a couple of hours since Calley had pleasured Xai ….. he was feeling better and he was in a clear mind being able to focus again which made him feel at ease once again knowing that he could leave all his worries behind him. He looked over at Calley as she laid peacefully be side him soundly asleep making litte mumbling sounds as she held him once in awhile she would tighten her hold on him as if she was having a night mare. He smiled softly as he stared at Calley sleeping and listening to her cute mumbled sounds as he kept watching her making sure she was ok. He sighed… as each day passes he knew he could not stop himself from being overly protective and bossy over her, especially since the doctor had confirmed more than once it would be a difficult pregnancy for her and even if she acted tough Xai knew his woman was in such a fragile state. Anything could happen at any moment he thought to himself knowing it was his duty to watch over her. He kissed her on the cheek and quietly got out of bed deciding to let her take her nap in peace. He knew she needed the sleep. Xai tiptoed softly out of the room closing the door behind him and making his way to the kitchen where Barb was still happily cooking supper while listening to music. His house was filled with happiness Xai smiled to himself. She smiled at him while taking a pecan pie out of the oven. The whole kitchen was filled with the smell of roasted pecans so Xai assumed it was her famous pecan pie. "Your parents are coming over tonight to visit with you and Calley…. Of course after you and missus finish supper" she glanced at him. "I'll call them and let them know it will probably just be me. I'm going to let Calley sleep she's exhausted." He replied while quickly dialing his dads number. She nodded at him and went back to her cooking humming to the song quietly. "Dad, what time are you coming by?" His dad responded with "probably around 8pm and we won't stay long since it will be late… we just want to stop by and see how Calley is doing." After a couple of minutes of talking to his dad they came to the agreement that they would still come over but not wakeup Calley. Xai quickly hung up the phone and went to put a better shirt on but he knew it was his way of coming up with a reason to check on Calley. He slowly opened up the door and peeked in…. He heard her breathing deeply still asleep. He gently touched her forehead with a slight smile forming on his face while bending down kissing her softly on the forehead. Xai quickly jolted back in shock. He put his hand on her forehead, she was burning up so he ran quickly to the bathroom grabbing the touchless thermometer from the cabinet not even closing the door behind him. Running back to Calleys side Xai quickly holds up the thermometer to take her temperature…. It read 102 .2…. Xai frowned as worry began to fill his mind. This was one of the many warning signs to look out for during the pregnancy so he carefully scooped her up in his arms and carrying her as if he was holding a newborn baby quickly but gently made his way out the room to take her to the er…. he would call her dr on the way to inform him of the situation. It was a good thing they didn't have sex otherwise he would have to dress her he thought to himself while heading at the door he yelled back at Barb who was following him with a concerning gaze. "Call my parents let them know she has a temperature of 102.2 and I'm taking her to the er." Xai said while forcing himself to keep his calm. "Xai what is going on you can put me down" Calley sleepily spoke to him while rubbing her eyes trying to wakeup but she was so tired and her body felt heavy. "I'm taking you to dr you have a high fever." he said to her gently kissing her cheek. "Oh" she sighed and laid her head on his shoulder. "Xai I'm tired ". She quietly added as her head rested on his shoulders. He could feel her body temp rising. He kissed her cheek once again causing his lips to take in the heat from her skin. "It's ok babe just sleep". He quickly carried her to the car and placed her in the backseat sitting by her letting Calley rest her body on him. She whimpered as if she were in pain then fell back to sleep. He had informed Kyler that he had to drive them to the ER so Kyler was already waiting patiently and once Xai put their seatbelts on he started the drive towards the hospital. Xai was very nervous while trying to block out his gut feeling that something was very wrong. His intuition was usually never wrong he thought to himself which scared him even more. He looked at Calley and wondered what they would do if they lost the baby or better yet what would he do If he lost her. As each day passes he finds himself growing closer to her knowing perfectly well she was becoming his world. If something would happen….. He shook his head not even wanting to think those unpleasant thoughts as a tear fell down his cheek. He hugged her tight then noticed she wasn't responding to him and her breathing was faint. Calley was burning up even more…. Xai could feel her body temp without even touching her. Trying to frantically wake her up Xai gently shoook her face cradling it with the palm of his hand…..still no response "Calley can you hear me". he cried out not being able to control his emotions. Kyler was making the call to the emergency crew knowing the situation was not good. "Call her parents when your done and let them know to meet us at the ER" Xai quickly instructed Kyler while holding the limp Calley in his arms…. He was terrified and she almost felt lifeless. Xais whole world began to fall apart along with his sanity.
