"Fire!!" David ordered the moment the monster entered their circle.
"Labi Aperitia!" Kyra spelled stumbling, and Kevin was pulled in her direction. He slid in her direction out of the defense circle, while she fell down, losing all her energy.
Kevin sighed out loud, almost crying as he was almost saved from becoming a feast. He sat up, holding his unpaced heart, and looked at the creature.
It groaned, feeling all those weapons tearing its skin, and that somehow relieved his pain, at least a bit of his anger.
"Dammit, someone fire those shackles!!" David grumbled taking other rounds of 'Setie Rocles'. The creature was just getting harder to weaken, it possessed some unreal powers that were rapidly healing its body. Every time they shot, it would just scream and then heal as if hit by a stick maybe.
"Dude, this isn't just a normal Wendigo!!" His mates panicked just like him. They were using all their strength but were nothing but a bunch of rats fighting against a tiger! It was so hard that they just wanted to leave everything and run away.
"Guys, we are falling short of weapons!!" Someone cried, and everyone started feeling chills down their spine! The grim reaper summoned by Kyra would have too many souls fetch tonight, and that included their whole pack!!
"Why aren't the shackles working on it?" Another cry came as that group of 10 members surrounded the creature. And only then did they realize that the creature was tactfully escaping the shackles! A few were trying to shoot those spell-cloned shackles, 'Sediotons', what Kyra called them weren't binding to either its arms or its skinny legs.
"Kev, Kyra!!!" Anna shouted, shooting at the creature. It was angry, as well as hell hungry and they needed to finish their final stage, very soon!
Kevin who was still trying to recover from his trance heard her words and he immediately looked for Kyra. And as he turned around, he saw her crumbled on the ground. Opening a portal would have cost half of Kyra's energy and he was at least well aware of that fact
Straining himself, he got up and rushed to her side. And helping her sit up, he patted her cheeks as the poor soul was barely managing to open her eyes.
"Are you alright?" Was the first thing she asked, slowly fighting back her weakness.
"I am. And you?" Kevin asked, helping her stand up. Others needed her to hurry her job, but he wanted for her to recover first. At least, manage to stand on her own foot now that she was stumbling even with his support.
"I will once I destroy this bastard!!" Kyra cursed, glaring towards the defense circle, specifically at the monster.
"Let me get you water first!" Kevin mumbled, supporting her shoulders, and at her nod, he rushed towards his car.
Holding her knees, Kyra looked at the scene in front of her. They were falling short of weapons, and soon the wolves hiding in the forest would attack it. But, will they survive now that this wicked creature looked even to the strongest weapons of the black market.
She didn't wish to see anyone disabled at the end of their mission, worse dead and that spirited her with a whole new kind of energy. Taking a few deep breaths, she stood on her feet, and looking at the monster, she walked to the Vishachati Chakra.
She needed to hurry, though her body still needed time to recover. To at least get a good grasp of her inner energy.
Walking inside the chakra, she sat inside the big circle. She looked at her teammates struggling, then at the Wendigo right opposite to her.
"At least, drink the water!!" Kevin who had rushed seeing her enter the Chakra, mumbled but Kyra shook her head.
"How much time do you need?" He asked after a long sigh, as Kyra looked too determined to kill herself today, at least end in Dr. James' medical wards!
"10 minutes at max!" Kyra mumbled, adjusting the skull in front of her. Turning towards him, she warned, "And until then, don't even think of going near them! You are still the girl in the culprit's eyes!"
"Come on! I unlike you care about my life!" Kevin mumbled drinking the water himself. He was hell tired already, his body barely surviving that cold weather and he had no idea of putting himself at risk. He had already done his job, partly successful, and didn't wish to entertain more threats for himself.
Kyra sarcastically stuck out her tongue, making a weird face at his comment. She had no interest in fighting with him now, not even for fun!
Taking a deep breath, she took out the knife and opening her left palm, scrapped a weird chant on it, blood gushed out while the torturous pain almost blacked her out.
"Ahh! Careful!" Kevin commented, standing out of her Chakra as she continued craving something on her palm. His eyes then fell on the culprit, and also the wolves that had attacked it from the forest.
