Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

One of the leaders slammed the table as he stood up. His face was full of anger.

"Assassinate?! If it was an ambush then I could agree to it to some extent but assassination are the tactics that those cowardly humans would do! Are you intending for us to become cowardly?!"

He shouted his argument with a spiteful voice. He was not alone, there were two more leaders that wasn't as angry as him but were nodding as approval.

Of course, that doesn't mean there are no supporter of Korzak's idea. Three leaders agreed with Korzak's idea of assassination as they too must've thought it was the best way to go about their current situation.

"Let's calm down first. Leader Korzak, can you tell us about the plan first?"

One of the leaders that's neutral to either side asked Korzak.

"Yes, of course. So I intend to form an elite force composed of only the most powerful orc from each tribe. Then the elite force will sneak behind the enemy frontlines and attack the enemy commander from behind."

"And what about the army at front? They wouldn't just leave just because their commander is dead. They'll surely be disorganised but they're still demons regardless."

"Of course, our army will attack too which will also distract the attention of the enemy. Since enemy troops are sent to the frontlines, the rear would be left with lesser chances of us failing."

"Wouldn't that result in lot casualties on our side? Without our most powerful orcs, our army's prowess will decrease considerably since it's not just one or two powerful orcs gone."

"That's another reason why I'm hesitant to speak out this plan."

The tent began to become noisy as discussion about the plan was talked about between the leaders.

"About that problem, I think a pincer attack is good enough. Although, whether the elite force can execute the pincer attack is another matter" Another orc leader added to the current assassination plan.

"It's a risky double-edged plan. If the elite force fails, our army will be annihilated." One of the leaders opposing the plan said out.

"But won't this plan be the most successful than all the ones before?" And another spoke out.

Argument broke out as the orcs are unable to reach a conclusion of agreement with each other.

Korzak exited the tent and was greeted by one of his subordinates, Jaerg.

"How did it go, chief?" Jaerg asked at the tired Korzak.

"Horribly good" Korzak answered with a weird answer.

Jaerg's expression was filled with question at the answer he just received from his chief. Seeing the expression of Jaerg, Korzak sighed and elaborated on his answer.

"The leaders were able to agree on my plan, but discontent was still visible in everyone."

Although Jaerg doesn't know what the plan is, he decided not to ask and just nodded along.

They both soon arrived at Korzak's tent. Korzak sent Jaerg away as he entered his tent. Inside the tent was nothing more than just a bed and a weapon rack. There was also an armor stand beside the rack. A very simplistic space for an orc.

. . . . . . . . . . .

A woman was sitting on a throne with her legs crossed. She wore a black and red dress with excellent embroidery and craftsmanship. Her dress could be said to have been made of only the most excellent materials. However, she also had a tiara on her head. The tiara had a sinister aura leaking from it, but that doesn't overshadow it's elegance in the slightest bit. Her appearance is a beauty that feels otherworldly for the residents of the Land of Dawn.

Her beauty gave the feeling of dangerous rose. Her eyes were ruby red that seem to sparkle under the moonlight and her lips were also red possibly either from cosmetics or naturally so.

"Give me the reports of the scout"

Her voice was soft but had a harsh tone. Despite the harsh tone however, anyone could tell she is of a higher position than all the demons in the army combined.

A demon beside her throne handed over a clipboard containing the information about the orc army they are currently facing.

"Hmm, so they're laying low for now. It's already been almost a week so I thought those brutes would've charged in immediately. I guess the army father gave me is just that fearsome"

The woman said with a tint of joy in her voice.

"Princess, I think it's best to not let our guard down for the time being. The orcs have a long history of war behind them and calling them brutes might be unbefitting since their intellect is more or less the same as humans. Of course, your highness's army is also a major variable in their inaction"

The demon beside her spoke in a voice with nothing but politeness.

The woman is Princess Alisia Hetruvia, one of the daughters of the Demon King Zaddith Hetruvia. She was tasked by her father with convincing the orcs to join their side either by force or by words. However, Alisia did not understand why his father would want the orcs to join their side.

"Very well, then what do you suggest we do now, Orin"

The demon named Orin bowed slightly and paused for a while before speaking his thoughts.

"For now, I suggest your highness to be wary of the enemy. They might be waiting for reinforcements or maybe trying to exhaust our forces by prolonging the war"

Alisia pondered over Orin's words as she thinks of her next orders. Silence filled the room for a few minutes before Alisia began to open her mouth to speak.

"Then, we should continue to observe the enemy for a bit longer. If they don't attack two days from now, then we will charge in first. I want to finish father's orders as soon as possible."

After Alisia sent out her orders, Orin bowed down as he left the tent to relay Alisia's orders to the shadow demons who were in charge of scouting.

After Orin left the tent and Alisia couldn't feel his presence anymore, she blurted out a mutter.

"I'll make sure to not fail you, father"
