After the kiss, Yue Yue stayed silent and was unable to speak one word. Zhi An cleared his throat and looked elsewhere. Both of them stayed silent without uttering a single sound. To release some tension in the air, she blurted out a question.
"So... did they leave yet?" Yue Yue asked to break the awkward silence. Zhi An looked around and he saw no one.
"I think so, do you want to head in? It's getting a bit windy." Zhi An walked behind her as they walked toward the cafe. After going in, there were already plenty of people.
"You can sit in one of the tall stools over there, I can make you something. Do you want your regular matcha latte?" He looked at her and making sure she heard it because there was a lot of chattering inside the cafe. Yue Yue looked at him and nodded, "Thank you."
Yue Yue got herself an empty seat right in front of the barista counter. She watched Zhi An making her favorite matcha latte while secretly enjoying the kiss they had. Zhi An made it extra special with whipped cream and matcha sprinkle on top.
"Wow! This is amazing! Thank you!" Yue Yue took a small sip and her face brightened up. She gave a thumbs up while drinking another sip.
"You can open your own coffee shop in the future."
Zhi An sat beside her and looked at his phone. He showed her some pictures while he was still in the White Wolf Counter-Terrorism Unit.
"This is the picture of my teammates. Two of them died. I'll show it to you but if I look at it for a long time, I can't handle it." Zhi An looked down the table without looking at the picture. He was afraid his attack will come back. Yue Yue made the photo a bit larger using her thumb and index finger.
"You have four people in your team?" She asked. He nodded.
"By the way, I bumped into a guy before bumping into you. His uniform had a White Wolf Counter-Terrorism logo on it. Do you know who that is?"
"Yu Haobing." He quickly replied, "He was my best buddy. After that stuff happened, we became enemies." Yue Yue nodded and listened attentively.
"Have you thought about going back?"
Zhi An paused for awhile before answering. He fidgeted his fingers and tensed up just a tiny bit.
"I did. But I didn't have the courage to face them. It was partially my fault but something was confusing me. I don't know if my memories are playing with me but something was off when that incident happened."
Yue Yue didn't ask any further questions and returned his phone to him. She looked at and placed her hand on his left wrist.
"We'll figure it out together. Do you want to accompany me somewhere? Or do you still want to work?" She asked.
Zhi An saw his boss and told him that he'll call it a day. His boss was lenient since they have enough staffs.
"Let's go." He said, "Before my boss change his mind."
Half an hour later, they reached Yue Yue's apartment building complex and Zhi An was slightly confused.
"Are we stopping here?" His mind immediately went to the other direction but he told himself to calm down.
"Yes, I need to change my clothes. I can't go out like this. What did you think it was?" She laughed at him. Zhi An cleared his throat again, "Do I wait here or do I go with you?"
"It's your choice. I'll just change and grab a few things. You can wait in the lobby if you don't want to come with me."
"I'll come with you." Zhi An placed his hands into his trousers and looked the other way.
"Such a tsundere." She thought to herself, "but, he can be quite cute."
On the elevator, there were a lot of people. Yue Yue was about to be squished by a random guy but Zhi An didn't think of anything but immediately shielded her with both of his hands. His back was against another man and his hands were holding on to the rails.
"I... I didn't want you to get hurt. I'm not thinking about anything else. Don't worry." Zhi An tried to control himself but Yue Yue secretly enjoyed it. She secretly pictured his abs and biceps that made her blush.
"What a fine man." She thought.
After getting off the elevator, Yue Yue used her fingerprint to go inside her small apartment room.
"Please come in. You can drink from the water bottle on the counter or you can get one ice cold in the fridge. Make yourself at home. I'll be quick."
Yue Yue made a trip to the bathroom and splashed herself with cold water.
"Yue Yue, calm down. Calm down... don't overthink." She went into her bedroom and sat down for a bit. Her heart rate skyrocketed when she saw how Zhi An's breathing rate changed and the image of a sweat drop from his head when they were on the elevator. She shook her head and tried to forget about everything.
She changed into a jean and wore a light sweater, she did some make up then came out of her room.
"I'm ready now." Yue Yue looked at Zhi An and he stared right back at her.
"You look great!" Zhi An complimented her and both of them got ready to leave, "By the way, where are we going next?"
"It's a surprise! But first, I have to get my car. We're driving there." She replied.
It was half an hour drive to the amusement park but surprisingly, there were still plenty of parking spaces. She parked into one of them and they got out of the car.
"It's my first time coming here." Zhi An said. It's been a very long time since he first went on a roller coaster.
"The good thing is... it's free in the evening. Even for working adults like us." Yue Yue said with a bright smile on her face.
As they got into the amusement park, she showed him around.
"Where do you want to go first?" She asked him. Zhi An looked around and saw there are less people lining up for the Ferris wheel.
"How about the Ferris Wheel?" He replied and she agreed, "Sure."
As they got on to the Ferris Wheel, they sat on the opposite side. Zhi An looked outside while the Ferris wheel started moving.
"Do you want to hear something?" She asked.
"Go ahead." He looked at her with full attention.
"I actually had a fear of height when I was young. There was a huge fire inside the old apartment I used to live in. A special rescue personnel had to tie me up before going down. I was very afraid of height back then so I cried a lot. But I still remembered his smile and calm demeanor, he told to close my eyes, picture my favorite things, and count to ten slowly. I pictured a beach that my mom and I used to go to. When I finished counting, I was already down on the ground. It made me less scared as I got older. Sorry for the long story."
Zhi An shook his head, "I'm glad you told me. I can try that method next time when I feel afraid." Both of them smiled at each other and looked at the beautiful sunset.
"It's so beautiful!" Yue Yue took out her phone and snapped a photo. Zhi An did the same.
Zhi An wanted to change his background wallpaper to the sunset photo he just took. It was his first beautiful memory with a girl who changed his life. Then, he secretly took another photo of only herself.
"Did you just take a picture of me?" She asked him and he shook his head, "Nope, not at all. There was some dust here so I'm just cleaning it off."
Yue Yue got suspicious so she leaned forward, "Let me see! Let me see!" Zhi An shook his head and hid his phone and smiled. Suddenly the Ferris wheel stopped and both of them leaned forward. The distance between their lips were only few centimeters apart.
