Chapter 58 - Ryuu's chunin exams!

It had been a year since training in Mt Myoboku with Jiraiya-sensei and Fukasaku; I had already mastered sage mode, but just a few weeks after I mastered sage mode, I started working on gathering nature energy while moving; it was difficult, but I kept on working harder and after nearly a year I mastered it too, this journey to Mt Myoboku was nice but its time I went back.

"Ryuu-chan, you're leaving already?" I nodded as I ate the food made by Ma.

If you forget that you're eating loads of bugs it doesn't have an unpleasant taste, that and I ran out of ramen, next time I won't make that mistake.

"I'm going to miss your food a lot, ma."

She smiled.

"Really?" I nodded.

"Then I'd better make you a feast before you leave."

She said before making some more food.

After eating I went to look for Jiraiya-sensei, he also trained a lot and improved his sage mode.

"Jiraiya-sensei! Are you ready to go home?" He nodded.

"Of course I am, I can't wait to see all those pretty ladies, and I bet Tsunade's chest has grown as well, I bet she misses me too." Ryuu slapped himself.

"Whack!" Fukasaku came out of nowhere and smacked him in his face with a stick.

"I heard both of you are leaving today, I came here to say goodbye and wish you well, both of you have been excellent students, especially you Ryuu."

Ryuu shyly smiled as he scratched his head.

"What about me?!" Jiraiya asked before getting smacked again.

"Understood." He said while holding his head.

"Bunta, the next time we meet, I'll want my rematch!" Ryuu said.

"No way, I'll have to be crazy to fight you again!" Ryuu laughed as he recalled how he humiliated Gamabunta with his new jutsu.

"Ryuu, let me have a word with you alone." I nodded, Jiraiya and Gamabunta left.

"Is something wrong?" He shook his head.

"I just wanted to inform you, after teaching you for a year I'll tell you right now that I've seen no one with Nature energy as potent as yours, it puts other sages to shame, when you use your jutsu you will have to hold back a little because of your natural energy, it increases your abilities incredibly and if you want to prevent accidents from happening, keep that in mind."

I nodded.

After saying goodbye, I teleported back to Konoha with Jiraiya-sensei; I got a cloak from the toads to show that I'm a perfect sage.

When we got back to Konoha, Jiraiya-sensei left, and I went back home.

"I'm Home!" Ryuu said as he entered his house.

"It's so silent, where is everybody?"

He asked himself.

After putting everything back, he went to look for Kakashi.

Luckily, I found him training with Might Guy; they were sparing in Taijutsu, both of them had improved.

I watched them fighting, soon they finished fighting and Kakashi won.

"My rival Kakashi, you have bested me this time and I will uphold my promise and walk 200 laps on my hands around the village!"

Kakashi slapped his forehead.

"Guy, you don't have to do all that."

Ryuu teleported to where Kakashi was.

"Ryuu? You're back!" He excitedly said.

"It's been a long time, hasn't it?" He nodded.

"The last time I saw you was when you left to train with Jiraiya-sama." I nodded.

"I finally became a sage."

Ryuu said.

"That's amazing, I've been training hard as well," Kakashi said.

"Yeah, I watched you fighting with Guy, you're both becoming stronger." He nodded.

"Of course, we have to be ready for the upcoming chunin exams."

Ryuu's eyes widened.

"It's already happening?!" He nodded.

"Can I still sign up?" Kakashi shrugged.

I teleported to the Hokage's office.

"Knock knock knock"

"Come in!"

Ryuu entered the Hokage's office.

"Ah, Ryuu, long time no see." He nodded.

"Yeah, it's been long since I last saw you, old man." He nodded.

"Jiraiya told me how you mastered sage mode even further than him, is that true?"

I nodded.

"Yeah, I mastered sage mode, and I came across a prophecy written about me just like Jiraiya-sensei did."

He smiled and nodded.

"How wonderful, although I can already tell that you're not here to catch up, and I can guess why." I nodded.

"You want to take part in the chunin exams, right?" I nodded.

"Well, it's about time you join a team, right?" Ryuu nodded.

"When I was younger, I was in a team of four people: Danzo, Koharu, Homura, and me, you'll join team Minato since we can't delay you anymore.

It consists of your old friends from the academy, Obito Uchiha, Rin Nohara, and Kakashi Hatake, it's already a full team but I can't have you wait any longer.

Unfortunately, this will mean you'll have to drop off of them from the team and this is not my decision to make, it's the team leader's decision on who will do the chunin exams this year."

Ryuu nodded excitedly.

"Ryuu, not to add any pressure or anything but id like to inform you that many villagers have wanted to see you, to the young kids you're already a hero."

"I am?" He asked.

He nodded his head.

"After you left I disbanded the root, and announced how your father saved their lives by risking his own to pursue Kumo shinobi, his prestige was slowly coming back, I told the Villagers about the heroic deed they looked at you as a hero but felt ashamed that they mistreated Sakumo without knowing the full story."

Ryuu smiled, thinking of how much better Sakumo must be feeling.

"Well, thanks old man, I have to go train now, see ya later." He waved off the Hokage as he teleported back to Kakashi.

"Kakashi, I'm going to join the chunin exam!" He said excitedly.

They were both excited, and they went to have some Ramen,

"While I was in Mt Myoboku I ran out of ramen and food early because I thought I would be gone for a short time but now that I'm back I can finally have some Ramen." He said as he made his order.

