Zefer redid his shopping, gathered everything he needed, and checked out. Since he didn't have a vehicle of any kind and didn't want to carry the bags, he went back into the alley and stored the backs into his inventory. Afterward, he went home, passing by the same gate as before, but unlike yesterday the guards stopped him this time.
"Hold up, kid. You were here yesterday. Why do you keep coming here?" The guard asked as he blocked Zefer's path. A few other guards came out and stood by just in case anything escalated.
Zefer looked at the guard before sighing and shaking his head, "Are you really getting in my way? Do you want to end up like the others? What does it matter if I come and go? Tell me, Luke Gibbson." Zefer said as he glared at the guard in front of him.
The guard seemed to shutter when Zefer called his name. He didn't expect this boy, this person he knew nothing of even to know his full name. It wasn't like he was wearing a nameplate or anything since the LCB stored all necessary information onto it.
"R-Right, but I just need to make sure you aren't from the Lower District," Luke responded as he placed a hand on his stun baton, prepared to draw it if anything escalated.
Zefer looked at Luke's hand then towards the other guards, noting that they were also doing the same thing. Afterward, he looked back at Luke shook his head once again, "I wouldn't do that if I were you, that is, if you value your lives. We all know why I am here, and if you want to interrupt that, then surely, you believe your security far outweighs my connections, Luke Gibbson." Zefer remarked coldly.
Luke gulped deeply, looking at Zefer, glancing from bottom to top, gauging his strength. Everything told him that the boy before him wasn't someone from the Lower District, but that was because he was afraid, afraid that his actions might get him killed.
From what the boy was saying, it was like he knew his way around the city and knew how to handle things. If this boy was someone from the Upper District, and he was interfering, his life was as good as gone.
"R-right... I just needed to make sure. I won't stop you ever again, so please, continue onward." Luke finally said as he stepped out of Zefer's path to let him go. The rest of the guards released a breath of relief since nothing had happened.
"Make sure you let the others know. If this ever happens again, it will be your head on my desk, Luke Gibbson." Zefer said, trying to portray someone from the Upper District. His mastery with facades and fake impressions seemed to do him good since Luke and the remaining guards believed he was from the Upper District.
Perhaps, if they had checked him, they would realize his ruse; however, that did not happen. All because of Zefer's superb acting skills. With that, Zefer knew he secured his route without question and continued towards his home unbothered.
"Nice work there, I honestly thought you were going to kill them." Ina said.
"If I did, I would be drawing attention to myself. It is still too soon. I don't even have a proper plan yet." Zefer remarked internally, answering Ina.
"Didn't look like you cared back in the alley." Ina responded with a chuckle.
"Yeah... I let myself go. Something overcame my judgement, telling me to slaughter everyone there..." Zefer responded, but Ina did not respond. She already knew what Zefer was referring to.
It was the wanton lust for destruction, the itch that needed to be scratched by bringing about pure destruction. Because of this, Ina was impressed by Zefer's willpower to hold back his rationality, but it seemed like that itch was starting to surface and become a bit too much to bear.
She debated telling him but figured it probably wasn't for the best. He seemed to be doing a good job keeping it at bay, and truthfully, she wanted to see how long he could last. So, she kept silent as Zefer entered his home and put away his groceries. Afterward, he seemed to remove his shirt and sit down to prepare to cultivate his energy.
The hours went by, but Zefer never unlocked another point. He did finish that part of the quest, though, so his Wisdom increased by one point. "I suppose it won't be that easy." Zefer said. He could feel the energy inside him expanding, but he didn't feel that explosive power like before.
It was now 10 P.M and Zefer was covered in sweat from head to toe. He was exhausted, but he prepared something to eat before hitting the showers after his meal. Once he got out, it was already 11 P.M, but he still had yet to finish the final part of his Daily Quest.
So, he decided to sit down and go over the layout of the City of Falter, bringing it up on his LCB display.
The city was displayed like a slope from bottom to top, a visual representation. There were two massive gates inside the rectangular display and three significant texts: Lower District, Middle District, and Upper District.
The three texts held a thin line connecting them to each District on the holographic display. The Lower District was at the bottom of the slope, many of the buildings looked run down, and in ruins, there weren't any shops, and overall it looked like a garbage deposit, if anything.
The Middle District held all the shops, the Guild Hall, and even the Academy, which if Zefer zoomed into the Middle District, he could see the types of shops and each shop's names, among other things.
Finally, the Upper District mainly was where the wealthy lived. The Univerisity of Val has located here as well as the Police Department. The courthouse and even the United Front Branch Office were here.
The city was far more extensive than most, considering the City of Falter bolstered the best when birthing excellent warriors and Hunters. The population of Falter was 500,000 people, and counting since births was always on the rise, not counting the A.I Robots, of course.
"Wow... such a lovely city." As she sat on Zefer's shoulder and looked over the holographic display, Ina said. The city was indeed lovely, except for the Lower District. "So, how will you go about this, Master?" Ina asked as she side-eyed Zefer.
"I'll have to hit all three Districts at once. If I do them separately, the trial could lead back to me. To do this, I'll need to make contact with the Crimelord of each District." Zefer replied.
"Crimelord?" Ina inquired curiously.
"Yes. Did you think the Police Force and Hunters maintained this peace? No, each District has a Crimelord that supports and runs the underground areas. The United Front knows about this but does nothing considering each Crimelord has influence over the underground." Zefer answered.
"Okay, but you'll be killing them anyways, so why contact them?" Ina inquired.
"I was thinking of using explosives all over the city as a starter. If I cause mayhem, and mass panic, then the Hunters and the Police Force will be scattered. I'll feed them false information, blaming the Crimelords, saying they are going to war against Falter." Zefer replied.
"Okay, but wouldn't that Crimelords figure out what you are doing?" Ina asked.
"Perhaps, but I'll deal with that when the time comes." Zefer replied.
Honestly, Ina was impressed with how Zefer just came up with a plan suddenly out of nowhere. He even had the means to use a scapegoat to allow him to destroy the City of Falter. Sure, his plan could use some work, but overall for a plan, he suddenly came up out of nowhere. It seemed well planned out.
In a sense, this sort of thing frightened her since it showed just how smart Zefer was and how dangerous he could be. "I see. It sounds like a good plan. To bring it to a conclusion, you plan to blow up the city, right?" Ina asked.
"Essentially, yes." Zefer responded as he closed out the layout. He already had the places where he would put the explosives in mind. Since the city was built on a slope, the underground of the entire city could be considered a support system for the city. If he blew up the supports, the whole city would collapse on itself, and an avalanche would follow.
"All that is left is the preparation work. Nothing has changed. I just need to get stronger and faster." Zefer said as he went to lay down on the mattress. He used his arms as pillows while Ina seemed to crawl onto his chest and sit there, looking at his face.
"Do you have a time limit?" Ina inquired, curious if Zefer was giving himself a time limit.
"No. However, I greeting the new year with the destruction of the city, sounds wonderful, don't you think?" Zefer closed his eyes as a smirk curved across his lips.
Ina laid down on his chest and stared at the ceiling, "It sure does. I await your presentation, Zefer Zillian, my master." Ina responded with pride as she closed her eyes and fell asleep on Zefer's chest.
