It was now nightfall in Tecar. The sky had been beautifully been covered by the stars. Stars that Alex couldn't stop looking at, deep inside she was so happy they had come here.
"Alex…" her blade's voice suddenly whispered through her ear. she then summoned it appearing in her palm and the spirit within it immediately flew out, "Homeeeee….. At... last." It said allowing itself to float around.
I have a question. But first I need you to show me your face." She commanded. The woman, therefore, flew right in front of her and changed from smoke to an actual person, her feet formed and the shadowy cloak on her took shape to a normal leather cloak. Her skin was gray and in the moonlight, it looked white, she removed the hood and it was a blue eyed elf with very white hair, about twice her height with a slim body. Alex chuckled for a bit, looking at the jaw-dropping imagery of what she thought wasn't even close to human.
"Master. My name is whoever you shall call me." Its voice was even clearer now. Alex didn't know what to even say, "What are you?" Alex asked.
"I am," she chuckled, "was a witch. A human born in a world of elves, but with insane power. I did dark magic so that I could become an elf, but instead, I got this." She gestured. Alex didn't want to feel pity and she knew it took one more than just dark magic to be imprisoned in a blade.
"Okay," she said, "now, what do you know about the royal Elvish families?"
The woman sighed and smiled, "The royal families of Tecar. I know, the Terrors, the Dragons, the Silvas, and the dead Kays." She laughed at the last ones.
What do you mean the dead Kays?"
"I mean they were all slaughtered. Well, apart from you and brother who aren't even pureblood elves. Just half casts who have no place in this world." She said.
"Who killed them? Tell me." She yelled.
"Alex,"
Scarlet called her from behind. "Are you alright?" she asked after noticing Alex was stressed about something.
Alex looked around and the elf had vanished, leaving behind only the blade," Yeah am fine. Just feeling tense about what happened in Olympia before we left." Alex said, picking up the blade and making it vanish.
"Well, I brought you some rabbit meat....I think.....that's what they called it. If you feel hungry." She showed her two sticks both piercing through meat on them. "and I couldn't eat with the boys."
Alex laughed, "come we dig in then. Am starving."
***********
They were both now seated down quietly staring at the stars, "Tecar is beautiful." Alex began,
'Yeah, I think am losing my humanity." Scarlet said.
"Wait! What? How?"
"Back at Olympia I think was going to kill humans," Scarlet said, sounding ashamed even by just saying that, "when I looked at those people, all that I had in my mind was hate and that they deserved what was coming for them, even when the dragon came in. I felt nothing Alex, nothing at all. It's like the more I remember the less of me, I become."
Alex turned to her with pity,
"No…I don't think you're losing your humanity, Scarlet."
"Easy for you to say. You're not even human. Those people had lives beyond being soldiers and now Jack is mad at me and…" Scarlet started to cry.
"Jack will be fine, Scarlet. You need to understand that you will get a hang of all this, the powers the memories everything. It just takes time."
"Time that we no longer have. Right now am supposed to be the most powerful person to stop whatever threat that is to come. And am scared for me. I am a coward Alex. I fear of what I may become after all this…." she stopped when they both heard the tapping of a horse's hooves as it dragged a carriage through the woods. They quickly hid behind the trees as it passed, they weren't aware of the time period in Tecar, so this had caught them by surprise.
"We have to go put out the fire before we are spotted," Alex said as they set off to where they had chosen to camp for the night. But on arriving it was already dark and someone had put out the fire and there was no sign of Argus or Jack. That's when Alex realized that they had their guard down. The trees had been marked with runes that couldn't allow you to do magic. And without her, or magic, or his sword. Jack was pretty much useless, Argus on the other hand must have given a fight.
Whoever was in that carriage had taken Jack and Argus. But why kidnap kids? She thought. Scarlet quickly canceled out the runes' effects.
"Where do you think they are taking them?" Alex asked.
"I don't know, but we should start with the direction the carriage was heading," Scarlet suggested, pointing at a small dusty thin road that continued through the woods.
Before they could continue any further, something whooshed through the air hit Alex throwing her in the bushes that were nearby. Scarlet was still trying to figure out where that had come from, when a knight jumped right in front of her and pulled his sword from the leather scabbard that was strapped to his waist. Scarlet looked at the fine steel weapon as it reflected the white light from the moon and noticed It was a magical weapon. With his first swing, she jumped out of the way, but the trees in his way were destroyed with a single slash.
She focused. Then attacked the Knight. She threw the first punch that landed on his helmet almost cracking it in the process of doing so, the force she was using was so intense that all the vegetation around moved at the feel of the impact. It threw the knight on the ground, but he quickly jumped up and went stood in a fighting position.
Scarlet smiled and raised both her fists to the same level as her eyes, her eyes and hair started glowing as she started re-imagining all the fighting skills she had access to.
"You won't leave this place alive, demon." The knight spoke dragon. Scarlet was surprised she could understand Dragon. The knight tapped his sword twice on the ground and made two. Then charged towards Scarlet.
Alex appeared in the way right before he was about to strike Scarlet. He stopped once he saw the glowing green eyes and silver hair. What caught his eye more was the blade she was holding in her hand. She was breathing heavily and at the same time shaking intensively. The sword's sharp edge was almost touching her neck
"I am Alexandra Kay. Daughter to Britney Kay and Leon Kay." Alex said, speaking in dragon.
The knight took a few steps back trying to make sense, it can't be." His voice echoed through his helmet, "the Kays ended with Britney, she sired no children."
"Then explain why I have her blade." she showed him the blade her mother had given her.
The knight stared at the blade with disbelief.
Scarlet didn't know what this all meant.
"Then you are to meet with the dragon at once." He said.
"With who?" Alex asked. But the knight just bumped her head with his helmet, knocking her unconscious. Scarlet was about to attack, but a woman hit her with red energy that resembled chaos magic. Slamming her on the ground.
Her Majesty won't be happy with us...Scarlet could hear the woman's words, she was starting to feel drowsy. It was a spell that she had been hit with a sleeping spell, ...…at least we've taken care of her….she heard the knight say while looking down at her. The voices started to turn to indistinct words as she finally closed her eyes to sleep.
