Chapter 3 - Trivia

"We're sorry~"

The two guys on their knees have swollen red bumps on their foreheads and knees on the dusty, creaking floors in phase bar, sitting seiza style apologetically as Aunt Faye holds a bat in her hands authoritatively says,

"Good, you better have learned your lesson*sigh* why would you say that in the first place you guys know what my concept and elements are right?"

Greg replies as the boys get up and sit on their stools again, "Scout for the concept and Earth element, right? What was your other element again?"

"Well since you forgot it's always better to keep it secret."

"It's bio her potential was only a measly 2 elements, and I'm surprised you forgot don't you remember that time she had a dream about a tree falling on her waking up to find a small orchard blocking the door to the bar? We had to close the bar for the day it was really shitty and annoying to move the tree branches and leaves out of the way."

"Listen here you little brat we don't talk about that... incident and don't you remember that it's common courtesy to not tell others about their elements remember?" She spoke pretty vehemently as if dictating a line from the constitution in front of a large audience.

"Wait, wait, WAIT, YOU are talking about the rules? Literally, just yesterday pantsed the owner of the competing bar, while yelling out his concept as 'drinker' at the top of your lungs, even I didn't realize you were that dense Faye."

"First call me aunt with RESPECT, second that was an accident people do weird things when they're drunk and it's his fault for doing so in the first place trying to pry out my little secrets the bastard."

"Sure whatever I'm tired from this convo already AUNT."

Greg finishes off his mimosa without even looking between the two as if it's the usual. Then pops an idea from the top of his head.,

"Since we're talkin' remembering stuff how about we do a quiz you on some of the necessary trivia so you can go earn some money after becoming a successful whatever post-graduation. Bring back the gold you know?"

"Huh? Isn't gold pretty cheap you old bag don't you think it should bring back the mithril though I'd be satisfied with adamantium standing at the top of that podium brigs too much attention and it'd be easier to step down rather than having to hop down."

"Yeah, whatever you lazy twat I was born in the 21st century before the mana era, I can't comprehend you gen XY... ZX? You whatever brats live with different mindsets I seriously can't comprehend how you all operate, I'm surprised someone like your aunt even exists collecting these old-fashioned books. Anyways shall we get on with the trivia?"

Connor shrugs his shoulders, not caring and just wanting to get over it.

"Ok then let's start naming all the currently known elements."

"That's easy fire, wind, earth, water, ice, lightning, light, darkness, space, time, bio are the only known ones." He recites them with ease.

"I went easy ok next is... explain element potential."

"Ok... The elemental potential is the predetermined amount of elements a person can have after age 10 it is unknown whether or not there is a way to control this outcome the number of elements a person can have is from 1 to 6. Elemental potential does not affect the maximum amount of elemental fusion where people can learn to use their elemental control methods to fuse them in ways that differ from most others. I think that covers everything about that did I get anything wrong."

Connor looks at the old man Greg as he patiently answers since there doesn't seem to be any more customers at the moment he grabs him some water.

"You're close enough but I'm pretty sure they'd deduct a mark or 2 if you don't mention that you can only get your elements once enter a branch of the RCA by placing a body part inside an elemental cube or getting a trusted inscriber to do it for you."

"Yeah ok that's my bad it's a bit of a pain if they go into that much detail."

"Well they can't allow too many people in a lot of this information is available to only the richer families and even they pay a hefty some if they don't already have it. There are also millions of examinees across the 4 realms. Your lucky that your aunt is a retired archaeologist that worked closely with the realm-cross council so she is privy to this info."

"Yes, I'm so grateful~ she definitely will never use this to get me to pay back the favor later on haizz~." He pouts in an over-exaggerated way.

"I feel sorry for you kid, that unfeeling aunt who is so absorbed in that book and wine that even with her insane hearing can't listen to me." She puffs from behind the bar freaking out the old man Greg but he lives to see another day it's just her reacting to the book, but Connor catches that her eyes looked at them for a split second and ignores it.

"Okay, next question explain to me Superpowers as much as necessary."

"Superpowers are earned at the age of 10 years old, no matter the race they are rated 1 to 7 stars according to the rarity of the ability a not its power. The use of the superpower depends on its user and is easier to comprehend when it is more common. Everyone must legally list their superpower ranking on their birth certificate after getting it evaluated. Otherwise if left unevaluated by choice it is by default 1 star being the most common ability by a large margin in the world around 60% if I'm remembering correctly. In some countries leaving it unlisted is illegal.

"Alright, that should be enough to get an above-average grade as long as you answer well on the more general questions we crammed into your head starting 5 years ago when your aunt picked you up."

"Wait that's actually it? Then I got this hands down."

"Well it shouldn't be that easy since you started learning math, history, and language in the education chamber a lot later than others, but that could also be your advantage since it's fresher in your brain than in others."

The guys finish their little trivia session and wait on the day to end, as Greg rants about old stories to aunt Faye and she nods while not really listening as she reads and drinks on repeat. Greg leaves on at the closing time as that day ended up being their least profitable one that year. Connors closes up shop and packs everything up and dresses into some extremely plain and casual clothes prepped to buy groceries. As he prays and sends condolences to the cute farmer near the town gates.
