Saverra Amadeus. Born in April 27th, 1995. Although she was born in a stable family, she failed the meet the requirements of her rigorous, adoptive parents.
Her mother had passed away due to excessive blood loss during birth, and her father had lost his job that same day.
Knowing he could no longer sustain his living, breathing daughter's needs; he felt ashamed, and instead left her at a fairly known orphanage before committing suicide.
He believed it was no longer possible to live on without his wife; his only daughter suffering due to his impecuniousity.
This tragic event did not seem to have been disclosed, the officials keeping to themselves regarding the incident. But, growing up alone was the least Saverra wanted in starting off her journey through her first years in life.
Despite turning out benighted due to her current family's treatment towards their new daughter, this just seemed persuade her even so to keep herself going.
As a teenager, she had no such thing as time or money in her hands; it all belonged to her parents, whether she preferred it or not. Likewise with her life...
Even as an adult, she often worked side jobs as either a janitor or a maid in wealthy family's homes...and this lead to her financial instability, as well as her now strained relationship with her family.
You see, as much money that they owned, they really couldn't care less of their "daughter".
They saw as her nothing but a tool to make some extra bucks, moreover valued their money more than anything else they ever owned.
Even her "mother" and "father" didn't value each other; there were clear signs of cheating and an unloyal relationship between the two, but since both had money on their side, there wasn't an easy way out of the marriage.
Both came from noble families, but seemed as if they had never learnt of the words "loyalty" and "materialistic". In her senior years, Saverra then received the news she had bone cancer, having nothing but herself as she was disowned long ago.
They claimed that their wealth does not belong to such a rotten scoundrel, even after she had worked day and night to earn money for only her parents.
Being born alone, this wasn't unusual. Mistreatment was all the more less her normal life, and having been poorly educated had just made matters worse.
Her life ended at the age of 77, just 2 to 3 years after she was proclaimed to have bone cancer. She didn't even receive a proper burial, just like her parents...truly a shame.
"That seems like all of it. Your request to retain your memories has not been denied and is currently being processed, but it seems you have a lot to say regarding your youth?"
"With all due respect, of course. My youth has been nothing but a repugnant string of lies and betrayal; should I not be worthy enough of receiving your finest subjects?"
"You are not one to choose, mortal. Our judgement shan't be claimed as blind conviction by you or anyone lower who dares lay their feet in this realm. This realm belongs to us gods and none such inferior species."
"I truly hope you haven't misunderstood what I meant, your honor."
"I understood quite well. You want to gain our trust, our favorability? You shall have to try harder, then."
Her trial had lasted for a few more minutes before she was soon sent back to her respective chambers in the purgatory. She was alone again, in all this white that she had never seen before. The trial was her only hope; clearly all her efforts were in vain...
"Subject T-77. Please proceed to the next trial."
Saverra seemed upset associating with the previous event, and proceeded to deny the following trial.
However, this was not acceptable and she was soon sent in against her will by hands who seemed to grab her from the darkness that lingered inside the door...
"Subject T-77. Welcome."A bright, but strangely dressed god welcomed her to his quarters. It was furnished quite opulently, but was rather lacking in space.
"I truly apologize for reaching out late, but you see, Kronos wasn't so eager as to let me meet you."
"As in...I'm communicating with greek gods?"
"Correct. Although it's not exactly what I'd call believable, I shall just pertain to your judge, which so happens to be Eris."
"Eris...the goddess of chaos?"
"I'm fairly shocked you are aware of her identity."
"I research about greek gods a little bit when I feel senseless."
"Ah, I see...I'm a little flattered. My name is Osiris."
"Oh, Lord Osiris?"
"Yes, but you may refer to me as Reese. Although, that wouldn't be very formal..."
"Oh, its alright. You don't prefer being faced with any sort of formalities, if I may ask?"
"Not at all. I was a former king and now, a god, but it isn't a problem for me to have close relations with humans—or should I say, mortals."