He squinted his eyes as the monster threw out one of the wolves, just with a slap. They would need a medic team here, he thought as he watched those heroes fight as he stood there helplessly.
Kyra finished enchanting a spell on her palm, she placed her hand over the skull, her blood dripping it in red as she mumbled something in Latin.
Soon the whole Chakra started glowing, golden lines rising up her Chakra and so from her palm. Placing aside her knife, she poured other ingredients. Rat's blood, eagle's feather, and owl's flesh in the right order over the skull.
The skull which was antique till now suddenly started glowing just like the circle. Its mouth suddenly opened, making Kevin almost take a step back in shock.
'Ohh, even the skull can talk!' He thought as the skull started clattering its teeth, its upper part glowing with some spell as all the ingredients went inside it, making it flat white.
"Ahh, finally!! We did it!!" He heard loud cheers as Kyra continued doing something scary. He looked at the defense circle and saw Wendigo laying low on the ground. It was on its knees, groaning, screaming as the shackles not just around its neck, but also around its arms and legs started burning its skin.
And in front of it, stood Anna and David as the wolves squatted down on their knee and showed their respect to them. It looked like they were the legends to trap it, and he couldn't help but sigh in relief. At least, Kyra would be less worried now. Was the thought that rushed his mind as he looked at Kyra, busy doing something weirdly scary in that burning circle.
"You sure, you won't die in there?" He asked, loudly and only earned a hard glare. He raised his arms in defeat, as Kyra looked at him, those slits in her eyes freaking the shit out of him.
They were purple, lined straight in her orbs, and he couldn't deny they were beautiful, but her deathly stare forced him to shut up. She wanted him to shoo away, but he still dared to stand nearby her, worried she might fall anytime as her skin got paler inside that Chakra.
Kyra continued her ritual, mumbling a whole page of spells maybe as others hurried in her direction. Some stood beside Kevin, while some were near the Wendigo, they couldn't just let it bark at them. Would they?
After a whole 10 minutes, finally, the bones that were in other circles, covering Kyra started moving, shaking as she continued amusing them with her only-magic aura. She clasped her palms, tightly and placed them before her chest. She mumbled something different, something in Latin, and only then did Anna realize what the poor girl was doing for them.
Kyra was skipping the steps, hurrying the ritual by using stronger restricted spells, which was not only curbing her powers but also pushing her on the Magic Elites plate. They would be having too many reasons to banish Kyra from the Magic world, and she couldn't help but tear at that thought.
The bones that needed to mend themselves, slowly one by one, started rising up in the air and because of her strong spells, they were forced to join fast, join together as one whole skeleton.
"Woah Woah, look at that!" A few gasped, mesmerized seeing that skeleton that hung in the air. So all the bones connected and became a whole new skeleton, it wasn't something they saw witches and wizards do often in their world.
Kyra opened her eyes, and mumbling something she forced up the skeleton to fly, move so swiftly that in just a second, it vanished in the dark clouds, like a cracker lit on the new year's eve. And just like the cracker, with Kyra's some loud enchantment, it blew, shattered completely up in the afterlife realm, in the other world they couldn't see and just look at the skies covering it.
"Within the limits of my powers, with the will of sacrificing anything in return, I, Kyra Yang, magistrate level witch of the New Manston Magic Community, summon a grim reaper, to heed to my call and rescue the one need! I repeat, in return, I shall sacrifice anything under my reach, anything to please you and bestow your powers on us!" She made the contract, speaking everything in Latin and only Anna understood her words. She was committing suicide in her opinion!
A few minutes passed by, and nothing but the wind swayed in response to her demands. And, as everyone wondered if they could actually see a grim reaper today, even before their death, stood curious and disappointed as no one showed up.
"Did you fail?" Kevin couldn't help but ask, as nothing moved around them. And as Kyra, glared at him, tears rolling down without specific reason, he sighed out loud.
It did look like those hell workers were not interested in her, nor her words! And that thought only made him look at the culprit, that was almost lured to sleep now.
What's the use if the Grim Reaper arrives after the soul gets dissipated? He thought again, looking at his watch that was now ticking fast. Just 20 more minutes before they could say goodbye to the girl, without being of any use!
