Chapter 25 - | The real Him |

"Is something wrong?" I ask as we went quiet after I explained to her what happens back in the city I was in.

"No, nothing. Just wish I could help you, I wish I can help you" I crease my brows and stare at her with a confused frown.

"Mom?" She took my hand and smiled, "I don't know what your father is going to say when you meet him, but I hope he isn't rude to you" I nodded with a neutral face.

And there I stood in front of my father's office door, His assistant staring at me with empathy. Even she knew how that man was, I clear my throat as she knocked on his door and opened it. He stopped mid-way of handling a file with a young man and glanced at me.

For just a second, before going back to his talk with the man.

I stood near them for quite a while as they discussed some matters till that man finally stood up and nodded before turning back and leaving me alone with my father. My nervous state leaked out, very obvious to him as he didn't hold back a comment.

"You seem overly nervous for someone who left her house and family to go live with some-"He paused, "random people." I never glance up at him. I only stared at the ground. I had no intentions of talking to him after the way he treated me right after I got back.

Max said he wanted me back. It seemed like my father was completely fine with me being away. It was just my mother and Max who seemed worried.

"And very quiet for someone who almost got me in deep trouble because your shameless self ran away on your wedding day and got caught with that Aaron guy who dared to threaten me with your name"

I left my eyes to leave tears and my throat hurt. It was dry, It hurt. My chest hurt. My legs felt like they were about to go numb.

"Do you know how many people it took for me to the convenience that this information about my daughter-" He clenched his jaw. "Ran away from her house, and settled with some low-status people. What did you think? that you will just leave and never face any consequences to your actions? You put my name to shame! "

I bite my inner cheek as tears ran down my face. My anger slowly boiling up.

"Because of you, I lost the contract that I was supposed to sign after your marriage. Because of you, your mother suffers the gossips of other family members! Because of you! I had to send your sister away! All you had to do was marry Maximillian! Do you even care about how your mother and sister suffered. Do you care about the gossips and questions we received!"

"Father-"

"Silence! I am talking and you are now allowed to talk between my sentences. Who do you think you are huh? Some princess who can just run away and live a happy life at the cost of her family!?" I clenched my teeth.

"You are nothing but a disappointment! A huge mistake! You are worth nothing! and if you wish to make it up even a little for your life to be worth it, you have to own up to your mistakes and do as you are told!"

"Stop it!" I yelled. I had finally cracked. I had nothing more left in my heart for this man but pure Hate.

"After all I did, You got only one thing out of it. Anger. You never even cared. I feel sorry for you father! Because I had people who loved me and appreciated me for who I was. But you? You don't. Everyone hates you. Even mom. And I feel sorry for you-"

The hot sting over my left cheek stopped me in the middle of my sentence. And hot tears ran down my cheeks burning my skin.

" Would've been better if I had a son." That really hurt me. It broke me. But I chuckled.

"Ya, you are right. You don't deserve a daughter like me. And I wouldn't wish for a father like you even if I had no one in the world to call family"

"Shut up!" He yelled and I flinched.

"I see you have shown me your true colors. I am glad to announce that I already have great news for someone like you."

And the next thing I knew, I was down on my knees. My legs gave out on me. I had no hope left in my life after all. I just knew it.

"You are getting married off. You will be locked in till next week."

So he found someone else he can sell me to for his own happiness huh.

I chuckled as I saw him storm out of his office as I lay on the floor with my numb body frozen. My tears leaking down my chin and my hands shaking badly.

I look at the door as the doorknob turned and it cracked open. The maid brought in plates and a new jar of water setting it on the table in front of me.

"Please have some food Ma'am. Your mother is very worried" She said walking towards me and I leaned back on the bed frame wrapping my arms around myself as she started folding the unused clothes I dropped while changing into my nightdress and then she walked towards me.

Standing right beside me. She softly pulled my sheets away grabbing my legs and sat next to me as her hands slightly massaged my legs. "Miss?"

"Stop doing that and stop calling me that," I said but she just gave me a sad sigh, "You have to eat something Evey. We all are worried sick about you. Your mother had been standing in front of your door for an hour-" I looked up sitting straight cutting her off mid-word.

She continued. "-hour, She couldn't get Sir to unlock the door and see you. I am only allowed to be in here for 20minutes." I looked at the closed door.

"There a man standing there guarding" she muttered staring at i. I clenched my jaw grabbing my head with both my hands in pure anger and frustration.

"He can spend all the money-making sure I don't run and am Alive, But he can't put the slightest effort in trying to treat me like a daughter, I feel like I am kidnapped by an old man to be sold off"

She sucks in a deep breath with horror on her face and I laugh with a deep disgust on my face.

"I know that's what you feel too. Don't give me that look, Lisa. You have been with me since I was sixteen" She closed her eyes for a second and tilted her head down.

"You Mumma want you to be healthy. She and Sir Max might be working something out for you. I heard her talk to him this morning, He didn't say much. But I think they will do something to stop this" I roll my eyes.

"There is nothing my mother can do to change his decision. She never could, never will. I will only get her in deeper trouble. Ask her to stop for me. I think I can handle all this myself" I said standing up and walking into the bathroom.

Lisa followed me as I took my nightrobe off as she started filling the bathtub while adding some things to it.

"You can leave, I will eat. I wanna be alone" She sighs as I undress behind the curtain and get in. I thought she left, but as the bubbled covered the water she turned the tap off and grabbed my hair brushing it. I rolled my eyes.

"I am not some princess, Lisa. I can do it myself" I could feel her deep frown behind my back.

"You use to love me brushing your hair. That's what your mother did till father asked her to stop" I grab a handful of bubbles staring at them.

"Where is he?" I asked. "We haven't seen your father for two days. He only came to appoint a guard at your door and make sure you never left this room. He wanted us to feed you properly. He-He said you will be getting married in five days"

I gulp.

"I am not surprised. I just wonder who he tricked this time to sell me off too and get profit off of it" She gasped, "Evey, Don't say that, At least I hope the man you marry is good to you."

"Good?" I chuckle.

It was the next day in the afternoon already when I woke up. I had nothing to do in the room. The Tv was taken, My phone was taken. The windows were locked shut. I couldn't open them.

As I took a shower and brushed my hair tucking it away in a bun after drying it. I took a random dress and wore it, taking my chair and standing on it.

My hands reached or the top shelf of my closet and I grabbed three boxes. Sitting on the floor and opening them. Looking through some childhood things, photos. I thought had the perfect childhood. I was known as the typical spoiled rich kid in my school because had the prettiest clothes.

The perfect food. The prettiest shoes. But inside this house. I was still locked up.
