The madness eventually passes after the young girls the last announcement, which means that there is some hope for those who wish to try further in the future. There's a bit of pity in the atmosphere as nearly a third of the people leave the main building while getting directed by someone outside.
During that process, Faye makes sure to pull Connor and Sohan to the far corners of the building, to finally whisper some details they should take into account,
"Alright, so you wanted to know, why I brought us in last right? Well, listen up it's because they only take in a hundred or so people at a time toward the examination hall. While this year they'll change the method of examination like they do every 5 years, the one thing that is consistent is that they bring in the most eager ones in the hall first. So those who entered the buildings first are often taken in to do it first, they may seem lucky to be able to go first, but don't be fooled there isn't even a reason for it just a sadistic whim of the headmaster around 200 years ago. Each batch should finish in an hour so now that would mean that we should go in round 6. Take that time to rest, revise or observe those who come out."
The two, particularly Connor are surprised to see his usually steady-faced but sharp-tongued aunt talk so much. Sohan who was still sleepy from the bus ride decided to nap for the first three hours, Connor chose to revise his subjects and observe those who came out, while Faye just sat there in meditation as she used something mana rotation which she hasn't taught to Connor and hasn't been told why.
There was no chance for silent footsteps as after around half an hour passed around 30 people started coming back down the hall covered from floor to ceiling in blue stained glass that seemed to respond to each step like a pebble creating ripples of water.
There was not a mutter as they walked in a messy line of sorts, they seemed sort of dazed there was not a thought behind their eyes. Eventually, they walked out the front door, hopped into vehicles of different shapes and sizes. People in the reception observed it and didn't know why they were leaving.
The clocks ticked and the first hour passed the doors reopened while everyone was still busy theorizing about the last batch to get an upper hand when it's their turn. Faye continued to remain silent as after working a quick sweat, took out a book from a purse that lay next to her. Connor stopped trying to think up possibilities for the time being and thought of exploring the place while avoiding any guards if possible.
Well, he wouldn't be able to catch sight of them even with his keen observation skills at his current level he wouldn't be able to notice professionals but he reckoned that if they wanted to they'd stop so he went and did his thing.
Faye takes a quick glance at Connor her eyes striking from above the book pages and looks back down. The exam was being held in an area behind a door when one would go down the hall. He didn't take his chances in trying to take a quick peek inside but he did notice the little girl announcer from before standing in front of the doorway.
She notices his footsteps and takes a look at him expressionlessly, well more like without care as Connor could make out. She was currently showing a true expression like when she did the announcements and so Connor shows a benign smile in her direction before turning the other way to be met with a heavy-looking, metal white door.
Upon putting the slightest effort to open it opens to an open space with open grounds around half the size of a football/soccer stadium. A completely flat space where he can see running tracks, bicycle tracks, swimming pools double the size of an average Olympic pool (So around 100m long and 50 m wide), and an entirely open field he spots the most people doing something.
Here flames combusting, water flowing, earth rising, and other elements of vary color and form; this is when Connor realizes this is the sparring ground of students who already study here probably has some second years and more. He wasn't exactly curious so he didn't bother to find out how long he'd spend his life here, he decided now would be a good chance to practice his conversation skills since it didn't go too well earlier that day trying to talk to Sohan.
He extend his hand to the first pair he meets on a bench who appear to be resting with a small smile,
"Hi I'm Connor Jobs, I'm here for the exams and thought it'd be neat to look around."
The two look at him with their eyes squinted and scan him top to bottom before putting on their own smiles and talk while in sync,
""Hi! Nice to meet you Connor I'm 'Percy' 'Mercy' and I'm 'Mercy' 'Percy' and we're the most popular twins on campus! ... 'Probably', one of them whispers""
They talk super jovially but by the time their over they're both glaring at each other,
"Come on we practiced that so many times; how many times are we going to mess it up before we get it right huh? Percy?"
"Well I could say the same to you blood-eyed witch, Mercy my ass you're the furthest thing!"
"Blood-eyed??? We both literally have the same eye and hair color the fuck are you talking about? You always talk as if we're not twins."
"What? I don't have a twin-like you hmph!"
Meanwhile, Connor just smiles as he doesn't say anything and noticed the angry-looking mask trickling up their face as it forms and sees how funny they really think it is through their eyes. He ends up thinking to himself," Okay~ if they want to put on a play I'll bite and follow through~"
"Wait, Percy! Mercy! I'm sorry I didn't intend for you to get into an argument with each other its all my fault I'm so... sorry waghhhhhhh~~!!" He wails like a small child and leans his head back as he covers his eyes not to show them his smile.
