Arcee was at the base and leaning against the wall while watching the others. Both Emily and Optimus went the same way when they first brought the Sword of Primus back to base and it disappeared after touching the two and the same thing happened with the Sword of Unicron.
She just sighed and looked down after her optics stopped at Jack. Her friend, friend and new partner but her Spark ache when the name of someone came to her mind. Cliffjumper... She sighed heavily as she remembered how hard it was to cope when she already lost Tailgate. Cliffjumper was there when she needed someone the most. They grew as friends and partners. But when time flew by, she started to grow feelings for him but she wasn't able to tell him how she felt when he was killed. She looked at them one more time before pushing herself against the wall and walking to the elevator to the top of base for some time alone.
Emily looked up just as Arcee disappeared from view and became concerned. Arcee has been acting off lately. Looking distant and saddened by something.
"Optimus?" She looked to the leader of the Autobots who turned around since he was discussing something silently with Ratchet.
"Yes, Emily, what is it?" He asked curiously since she called him.
"Is... Arcee okay? She's been sad for three days now and it looks like something is bothering her." She told him and she wanted to know if she can help Arcee feel better.
Optimus was hesitant since it was a sensitive subject to them all, especially Arcee. He stared into her optic-eye and saw genuine concern and worry in them of wanting to help someone so he sighed softly and nodded.
"Arcee is acting this way since today is when her partner perished at the hands of the Decepticons. Arcee took this the hardest. Cliffjumper is someone that Arcee holds dear to her Spark especially after what happened to her former partner, Tailgate. And it will take some time for her to heal from her scars." Emily felt the tears well up slightly in her optic-eye from hearing this.
Poor Arcee... She was suffering so much from losing two partners that she grew close to care deeply. She looked to the others and saw how they were looking down as Ratchet stopped what he was doing as they listened to what Optimus told them. Even Jack looked crestfallen since Arcee was his friend. She looks up to Optimus who looks back towards her.
"Is it okay if I talk to her? I wanna make her feel better and to ease her mind." She said softly as they looked at her in confusion. Just how is she going to make Arcee feel better?
Optimus, seeing the genuine look in her optic-eye, nodded with a smile.
"Alright." She smiled as she got up and quickly went to the elevator to get to the top of the base as they watched her go.
"Wonder what Emily plans on doing?" Raf asked curiously as Bumblebee beeped in agreement as he was also curious.
"If Emily knows something that will ease Arcee from her pain, we may as well wait to see what she's going to do." Optimus told them as Emily rode the elevator to the top.
Emily exited the elevator and saw Arcee sitting on the same spot she sat on after the battle with the Decepticons the other day. She sighed softly and walked towards her.
"Arcee?" Arcee looked up and glanced over her shoulder and saw Emily standing behind her. She wiped the tears from her optics.
"What is it, Emily?" She asked softly as Emily became concerned as she sat down beside her.
"Are you okay?" She asked in concern as Arcee was quiet for a moment.
She wanted to keep the pain to herself but it was just too much for her as she sometimes cries herself until she goes offline and recharged. Maybe talking to someone might make her feel better.
"No. I'm not okay, Emily. It's just...hard to cope with having two partners that I grew to care about. First Tailgate, then Cliffjumper... I... I just can't handle the pain of losing Jack... Just the thought of losing someone I grew to protect makes me scared... I'm scared of losing another friend and partner that I grew close to... He's... He's family like the others..." Emily listened to what Arcee was saying as she smiled sadly. Arcee was scared of losing Jack like how she first lost Tailgate and then she just lost Cliffjumper.
She put a hand on her digit as Arcee looked at her and smiled slightly.
"It's okay, Arcee. I know it's hard to cope with losing someone you care for. But if there's one thing I know, even those who are not with us are still here in our hearts, um, Sparks as long as you remember them. We all are part of something greater and each other." Arcee looked at her in confusion. She sounded like Optimus but she didn't understand what she meant.
Emily just smiled at her before looking to the horizon before opening her mouth and started to sing.
Emily: As you go through life you'll see, there is so much that we don't understand
And the only thing we know is things don't always go the way we planned
Emily closed her eyes as the warm breeze blew by as if giving her and Arcee some reassurance as Arcee closed her optics to feel the breeze against her.
Emily: But you'll see every day that we'll never turn away
When it seems all your dreams come undone
We will stand by your side filled with hope and filled with pride
Emily smiled at Arcee as she continued to sing.
Emily: We are more than we are.
We are one
Arcee continues to listen to what Emily is singing. Something about the song has something like a message to it.
Inside, the others stayed silent when they heard Emily singing and they couldn't help but smile since Emily is singing something to make Arcee feel better. Optimus knew the meaning of what Emily was trying to say. There's more to life than anything. The unity with others you know and met are always with you no matter where you are.
Emily: Family, family
We are one
Family, family
We are one
Arcee looked at her before looking at the sky, feeling lost but she couldn't help but to sing a little as Emily smiled up to her and made Arcee smile back to her.
Arcee: If there's so much I must be, can I still just be me the way I am?
Can I trust in my own spark or am I just one part of some big plan?
Emily smiled as they both looked to the sky as Arcee started to feel better. Maybe she doesn't need to be afraid anymore? But she's afraid of losing Jack. She looked to Emily as the warm breeze blew by as she smiled before she looked up to the sky and saw a bird fly off.
Emily: Even those who are gone are with us as we go on.
Your journey has only begun.
Tears of pain, tears of joy.
One thing nothing can destroy is our pride, deep inside.
We are one!
Arcee was starting to understand what Emily was saying. The journey, her journey, is far from over. It's just starting and she knows that Cliffjumper and Tailgate wanted her to continue her journey even if she can't see them anymore.
Emily: Family, family!
We are one!
Family, family!
We are one!
We are one, you and I!
We are like the earth and sky!
One family under the sun!
All the wisdom to lead, all the courage that you need!
You will find when you see we are one!
Arcee became confused a little. Just what is Emily trying to say? Emily just smiled at her as she stood up and looked at her.
"Feeling better now?" Emily asked her as Arcee nodded with a smile.
"Yeah. Thanks for talking to me and singing." Emily smiled at her.
"No problem, Arcee. You have a beautiful voice." Arcee felt her face-plates heat up slightly in embarrassment but knew Emily was telling the truth.
"Come on. The others might be wondering where we are." Emily started to walk back to the elevator as Arcee nodded and followed her as well.
