Chapter 2 - 2 - The faction

"It's time we go back and meet Uncle Velios as well."The man, being human, also continued with his sentence:"I'm also very sorry sweetie, papa isn't capable of teleportation."

Saverra was uncertain of the girl's age nor the status of this world, but at least now she knew for herself there existed magic in such a strange looking world, filled with dilemnas and unexpected scenarios.

"Teleportation?...It's okay dad, you don't have to worry. As long as we can make it."The young man felt reassured by his daughter's words; although, he decided to contact an old friend of his to make things easier for his little girl.

Honestly, she actually thought this was not to happen anytime soon, but if it really were to start off like this, then all the least she could do for him was to let him be.

"Yes, yes. No, you don't have to take Quainn with you, Quentel will be enough. Thank you, yes, I'll see you later."

Before one had known, dusk had struck. It seemed so that time ticked faster than itself; there was none left to waste."Senior!"A woman, figure sculpted scrupulously, laid her focus towards the girl.(We will now be using the name "Lumia" for Saverra, due to the fact that is now her identity.)

As she stood still on her floating sword, she began to enunciate:"Ruren...something about your kid doesn't align with her said description."

Ruren takes another glance towards his child, but doesn't get the idea."Nothing's wrong with her. She's completely healthy and fine, I see nothing wrong with my daughter?..."

She could only stare back at him, unable to convey her point out of disappointment.

"Up until now...I still can't comprehend you. It's

clearly obvious, and yet you remain unable to see through such...what a joke."

"Quentel. I'm well aware you happen to be one of my seniors; however, the least you could offer me after retrieving my daughter were to be felicitations."

"I understand you well enough. But, considering you're human, you must also know for yourself you can't be with Nova forever. You could always leave her to us, she'd make a great representative."

"My wife is..."He glanced back at his daughter, before halting the conversation."We'll talk back at the faction quarters. My daughter doesn't need to hear about such private matters."

"(What private matters?...Representatives?...)"

"Seems about right. We'd better get going before it gets too dark; mutants are on the loose."The woman then made space for the father and daughter on her sword."Hop on, it's only a few minute ride."

The sky was just as vast and bright, as the world remained still. Delineated, and yet seemed so artificial...was it just because she'd never been so high up in the night sky before?

The girl ran her hands through the river-like clouds, the woman gazing back at her."(Still a child...perhaps I really was mistaken earlier.)"

The man smiled over his daughter's actions, but did not join her. Maybe it was just because Quentel was right in front of them, but none of that mattered now...the sword began to lower itself, farther and farther away from the stars.

Lumia frowned, but remembered that she didn't have much time to relish her childhood and had to start working her way into this faction, uncovering whatever she could to make her way into the top.

"We've arrived. You'd better make sure your daughter didn't crack on the way here."(This a metaphor, completely directed towards Ruren's over-cautiousness over his own daughter.)

The facility towered amongst the rest of the buildings; apparations seemingly lingered all around the quarters, it was as if these wisps served as its lighting...

"Kid, if you're curious, we don't use actual lighting. They cost way too much; more or less, attract too much attention. Magic is always convenient at times like these, so you'd better start learning."

Lumia felt overwhelmed by the overbearing burden of ruling the faction one day; were there really this much non humans in one faction? And learning magic? How does one even do so?

"Oh, you've turned pale darling! Don't stress over learning magic, it's not that difficult. Assuming you are Nova's "daughter", could I really judge?"

Her smirk was much enticing, as if it was inviting her to join them...although, for what?

"I'd beg to differ, senior...but, thank you for trying to ease my daughter's disqueitude."

Lumia then remembered her previous parents' treatment towards her. She felt ashamed; why was it that she still had mercy remaining for such heartless people?

If they were ever here, she vowed to shove their words down their throat—"KID! HEY, ARE YOU DONE YET?"

Startled by the sudden exclamations, she looks back at her father."What is it darling, you're not feeling at home with Senior?"She undeniably nodded; she really couldn't tell if the woman was trying to be nice or intimidating.

"Senior, you'd better stop scaring her, alright?"

"What? I didn't even do anything!"