"Thank you for the food!" Ryuu ate up a lot of the Ramen, he was on his 10th bowl while Kakashi was on his 3rd.

"How do you eat so much?" He asked, his belly was full.

"Well, I ate bugs for a couple of months, so this is a major upgrade for me.

Ryuu said as he slurped the last bowl of ramen.

Kakashi almost hurled everything he ate, just thinking about eating bugs.

"Wow, I'm stuffed, let's go back home."

He said as he grabbed his stomach.

We left and walked back home, I could've simply teleported us but I missed the village and I wanted to see as much as I could, plus I could feel someone tailing us.

"So it's true! You're back!" Obito said as he jumped from the bushes and hugged Ryuu.

"Good to see you too, but please let me go." He said as he dropped him.

"Where have you been all this time? Wait a minute, before you answer my question, look at this!" He pointed at his forehead protector.

"That reminds me, we're now in the same team, and we'll be doing the chunin exams together."

Both Kakashi and Obito stopped walking.

"Really?!" they both asked.

I nodded with a smile.

They were both excited to share a team.

"Wait, what about rin?" Obito asked

Ryuu scratched his head, "Hokage-sama said that tomorrow Big brother will decide who gets to take part in the chunin exams but he also said, it's fine that we now have a team of four."

They both nodded and didn't ask more questions, on the way home he told Obito and Kakashi stories of training in Mt Myoboku.

"Wow, that sounds amazing, you're so lucky you get to go on such great adventures," Obito said.

Ryuu smiled, "I guess I am."

"Tomorrow morning I'm going to show you how outstanding I've become during training with Minato-sensei!" Obito excitedly said.

Kakashi rolled his eyes and murmured, "You wish."

A tick grew on Obito's head as he folded his fist.

"What did you say, stupid Kakashi?!"

He yelled.

"Whatever." He responded as he pocketed and walked away.

"Sigh" I guess some things never change."

Ryuu said as he slapped his face.

"Kakashi don't underestimate Obito, he only lacks the discipline but once he gets that I'm sure he's talented too, and Obito don't get so easily provoked you'll make irrational decisions and in this case, you'll start a fight you can't win."

Both Kakashi and Obito's heads dropped.

"Hmph." Obito chuckled.

"What are you laughing at?!" Kakashi asked.

"Nothing, it's just… even though he's younger than you and I, even if it's just by months, Ryuu's kinda like an older brother to us both."

Kakashi scratched his head

"Yeah, I guess you're right."

"Jeez, you're making me feel old now."

They both laughed at him.

"Well, at least they're not fighting again." He said to himself.

Once we reached home, I dropped Kakashi off because I wanted to see my uncle.

"Well, Kakashi, it's time for you to go, I'll be back later, I want to see my uncle."

He nodded and left.

"You know, I keep on forgetting that your uncle is the clan head." I nodded.

"Well, it is kind of a secret, so it's easy to forget," Ryuu said.

"Well, Obito, great catch up with you I have to go see him now."

"Wait Ryuu!"

Ryuu looked back.

"Are you still going to train me?" I nodded.

"As long as I don't catch you sleeping."

He smiled and nodded.

I went to Fugaku's home.

"Knock knock knock"

He opened the door; he had a grim look but as soon as he saw it was me he smiled.

"Ryuu! Come in." When I entered I found things were different, he had a picture of him and Mikoto together.

"I missed your wedding?" He nodded.

"It's ok though, Sakumo told me that you were out of the village with Jiraiya-sama so it's not your fault."

Ryuu sadly nodded.

"Anyway, I just came here to say hi that's all."

"Well, it's nice to see you again too, don't be a stranger, you're welcome here anytime."

Just as Ryuu was leaving, he felt someone spying on him.

"He's probably just a kid with that amount of chakra." He said to himself.

"You know if you're going to spy on me at least be good at it, come out, I've already found you."

The person spying on him left the shadows and revealed himself.

"Sorry, I just wanted to meet you."

Ryuu widened his eyes as he saw who it was.

"I'm Shisui, it's an honor to meet you, Ryuu-sama."

He said as he bowed respectfully.

Geez, the kid is making me look like a Kage here.

"Please, no need for you to bow, or call me that, just call me Ryuu."

He got up.

"Why were you following me?"

He scratched his head and started sweating.

"I heard you were back in the village and I wanted to meet you, I waited for you to come near Fugaku-dono's home so I could meet you, he told me he knew you." He shyly said.

"Well, great to meet you too, I have to go, I'm sure your parents are worried about you, so you should go back too." He nodded.

"Before you go, I want to know, is it true what they say about you?"

Ryuu was confused.

"What do they say about me?" He asked.

"Can you turn into a fire demon?"

Ryuu scratched his head.

"Well, I wouldn't call it Turning into a demon." Ryuu held out his hand and controlled the flames onto his wrist, Shisui was staring in awe his eyes widened and his jaw dropped.

"That's cool." Ryuu smiled.

"Usually I can make my whole body like this, but I can't do it right now because I'll probably wake people up." He nodded.

"Here, it won't hurt you, I promise."

He hesitantly nodded, and I held his hand and transferred Phoenix Flame on him, the green flames climbed onto his whole body.

He looked at himself and was still shocked.

"Well, I have to go now, I'll see you another day." I drained the flames off of him and teleported back home.

"I have two weeks until the chunin exams, I'll try to learn as much Jutsu as I can."

Ryuu spent the entire night studying Jutsu from his book.
