Chapter 31 - Chapter 31 - The Stalker

Serena Mars, the raven-haired fair-skinned petite girl, the person who admired Zefer, the same girl who had let Zefer sleep on her lap, was currently returning to the library. She was a bashful, cherry girl, love-struck in all forms as she thought of Zefer, but her demeanor changed when she entered the library.

Her once bashful expression changed into something akin to a look of normalcy, something someone would find on an everyday citizen. She decided to organize the books, put away any left out, and even helped students who asked for recommendations. She helped even the teachers that came to request materials.

The library was where she spent most of her time, simply because that was her job. She only attended essential classes, but she was here when she wasn't in class. Why didn't she have to attend all her classes? Why was she an assistant for the librarian? Well, she was special.

Serena was the top-scoring student out of the entire student body. The pin on the collar of her uniform indicated she was a first-year; however, her scores showed she far exceeded the academy's curriculum.

Serena was always offered scholarships, approached by many people, even those associated with the Valintine Estate; however, she always declined the offers no matter how prestigious they were. The higher-ups and the Principal even tried to get her to move up to a higher grade level. They even asked her if she wanted to attend a university fit for someone of her intelligence; however, she declined them.

It came to the point where Principal Gill decided to ask why she refused all offers and wanted to stay as a first-year. Serena's answer was, "There is someone here that I am waiting on. Someone who will guide my path, take me with them, and show me the way. Until that day, I will remain here."

Serena's words confused Principal Gill, baffled him even; however, he could do nothing if the girl wanted to stay. So, he decided to make use of her. He let her stay since she raised the average and boosted their overall score across the board. In return, he would offer her a job and tell her the job details. As long as she maintained that high average, he didn't care what she did.

The question now was, why was she so infatuated with Zefer? It was pretty clear that the person she was waiting on was Zefer. But why? What did she see in him that others did not. Only she knew the answer to this question.

"Thanks for your hard work, Serena, you can head home now." A friendly but almost quiet voice spoke up, which caused Serena to look from the desk before her towards the man. "Thank you as always, Mr. Howard." Serena said with a smile.

"No. No. Thank you. You always organize the files, keep tabs on the records, and still have time to help the staff and students. You've been such a great help. I can't thank you enough." Mr. Howard said.

Serena just smiled, "It's not problem. I'll see you tommorrow." Serena said with a wave as she left the library. "Have a good day, and get home safely." Mr. Howard called back to Serena as she left before picking up where Serena left on with the work.

"I wonder what Zeffy is doing..." Serena glanced at the digital clock on the wall nearby, which read 6:00 P.M. "Oh well, I'll see him tomorrow." Serena said as she shrugged it off and continued outside of the school. As she got to the gate, she did a little hop, and as she did, the soles of her feet were covered in ice, forming that of skates.

Serena never walked to or from school, nor did she take any taxis or busses. She always used her ice to create skates to skate to and from school. No one minded it since the path from her ice skates always melted as she left the area. It was like the trail was always created for her to use at that moment and never persisted past that moment.

So, she skated her way home, but as she did, she spotted Zefer leaving the grocery with Ruth, Simon, and some other guys. Instead of peaking around the corner to most likely get caught, she created a pair of ice wings on her back and kicked off the ground to take the skies.

A few seconds later, she landed on the roof of a building. The ice wings melted instantly and slid off her body as if she was wearing some kind of waterproof clothing or something. She made her way over to the ledge only to squat down and watch the events unfold.

"Oh? This should be interesting. I wonder if he'll kill anyone today." Serena thought as she watched Zefer with fascination like none other. Just seeing how calm and composed he was in the situation caused her heart to flutter.

Then he blocked Simon and counterattacked. It was so fast, fluid, and beautiful, yet she caught all of it. She read every inch of Zefer's movement, almost as if she were watching the scene in slow-motion or something.

Things seemed to escalate, and she was ready to watch Zefer beat some ass, but then she saw Maven Sears. The girl leaped into the alley but did not notice her. It was because Maven never came from the roof but rather just jumped over the group, gaining enough height to make it look like she came from the skies when that wasn't the case.

From here on out, things got boring. "Zefer doesn't need saving, bitch. If anything, you are interrupting his work, messing with his flow. Ugh, this stupid righteous no good..." Serena grumbled as she glared at Maven, saying many unsavory things about her for getting in Zefer's way.

Then something happened, something she did not expect. She could feel malicious intent, a killer's intent. She could never mistake this intent, for she had felt this many times in her life. Her attention locked on Zefer, disregarding her annoyance with Maven as her heart fluttered even more.

"Do it, Zefer. Kill them. Don't worry about the bodies. I'll break them into tiny pieces and hide them for you." Serena couldn't help but lean over the ledge to get as close as possible to Zefer. She nearly fell off the shelf, but when she heard another voice, that voice ripped her attention away from Zefer.

She pushed up to keep herself from falling as she eyed Alex. "Oh? It's the Champion's Son." Serena said to herself as she watched the events unfold. She wondered why Alex was here, but when she found out, her expression became sour.

"Why are all of you getting in his way... Why now? He is so close to realizing his potential. I can feel the beast inside of him, wanting to come out... So stay out of his way..." Serena grumbled, she almost had the urge to enter the fray herself, but she didn't. Now wasn't the time, soon, but not now.

Serena watched the rest of the events play out, a bit annoyed that Zefer didn't just kill all of them; however, she realized why he didn't do it. Serena was factoring herself into the equation, but it only made sense for Zefer not to kill anyone when she pulled herself out of it. If he did, things wouldn't look good for him. It was a smart move, but perhaps a bit overcautious.

"But, that's why I love you. That's why I choose you, and that's why no one else can have you. You are mine, my Destructive Prince." Serena said to herself. Once everyone was gone, she couldn't help but see Zefer as cool. He handled everything smoothly, and if he did kill anyone, she would have hidden the evidence anyways.

Nevertheless, she knew everything would come with time. She just needed to wait. "Just a bit longer." Serena said as she pushed herself onto her feet. She took a moment to admire the view of the city. The people were having a lovely and wonderful time even during this wintery season.

"It's almost time for Christmas... Perhaps I should get Zeffy a present." Serena said with a giggle as she approached the ledge of the roof. "One that will make his heart flutter..." She continued as her demeanor shifted from an innocent and timid girl to one that fits a psychotic girl. A grin curved across her face, ".... I'll replace Karin. After all, only I am allowed to stand by his side. Isn't that right, mother." Serena finished as she looked past the horizon off into the distance.

The sun slowly began to set, and as it did, Serena's shadow morphed for a second, changing shape into a voluptuous woman with a spaded tail and a pair of horns. "Oops. Getting carried away." Serena said since she noticed a change in her mana. As she did, she adjusted it, and the shadow returned to normal before she created ice wings and took to the skies, heading home for the day.
