Alex ran to the balcony with tears running down her face and immediately summoned the blade and dropped it. The spirit jumped out and faced her with an evil look on its face.
"Oh yes, that pain you're feeling is music to my ears." It said.
Enough with the act. I know who you are… Katherine." Alex roared with anger, then chanted out magical words that made chains appear out of nowhere and tied around the spirit anchoring it on the floor.
Katherine laughed, then broke out of the spell, "So you now know. Um…about time."She muttered.
"You are the reason for all this, it's you…who took my mother away from me." she chanted more words and formed a ball of green energy that she released aiming for Katherine. But she simply stopped it in mid-air before it could reach her.
"Relax, child, I am not here to harm you." Katherine said, "It's not like I can." she neutralized the energy ball. Then landed down and picked up the blade. "All of this power and I can't even control it… despite it being mine," she said while looking at her reflection through the steel blade.
"What do you want from me..Katherine? Cause it looks like you've already taken enough." Alex sounded like she was about to cry. She felt completely powerless against Katherine.
Katherine then walked up to her and caressed her left cheek with her cold, grey, and disgusting hand. And stared right into each other's eyes.
"I want to change the world. I want to save everyone Alex, that's all I have ever wanted. When I was born without magic…Alex, everyone despised me…they looked down on me like some mistake and when your mother was born it got worse. Even my own family looked down on me so I had to go and look for the god of Elves…Azora, was in the Astral realm. And when I begged him to lend me his power he asked me for what? And I said that I want to change the world of elves, no more discrimination among nobles, commoners, and humans. I wanted peace, and he was impressed and gave me the power, but he wanted a small tribute for his goodwill. "
"And that tribute was a little elf lives. And after that is when I discovered that the man who had given me that power wasn't Azora. In fact, Azora had died centuries before. His name was Oblivion…the god of Chaos. And told me that I could save our species from extinction only if we allow ourselves to evolve. So, I killed every one of our family that had ever looked down on me…until your grandfather put me in this blade…forged by the god of Elves that was given as a gift to the Kay royal family. And I thought my goal had failed, but then along came you and Jack. The most powerful elves I have ever seen a combination of lord of balance and powerful elf."
"When I saw you and your brother use that special power you have. I knew you were my goal, you are the future of elf kind Alex, you and your brother."
She smiled at Alex's frightened face, "I will kill you Katherine even if it means searching for the ugliest magic out there." Alex said quivering from the spirit's dead look in the eyes. Her teeth were like she had fangs that resembled a vampire's. Her aura was so rotten and felt like murder.
"Good luck with that, your mother tried to destroy me once. But the blade was forged by god. Nothing mortal made can destroy it, but think about it Alex, you and your brother can rule this entire world and rebuild our race once am done killing everyone. And if you refuse, well, I can find other ways." Katherine said, then put the blade in Alex's hand once she heard Jack's footsteps. And disappeared along with the blade. Leaving behind Alex in terror.
Jack arrived at the balcony.
"Hey…."
"Did you know...Jack? About our family." She muttered,
"No…I…um….I didn't. Dad never brought this up in any conversation we've ever had."
"Okay. Do you remember what mom looked like? " Tears were running from her eyes.
Jack knew his sister was in grief because he knew that she had hoped that their mother was alive. He walked towards her.
"I remember she had silver hair, loved tacos, feared spiders and she used to read our minds when we were babies so that we don't cry." he said, "and she looked a lot like you."
That put a smile on her face. "I miss her," she said.
"Me too Alex, every single day."
"What if there was a way to bring her back." Alex suggested and Jack turned to her surprised,
"How?" He asked
"Oblivion, we can use his celestial magic to go back in time and write the events or we can rewrite reality itself. Celestial magic can do almost anything and we can harness it."
Jack pushed away. "Are you hearing yourself, oblivion, celestial magic? Oblivion is a god Alex…" he said.
"Yes, he is, but in the astral realm, he is not strong enough. If we go in and fight him from there we might just win and kill him before he gets to the physical world. All we need is Scarlet to…"
"Enough! Alex, don't involve Scarlet in this suicide mission of yours. Have you thought of what would happen if we don't win and he gets his hands on Argus or worse…Scarlet? He would have all the power he needs."
Alex looked at him with disappointment and said, "I really thought you would understand, but you don't. Now forget we had this conversation." Her eyes then glowed and everything they had just talked about concerning their mother was erased from his mind.
He found himself staling for a moment before he realized he was standing in front of Alex.
"Alex." He said, "are you alright? I just thought after hearing what the queen had said about our history you would be…"
"I will be fine. I just to go have some rest," Alex had just found a way she could kill Katherine and at the same time bring back their mother. The special powers she shared with her brother were described as godlike powers and they could use celestial magic, but only when they are together, meaning she couldn't do this without his help. She then teleported away from the balcony leaving Jack behind wondering the strange behavior she was giving off.
Back to the dinner….
They were now five on the table. Ruth was feeling a bit down after hearing the whole story and she was regretting the way she had rudely spoken to Alex.
"Mom, I am sorry….I didn't know the entire story," she said. The queen looked at her disapprovingly and said, "you are the future queen of Dragonshale and spoke to your guests like that. Am disappointed in you Ruth. I know about what happened in Olympia and I know they were from there. So don't speak to me like a child…Ruth."
"Am sorry.." she apologized again. Facing her plate shamefully.
"It's not me you should be apologizing to." the queen said and Ruth immediately left the table without saying another word.
The queen didn't bother to stop her daughter at all, instead, she turned to Scarlet and Argus, who were both seated quietly eating what was left on their plates.
"My son told me you are quite powerful, Scarlet."
Scarlet looked at Meliodis who smirked and reminded her that she had tried to fight a knight the night before. But she had been stopped by the witch. So that knight was Meliodis. She couldn't believe it was just a boy under all that armor.
And yet you've not awakened your full abilities." The queen continued, "I was told that you can access memories and skills from the previous lords of Chaos from Eldriym and that you can use them willingly."
Scarlet was surprised the queen knew so much about her yet they had just met that very day.
"Yes, your majesty. I can." Scarlet said.
"And Argus…they told me you can use Elemental magic. How fascinating, do you know how rare your kind of mages is?"
"No..actually, where I come from no one even knows about mages," Argus replied.
"Um..how strange," The queen sounded surprised by Argus' reply, 'but let's get to the point. What really happened in Olympia and how did you reach Tecar through a gate yet there are no gates connected to this universe."
"I used spatial magic. I altered the magic within the gateway to do as I wish." Scarlet immediately answered, "and about what happened in Olympia….we were attacked…by…a…."
"Dragon," said Argus, "a dragon broke through the surface and burned down the last city of survivors within Olympia. It was by luck that we survived your majesty."
The queen stopped eating and moved a bit behind to rest her back. The worry was suddenly growing on her face, and do you happen to know the dragon's name?
"Valron," Scarlet said, "the dragon's name was Valron."
