Chapter 18 - Owen and Jeremy

The next day I woke up from the sound of birds singing. Jeremy was awake and was making breakfast. He came to me and said: Oh! You woke up. Wash your face and join me or I'll eat your share.

-Why are you so energetic in the morning?

Jeremy: Isn't that how others are?

-No.

Jeremy laughed then said: Stop frowning, hurry up.

-Fine, fine.

I got up and joined him. We discussed the issue with the cops and what we were supposed to do and decided to call him and give them a fake address as Jeremy's new place. By attracting them to a fake address would get us enough time to get out of the country. It wasn't safe anymore to be there so we decided to get out of the country while the police were looking for Jeremy.

I was a problem for Jeremy since the police had seen my face and had evidence, enough to take me away. We decided to use me as their hostage if things got messed up. We came out of the graveyard and headed towards another place where we had to get on plane.

Some of the members had already departed and Jeremy had made Dilan to leave with them. There were only a few people left behind including Jeremy and me. As I had been informed Jeremy was waiting for me to return. How cruel of me to think about him betraying me. I never told Jeremy I doubted him, I didn't find enough courage to confess, I was afraid and ashamed of myself, I'm even more ashamed right now. Looking back at what I have done, I'm ashamed to call myself a creature of this world.

As I was told, Owen got informed and their forces headed towards that place. They were told Jeremy was in another contract signing of him, if it wasn't for my situation we had departed long before any of that had happened. But Owen was aware of everything and he had full authority to arrest me wherever I was so Jeremy suggested to get rid of him.

We had to do something about him, I had to do something or everything had become a lot worse, or maybe everything would have ended well without any extra incidents.

It's life we're talking about, right? Life was never kind, is not kind and will never be kind. I was kind for a long time but I never had kindness for those times, instead I got betrayed, I got hurt, I got insulted, I got abandoned. If there's an afterlife, I'd like to…. No just let me die. I'm tired of this world.

The final day came, Owen headed towards the destination, Jeremy and I ambushing them to kill the only witness alive, Owen.

We were hiding ourselves, this time was better than my last mission. Jeremy was beside me. He was giving me courage and a great amount of energy. We were totally going to kill somebody and I was just fine, only because Jeremy was there. It was wrong to feel that way, but I didn't realize, we both didn't realize what we were exactly doing. Just why the hell was I so eager to kill? It wasn't me but the devil in me who had kept me from understanding. Did Jeremy have a devil in him who helped him forget about his crimes and leave happily? Wait a second, was Jeremy happy? I'm sure even if he was sad and gloomy, he wouldn't have shared with me. He thought I had a lot on my plate of sadness, but I was just like any other person out there. I wasn't different, I wasn't hurt differently, all humanity was hurt but some were able to recover faster and for some, like me, instead of recovering, healing, forgetting about the scars, we gave up happiness and destroyed everything.

I kept on looking at Jeremy, deeply in love and blinded. I was blind to notice a lot of other things. They were right in front of our eyes. They got separated to search the area, Jeremy and I followed Owen. If we were to kill him, we had to do it in a second or all other cops would come for us. We couldn't shoot them, either. It wasn't problem for Jeremy, since it was a simple task for him. If it wasn't for his special skills, he hadn't become the leader, and was still carrying out stupid missions and were bowing his head to any person who was upper than him. Well that was our Jeremy. The coolest guy on Earth. Some called him murderer, drug dealer, cruel, disgusting, horrible, but to me he was the cool Jeremy.

Owen was still searching and when he found nothing, tried to call me. I had told him I would join him later and he wanted to see me as fast as possible to tell him what was happening.

He kept on calling me then told his comrade: Look around the are carefully. They might've caught her.

The man followed his command and looked around. Owen had finally become alone and it was the right time to start our plan. He moved to another room, and we followed. That place was Jeremy's, so he knew everything about all the secret passages through the building. We waited until he went inside a room and walked behind him. Jeremy ordered me to appear from the other side. As he went in, Jeremy closed the door and hid behind a column. I also did the same. We tried our best not to make any sound but Owen found out. As he was holding his gun, he said: Come out and talk.

I wasn't sure if he was talking to me or not, so I decided to wait for his new order. He told me to stab Owen's back after he took his attention.

Jeremy came out of the column and said: Even if it's in ruins, but this is private property, you can't just bump in here.

Owen: Oh! I got some information on illegal activity here, so I paid a visit.

Jeremy: So nice of you to care about these matters.

Owen: You're welcome, Mr. Landlord.

Jeremy: But you must've been wrongly informed, as you may see nothing is happening.

Owen: Really? Mr. Landlord, or should I call you Jeremy?

Jeremy laughed then said: I remember your face.

Owen: how can you not recall it!?!

Jeremy: You've been trying hard for years to catch me.

Owen: It wasn't that much, only for a couple of years.

Jeremy: But you can't arrest me, I'm not guilty of any crime.

Owen: Ha! Ha! considering how careful you are, I was really shocked to see, you had this little witness all along, right beside you.

Jeremy: Witness? There's nothing to be witnessed or to be testified.

Owen: Let's make a deal.

Jeremy: I don't work with the government.

Owen: Your organization had fell down. Your enemies are looking for you, door to door.

Jeremy: Oh man! I'm doomed, aren't I?

Owen: Why don't you hear what I have to say?

Jeremy: You know, a little advice from me can be useful, listen carefully. You, the government guys, I don't give a damn about you, if you talk more, I'll sue you for breaking into my property. And that's not a good thing for your resume.

Owen: The government is generous, once you are taken down, everything will go smoothly for me.

Jeremy: You can't arrest me nor shoot me, so what are you gonna do?

Owen: And you can't shoot me, either.

Jeremy: I don't kill; I've got no interest in dirtying my hand.

Owen: Oh! How many politicians did you bribe to get your way?

Jeremy: They're corrupt, inside and out, don't put the blame on me.

Owen: You even bribed the president.

Jeremy: How dare I insult his honor?!?

Owen: That's why I'm here. To hear your explanation.

Jeremy: Don't push your luck.

Owen: Why? Because you are hoping to get away with the crimes you have committed?

Jeremy: Back to square number one. Are you high on drugs? You don't seem to be fully aware of what you're saying or what the hell you're doing.

Owen: It must be from the materials you give away.

Jeremy: Oh dear! Get out of my property, right now, Officer!

Owen: Where is the girl?

Jeremy: Who?

Owen: Your ex-lover.

Jeremy started to laugh and signaled me to get ready to act. Then Jeremy said: I don't have an ex-lover.

Owen: So mean of you of to ignore your relationships. You're gonna hurt the woman's heart.

While I was holding my knife in my hand I got nearer and nearer, waiting for Jeremy's command.