Ruren marched off with Lumia into the facility, as the woman watched from a distance. She sighed, but she didn't regret teasing him at all.

What welcomed her was not unique architecture, but art oblivious to it's own logical explanations."Father...why so many...floaties?"

She tried her best to sound much like a child who knew nothing of the world(which she mostly likely is at the moment), but her voice was just as raspy as before.

"Sweetheart, those are not floaties. You see those square things? Those are rooms, most likely lifted and still floating through levitation magic. The faction personnel(representatives) came up with that idea."

She could obviously decipher what he had meant, but decided that stating of the fact would lose its entire point...whether light would soon shine on the truth didn't really matter, she simply wanted to keep it that way.

"Magic?"

"Ahahaha! Who am I kidding, you're too young to really be knowing of levitation. However, you should really start learning magic soon. The most applicable way to do that is kindergarten."

Being all ears at most times, she managed to make use of all this information to chip through the world's mechanics. However, she wasn't too keen on the idea of restarting all her years in kindergarten.

But in fact, she barely knew anything. Being half-witted her whole life, she only knew basic english and had traces of unattended education. Although, she had enough sense racked into her memory.

After some time, she had to learn to accept this. At least, she was finally going to receive the proper education she so long yearned for.

"Papa won't be taking you to kindergarten, though. Papa will always be busy at work, so Auntie Yusha will be taking care of you in the meantime."

"(Who's Yusha?)"

Another woman, seemingly even more audacious than the other, approached them from the higher levels of the building. She levitated skillfully, as if it was child's play.

"My my, Ruren! How have you been! Your daughter's appearance matches an awful lot with Nova, it's quite surprising!"She had lighter pink hair, compared to the man Lumia had met earlier. They didn't seem to look like siblings.

"Oh? Why are you staring at me so hard, sweetie? Do I look too much like Epoch? Ahahaha!"Her laughing sounded just as daring, but over all she wasn't so bad compared to the previous one.

"Tell me darling, was Quentel as so mean to your father? Well, that's just how she is. She's even as mean to my husband..."

"(She has a husband, huh?)"

"My husband Deltus just wouldn't shut it about her arrogance, I can tell you about that. In all seriousness though, she gets on his nerves a lot more than you'd expect."

"Yusha, it's not like she understands every word you say..."

"Oh, right! Ahahaha!"

"(Seriously, her laugh itself is annoying though...it's either it's actually her or she's telling the truth.)"

"Either way, I'd be glad to watch over your little girl. She seems just as tranquil enough as Deltus, I'm certain they'd get along just fine..."

"..."

"Gaia...with all due respect. Why would you do so, really?"

"I'm stunned you'd even bother respect thee, Eris. I want nothing but peaceful dominion over my realm; you are not to overestimate your position."

"Peace, peace. You truly are two-faced, nevertheless a disappointment. I can take your kindness into account, but siding with Osiris had to be worst mistake you'd ever have made."

"Was it because he was a former? It doesn't really matter, does it? As long as he had performed such feats, he is welcome to ascend towards a brighter realm. This is but his collateral for ruling his kingdom well enough."

"Mortal turned God? Ridiculous. It's almost as if you speak of him highly enough that he was originally one."

"Are you trying to alter my decision regarding the mortal or are you simply degrading Osiris?"

"How about I leave you alone to guess that for yourself, hm?"She quickly directed her golden staff towards the narcissistic prima donna, but did not utter a word. Eris backed away; she feared so that Gaia would no longer be taking any more excuses.

"Did Osiris knock you up that much that you've already forgotten the difference between a mortal and a god?"

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH! YOU DARE TALK BACK TO ME NOW, EVEN GO AS FAR AS INSULT AND DISRESPECT ME? BECAUSE OF WHAT, OSIRIS? IF YOU DESPISE HIS EXISTENCE AS MUCH, KINDLY INFORM THEE AND I'LL HAVE YOU DEPART AT ONCE. THEREFORE, YOU SHAN'T HAVE TO LAY YOUR EYES ON HIM EVER AGAIN!"

Eris didn't seem to have budged due to this, as she feared her the slightest. However, knowing Gaia, she has always had a knack for punishment...