"I see...apologies for making you wait and denying the trial from the very beginning."
"It's acceptable. It seems reasonable as such that you took a disliking to Eris's way of judging mortals like you. She is truly...a little...arrogant, if I may say so."
"Ah, I understand. Also, how is it that I have retained my younger looks here? I passed on at the age of 77, should I not appear that age, even after passing?"
"Oh, ahaha! I'm afraid that's just how Gaia wanted to keep your appearance as. Well, she is after all, what most mortals have described her as...a true goddess."
(Gaia is not identified as an antagonist here, but instead, portrayed as a solicitous character moving in and out of the storyline at most times.)
"I have not much worth as so to have the ability to come to her personally. But, has she been tasked to process...my request?"
"That is correct. Gaia has been tasked with most of you mortals' affairs, as well as mine a long, long time ago."
"(Then could I ask her for a favor and finally receive a decent life?...)"
We are taken to her quarters, as she is either approving or declining each mortal's requests and conditions. None must be left behind, all is to cross past these marble floors, where Gaia sits on her golden throne...
"Saverra Amadeus. Died at the age of 77—oh, I've heard of this one. She had gone through trial not long ago, but...her request is relatively high-profile for someone so lowly positioned."
Gaia snatched her files once more, scanning through her acts of faith and passed hardships...despite being a commoner, her life was a lost cause, deprived of her parents at birth and growing up surrounded by abuse all her life. It seemed pitiful; sympathy stroked the goddess's heart.
At the time, the best chance that anyone could have at life was the body of a little girl, subjected to experimentation and set for substitution of a female war veteran's daughter.
Was this really the best choice? She took a few more minutes lost in thought, thinking of all possible outcomes...however, there really weren't much consequences to it.
Without any more hesitation left in her soul, she immediately reached out to Osiris, as he had just sent Saverra back to her chambers."Osiris, have you spoken to her?..."
"Previously, yes. You want to help her, no?"
"I do want to help her...she was truthful enough to admit unbeknowst my soon to be verdict; I wish to give her a good life this time."
Osiris sighed in relief, and he hoped that the poor young woman would be able to appreciate what she could."Shall we send her off now?"
"Perhaps so. We'd better not keep her waiting, yes?"
"I've approved her request; she may rest easy now..."The goddess smiled, double checking her safety before sending her off.
A rumbling sound echoed through Saverra's chambers, and her vision faded to nothing but the void. Her ears no longer abided by its abilities; she felt rather slimy as soon as her eyesight had reverted.
"Subject Lumia Serenova, correct?"Saverra had been startled by the entire ordeal; it felt far too vivid..."Oh..um, yes."She could only respond with what she could. Little did she know, she is still speaking to a god...just not from the inaugural realm.
"Please proceed to the next room, little one."The man, pink haired and suited with a golden framed monocle, lead her out to the next room.
The laboratory reeked with nothing but the smell of rotten slime; wait, how did she know what kind of smell it had...?
"L-lumia...come to papa."Another man, seemingly a human, approached Saverra. She knew for herself this must be the girl's father, and so she felt obliged to come up to him.
The man lifted her cautiously, treating her as if she was but a fragile object. What a strange young man...
"It's alright, my dear...you're safe now...we'll head back here soon to say thank you to Uncle Xiu Liao."
"(Is it just me, or does he sound quite...sullen?)"
"Don't worry...mama is okay, as well as brother..."
"(Something's not right. It feels as if...either of those he spoke of are...dead.)"
"Alright...let's go home."The man ferried Saverra on his back, exiting the facility and deliberately avoiding the center of the building, although it was clearly faster to have gone through that way...
"Papa will buy you lots of gifts this Christmas, so you don't need to worry. Mama is also very busy, so you musn't ask for her anytime soon, alright?"
Saverra nodded, but in reality...she was highly confused...she had truly received a blessing, as well as her request being approved, but to adapt to this new identity entirely will be a little...complicated.
