Chereads / HellShine / Chapter 14 - My choice

Chapter 14 - My choice

I was out of this world, no hearing, no sight, nothing at all. I was out for a short time but for me it went like thousands years of ambiguity. It's horrible when you are living in the world but you're not really living it. The worst part is that it's counted as a time of your life. Even though you hadn't actually lived it, the world considers it.

When I came back to my sense, I tried to open my eyes. My body was in great pain. I hesitated to open my eyes, I didn't know what was awaiting me, who was there with me? What happened to team 26? What happened to our plan? Were the documents which I took in enemy's hands? Did the enemy win the battle? I was scared. Since the day I joined Jeremy, I became weaker and weaker, scared and scared. I was not the me I was before, or maybe I was like this and I hadn't realized.

I tried to lift my eyelids, as soon as a beam of light went through my eyes, I realized my mask was taken off. it sent a chill through me. Finally, after struggling and hesitating, I opened my eyes. No one was there. I tried to move and find out who took my mask, I wasn't sure if that man took it off or not, but I had to find out. Before I passed out, the battle was still on but nothing could be heard anymore.

I tried to stand up, but pain stopped me and when I took a look at my body, my clothes were gone and instead I was covered in blood-stained bandages and different clothes was covering me. Once again, Jeremy's words echoed in my mine and again it sent a chill down to my spine. Had something happened to me? There was blood on the ground, my mask was gone…

I was struggling to move my body, with the broken foot of my mine and the torn stomach, it was super hard to breath, left aside the standing up. I was pale and weak; I had lost so much blood. I wanted to shout and call for help, but I didn't know what had happened outside the walls of the room I was in. There was another cloth there and I used it to cover my body. Then I took steps towards the door. With every step, I lost more strength. I reached the door and raised my hand to open it. I couldn't hesitate more, I had to find out, no more feeling scared of unknown. It wasn't like I was scared of something I hadn't known, I was never scare like this, I had to keep moving forward. I was going to open it then the door opened.

I got frightened as hell and I couldn't stand anymore, so I fell on the ground and the one who opened the door rushed in. He was the same person who took me here. He moved towards me but I tried to escape his hands. And I couldn't escape! Why! Why! Why was I so weak? Why I was shot? Why did I have broken foot and arm? Why wasn't Jeremy there? Why was no one there that I knew?

I was on the verge of crying. I couldn't hold it in any longer, I was scared, I was in a different place, a man was using his brute force against me. I cried and tears followed each other one by one.

When he saw me crying like that, he moved away and said: I didn't do anything to you, I just helped you. I'm not gonna hurt you and I'm not gonna come near you. Ok? Is that fine with?

I was still crying; I was a total chick. After killing people and running away to kill other people, I was scared of getting killed. I didn't wasn't to trust him, I didn't want to believe him, I had so many question to ask but all I let out was vague voices which had no meaning. My throat was getting hurt after crying out loud, and I wasn't still done.

He was irritated by my cries, so he said: I don't know who you are but, please stop crying.

How could I stop crying? Was he an idiot?

-You're gonna tear the stitches on your stomach. Stop crying.

Stitches on me? Another thing I didn't know and another reason for crying…. even if he was the enemy, I had to listen to him or I would die out of blood loss. After my tears came to an end, I opened my mouth and said with my trembling voice: Who are you?

-I'm Owen.

-Who do you work for?

Owen: I'm on your side, right now.

I was fed up with such attitudes, so I shouted: How the hell am I supposed to believe that?

Owen: We're the only survivors here, so it's mandatory.

-What?!?

Owen: While you were out the battle went on, and they killed themselves.

-Who was against who?

Owen: Whose side are you on?

I had to stay silent about Jeremy, they helped me a lot, so even if I was caught, I had to say nothing about them. If I was going down, I had to go down a lone, the organization had nothing to do with my carelessness.

-No one. Who were they?

Owen: You weren't with them so it means you were with the other party.

-Who were they?

Owen: You don't even know our comrades?

-I work alone.

Owen: Stop shouting, I can hear you and I don't want to go through that again.

He had a point. I was losing my self, Where the hell was Jeremy? I wanted to leave so much. He took out his phone and tried to call someone, but he failed. I kept on staring at him, he wasn't fond of me at all.

-Who were the ones that came later?

Owen: I don't know. I was here with you. I need to change the bandage, so I'm gonna come near, ok?

He came nearer and started to attend to my scar. I could see him clearer than before. He seemed to be around Jeremy's age. Oh! Jeremy! How I longed for your face.

When he finished, he said: I'm leaving this place, change your bandage after some time or when it got covered in blood again. Get out of here and head to a hospital or it will get infected.

I couldn't even stand up on my own, I needed his help.

-Wait, can I come with you?

Owen: After shouting at me like that, you wanna tag along?

-How am I supposed to leave, if I can't stand up?

Owen: It comes at a price.

-How much?

Owen: Not how much, but how.

-How?

He took some paper out of his pocket, they were the documents I had to destroy. I didn't know what to say, the paper showed how much Jeremy had bribed Edward Myra to get his things in the country, and they were enough evidence to get his head cut. What was I supposed to do? It was obvious that I was one of Jeremy's men. Now that he had seen my face, his evidence had become completed.

Owen: Why do you have these documents?

I remained silent.

Owen: If you wanna come with me, you have to say the truth. You don't have the luxury to decide, since you need me so much.

I glared at him. He was a rotten fellow. I don't know if I did the right thing or not, I didn't know if I had chosen the opposite, things would have gotten different or not? Would I be here? Would I be crying by myself, what was the right decision? What was I supposed to do? If Only Jeremy was there with me, maybe things wouldn't have to become the way they all turned out to be.
