Chapter 12 - Part 11

RHEIN'S POINT OF VIEW

Out of fear, I ran nonstop. However, wherever I went, I could not find the exit. I was like that for several minutes until I stopped. Then I just realized I was inside a vast maze.

I slapped my cheeks five times. I also pinched my arms so that I would wake up completely to this nonsense but still nothing. I was still inside.

"Help! Can anyone hear me?! Please answer if anyone is there! Please! Help me get out!" No matter what shouting I did, no one replied. I was the only one here.

I closed my eyes tightly and thought. I breathed deeply to calm down. I should not be confused in this situation. I had to think of a way to escape instead of being scared.

Whatever mystery was this happening to me right now, I had no idea how and what it really was. If it had anything to do with that witch, hopefully, I would never have known about her.

However, if it had something to do with what my friends witnessed, why had nothing happened to them like this? Why did not they tell me anything? Why it seemed... I felt like I was the target?

I bit my lower lip. "How rare. What am I thinking?" Why would a witch be interested in me? What a weird hunch.

I automatically turned my back when I felt the strong wind coming from there. There was thick black smoke and gradually became shadows with a human figure. I could not count in my hands the number of them. I was about to run away when they started walking closer. Unfortunately, there were also shadows lurking on the other side of the aisle.

"Crap." They were getting closer and closer to me so I no longer knew what was the right thing to do. It was impossible for me to avoid this huge number of them. I had no choice but to fight.

Though scared and nervous, I prepared myself. I quickly raised my fists.

I smiled to myself. I did not expect I would be able to use what I learned from the special lessons Sister Rona enrolled me to in this situation.

I was annoyed that I kicked in the face the first one who tried to punch me. They rushed almost at the same time after that so I forgot my fear and nervousness temporarily.

With all my strength, I cast the last shadow and kicked his side.

I could not avoid but wonder. A shadow does not speak so it makes sense that I did not even hear a groan from them. How doubtful, even if they were just shadows, they were still as strong as humans.

I did not know how. I was no longer shocked when they disappeared. I got used to the unearthly events I first experienced.

I became alert when the surroundings changed again. Now, I was placed inside a large room. There was no other lighting except from the dim rays of light passing through the windows. Somehow, I saw the entirety of it. Its designs were a bit uncommon because the things were black... from the bed to the curtains... even the ceiling, floor, and walls.

I suddenly remembered what my friends had told me. This was exactly where they had seen the witch.
