Connor knocked his knuckles on, the barriers in front of him a few times; he could hear a few snickers and knew that others also probably tried to hold a conversation of those in the dazed state the few hours he'd been gone. Shaking his head, Connor walked back to sit with aunt Fayem paid her some small amounts to listen in to Sohan's discussion he had with the bidders, however, a lot of it was just a mess of guesses that went beyond the realm of what could happen in an entrance examination.
So Connor just sat there and waited for the time using the two theories they had come up with at first as well as a few ideas of his own. Once again the group of hypnotized people ended up leaving without turning back and so the little bit over a hundred young teens to adults waited for their time to come.
The moment has come and the examinees were bid good luck for their exam. Most of them weren't too worried since there was a higher percentage of staying back than leaving, so chances of failing the paper were probably going to be low.
You'd be surprised but... they were right! That doesn't mean there were no failures though. Upon meeting an iconic little girl in front of the door at this point they went past nonchalantly, while few gave their greetings Sohan being one. Sitting around 6 feet apart from each other over a hundred people filled the hall; Connor noticed everyone had a mask of calm on them.
This doesn't really bother Connor as he walks in without any actual care in the world. He was a bit iffy about taking the exam in the first place anyway, but he did study and do a lot of training since his aunt took him in so he might as well use them.
A minute passes and a spiky blue-haired man with sunglasses walks in and says
"Hello everyone, I will be your supervisor for this hour-long exam, I'll not be giving you a name but there is something I will tell you. All of you are currently hypnotized, you will be taking this exam while being so. In order to pass solve the multi-subject paper in front of you, this could prove difficult due to the hypnosis bearing weights in your minds. There are two types of hypnosis put on you it is your job to figure it out or push through till the end... START!"
Spikey blue hair claps and then disappears. Everyone is stunned by this happening but maintains a relatively calm mind. Connor observes where the man was just standing, rubs his eyes, and still sees nothing. Rubbing his nose bridge he decides what path he should take first and sees 9 questions 3 each pertaining to math, science, and history based on the sub-titles.
He solves the first question in each section in around 14 minutes with no significant issues. In the past, it'd be seen as quite difficult to solve these questions given, though in modern time it can be seen as fairly simple to solve with the use of mass-produced education capsules for 200 daltons. Yet the knowledge taught doesn't necessarily make them capable of using it.
It is force-fed into the minds of all who use the capsule, so it takes a while to actually be used to the information in your head as the most basic ones only give information, not understanding. A lot of families don't mind this but his aunt Faye and the old man Greg who often visited the bar learned from experience that it's best to practice more than just knowing it.
So Connor had the theoretical practice, while Sohan spent his days observing his family and having it crammed into him. The whole class was having a relatively easy time but ended up using a bit more time since they had less practice. It was upon entering the third question suddenly everything took a turn in difficulty.
The difficulty felt like it skyrocketed and there was a tension looming in the heads of everyone. Here Connor and everyone knew this must be the hypnosis; they could recognize the questions and their solutions but a lot suddenly super stressed out.
No one knew where the supervisor was, and the questions felt unnecessarily difficult even though they knew it wouldn't be for them.
"Ok, fuu~ let's straighten out a bit I need to keep my thoughts clear so I can answer this shitty question."Connor was the first among the group to push through the strain on his mind probably because he didn't care about the failure in the first place.
A few others couldn't say the same though as under the stress of failure and no appearing supervisor, some opted to start asking the few that followed Connor in calming their thoughts even if there were looming negative thoughts. "Since no one is here maybe... maybe I can cheat?" People started thinking and so the failures who started talking also began standing and Connor and the others realized that half an hour was coming close understood this is where the hard part truly ended.
Only around half an hour passed the 20 or so cheaters started walking along through the examination hall. Connor without restraining his curiosity he observes the eyes of the unthinking examines and tries to pick out details to recognize how it looks to be hypnotized. He expected it to be a bit difficult to pick out any specific detail but surprisingly there's a vague looking spiral in the iris which blends in almost inconspicuously, but Connor's green eyes are capable of picking out at least that much.
