Chapter 9 - Side Story I Chapter II: The Maiden Of Nature

The newly appointed apostle of the Goddess Of Nature, Freia, was currently heading back home. But.... she forgot something?

"Oh, don't be so worried, dear. Pray to Krodoa. Ask for it's assistance."

"I- I see! Well then. Krodoa, please grant me Mana Grasses!"

Freia knelt down, and a few seconds later, various plants began to sprout around her. Mana Grasses, in particular, abundantly grew wherever she moved.

Krodoa seemed pleased. Allowing her to get as much as she needed, Freia began to pick various other plants along with the Mana Grasses. Even seeds were plentiful, as Freia could spot them growing in the ground quickly into saplings in just a fraction of time.

Reminding herself not to take too much as instructed by Gaia, Freia soon stopped picking and gave thanks to Krodoa, and went on her way. The spontaneous growth of plants soon stopped, no rather, slowed down a bit, as they were still growing in half the time they usually did.

Bringing nature's bounty along with her, she soon reached the high rising trees.

"Oh, the outcast is back. Where's our Mana Grasses?" The blonde headed elf was the first to speak.

Freia didn't respond. Instead, she stared at him straight in the face, no expression whatsoever. She had a blank and emotionless look as she continued to stare at him.

"Hey.... that's creepy. Where's our Mana Grasses!" The female elf from earlier said.

Freia stared at her in turn, then at all the others. A few seconds later, all the elves were surprised. All the vines from the trees had suddenly gripped their whole bodies, easily lifting them. Freia shook each one of them up and down, but was particularly more harsh on the blonde. Letting go of the necklace, it began to fall off his hand and towards the forest floor.

Just before it fell onto the mass of leaves, something swooped down and grabbed it. A ear piercing screech found it's way around the forest.

Then, it began to ascend high into the air, until it stopped and began to descend back down quickly. Spreading it's huge wings, it began to slow down it's descent and carefully plopped itself on Freia's shoulder. It was an eagle. And in it's claw, was the neckclace.

Freia, surprised by this, began to pet the eagle. It seemed like it really liked the pets, as it eased itself closer with each stroke towards Freia's caressing hand.

Then it flew away, as quickly as it came. Freia, in her mind, knew that it was Krodoa's doing, and gave thanks to it.

"Goodbye." Was the only thing Freia said as she left the elves hanging, and made her exit, guided by the various trees suddenly coming to life like a human, and stretched their branches pointing a certain way. Freia followed their guidance, leaving the elves with their mouths open, still having trouble comprehending what happened, while of course, still hanging upside down.

Carrying nothing on her personage but her necklace on her neck, Freia relied wholely on Krodoa. When she was hungry, she would pray to it for food, and would always find a boar or a river hosting various fish swimming around.  Doing the same when she was tired, she sometimes found a nearby cave, or was given materials by the trees themselves, handing various small sticks and wood, using their branches. Weird isn't it? Wood handing wood?

On Freia's first day, she covered a good distance from the high rising trees. The forest she wss currently in was Andrius' Garden, or whatever the tribespeople called it. The tall trees were believed to be seeds that fell from Yggdrasil, hence the reason they grew bigger than normal trees would in a short span of time.

She was also lead sometimes by the bald eagle from earlier, which she later named Argos. (Sound similar? Yup named after Argonsville, although she doesn't know that. She just picked it randomly). Argos would occasionally send high pitched screeches that guided her through the thick forest.

All of the animals she also encountered never fought back. Although she slew many of them for food, none of them whatsoever fought back, and just accepted their fates.

On the second day, Gaia told Freia that she would be able to leave the forest by the next day at least. As she walked on the forest floor, many species of animals followed after her. Squirrels, bugs, deer, and even some bears. They would occasionally follow her for a set amount of time before going back to their homes.

On the third day, Freia had finally escaped the forest. Realising that there were still many animals behind her, she began to pet each one of them as a sign of thanks for their companionship.

One bird in particular, was Argos. Even as she finished petting her, she didn't leave but instead just sat there.

"Do you want to come along too? What about your children?"

The bald eagle released a moderately loud screech, as a signal of approval. Instead it perched it's huge body on Freia's hand, sort of when bird trainers reach their hands out and the birds stay there.

"Okay! Then let's go. Can you scout ahead for me, Argos?"

A cry of approval was heard, and the eagle began to fly into the sky.

Now that Freia was in a large, open grassland, she was guided by the occasional directional point of the grass and by Argos' cries.

Knowing that her journey would last long, she decided to set her sights on Ganham, Hudra's biggest commercial port city. Located at the south west edge of Hudra, it is nestled along the Gulf of Ganham, and is directly connected to the Morgen Trade Route, which connects the two supercontinents of Gaia and Hudra, and is prominently used for trade between the two.

Hoping to hop in one of the boats from Gaia as a stowaway, Freia began to conjure a plan to reach it if the first one went awry.
