RHEIN'S POINT OF VIEW
I did not endure my lump anymore because what Grandpa Lembo was saying immediately caught my attention. "'W-we'? W-what do you mean?"
"I told you earlier that we are not ordinary people. A dark mage has nothing to do with changing the color of your eyes. It is only natural that it happens because your eighteenth birthday is coming up, when the seal that hides your power will be broken."
When he mentioned that, I just remembered that tomorrow is my birthday. Last week, Sister Rona and my friends were preparing for the celebration, but it looks like it would not be held.
"It is your birthday tomorrow, right?"
I nodded in response. "I forgot, to be honest. Of course, I was attacked by a dark mage. Then, I found out that I am not a normal human."
Father, Mother, and Sister came to my mind. Are they also mages?
"Being a mage is hereditary, Rhein."
I automatically turned to Grandfather Lembo. "Does Sister know? Why did not she tell me?! Is that why she made me take special lessons from you for that reason? Does she also know the real you? Does she also know that dark mage?!" I leaned against the car seat in annoyance. I am just an ignorant fool.
"Calm down. Do not blame your sister for not telling you. There is a law that the mages follow that a mage cannot know his true nature if his or her power is sealed and if he or she lives in the world of humans."
"Why? Do mages have their own world? Is Mnarra real?"
"We have our own world. You are right. It is Mnarra." He sighed. "Your sister is aware who I am. I was the one who advised her for me to teach you so that it would be easier for you to control your power, in case the seal inside your body is broken." He looked into my eyes. "The change in the color of your eyes is proof that your body is ready for the release of your hidden power."
I looked at the reflection of my eyes in the windshield of the car. My green eyes shine in the dark.
My mind still could not process Grandfather Lembo's words so I just asked, "What am I?"
"You are a forest mage, for now."
"W-what do you mean? Are there different types of mages? There is nothing mentioned about that in your book."
He smiled. "One day you will find out why."
When we arrived to Grandfather Lembo's house, he took me to a room where I stay every time I come here. He has no one else in his big home except himself. I do not know the story but having a wife and children is not for him, so he is just alone. I have teased him several times but he does not want to tell me why he believes in himself like that.
