Seth slowly opened his tired eyes after a long awkward sleep.
Last night he had drunk way too much and ended up passing out in his kitchen.
Yesterday was the party for finishing the final year in university.
Waking up, he could barely remember anything from that night.
He opened his eyes and slowly got up as he had a bad hangover.
'Damn, I really should quit drinking...'
Noticing he was in his kitchen and not some random dumpster he gave a quick nod to himself then drank some water from the sink.
He glanced at the clock on the wall that showed it was already afternoon.
Luckily it was a weekend otherwise he'd get in trouble at work for showing up in the afternoon.
He pulled out the phone in his pocket and was shocked for a second.
'So many notifications?'
Some were from his friends while others were unknown numbers.
A lot of missed calls made him wonder if something bad happened.
He quickly dialled one of them but there was no response.
Then he tried another person but nothing happened as well.
A second later an unknown phone number popped up on his screen.
Quickly answering it he said "Hello?".
Immediately a beep was heard followed by an automated voice message.
He thought it was another scam caller and was about to hang up but something from the automated message caught his attention.
'Civilians? Outbreak? Stay indoors?'
What was this message saying?
Seth immediately had a terrible feeling in his gut.
'It can't be...'
He looked at his phone as the last words were spoken from the tiny speakers.
"...please survive"
Immediate denial.
No way would something from a movie happen in real life over night while he was passed out drunk.
'Hah, no way this message is real'
However, the gut feeling did not go away.
He quickly ran to the T.V and turned it on.
A recording of a military officer played on every channel possible.
Seth crumbled onto the floor as the recording played.
"Dear civilians, a virus outbreak has occurred... please do not panic... help is on the way... I repeat... do not come into contact with the infected...I repeat..."
The T.V shut off by itself after the electricity in his apartment cut off.
Now the only light in the apartment was from the blinds covering the windows and balcony glass door.
Seth felt extreme nausea at this moment.
He gagged then puked onto the floor.
His hands were shaking, and his thoughts were a mess.
'No... I don't want to die!'
This thought continued to run through his mind for a while.
After gasping for air for a minute, he picked himself up and mustered the courage to peek outside the windows.
As he got closer to the window, he could faintly hear shouting and screaming.
His apartment was sound proofed to an extent so he couldn't hear before.
But now... sirens, car alarms, dogs barking.
Most importantly, the sound of people screaming in fear.
Seth's apartment was very high up on the 10th floor of the building.
But this didn't stop him from hearing everything once he got closer to the windows.
He peeked down and saw a scene straight out of a zombie movie.
Blood on the ground, people tearing into other people's flesh.
Cars smashed as they drove into each other.
Looking at this scene, Seth broke down.
He thought his life was over...
Then suddenly a notification sound entered his ears followed by a voice.
"Congratulations for awakening the bloodline: Zombie Bloodline!"
"With this bloodline, you are one with the undead!"
After the mechanical voice spoke, Seth was stunned for a moment.
'What the hell is this? A novel? A game?'
Just as Seth cursed, he felt his body heat up and collapsed on the floor withering in pain.
He quickly blanked out from the unbearable pain.
2 days later.
Seth groaned as he woke up.
His body felt tired and... weird.
Opening his eyes, he immediately noticed changes about himself.
His skin had become paler by many shades, almost white.
But most importantly, his skin was cold to the touch.
He ran to the bathroom quickly after discovering these changes but was greeted by more changes.
His short hair was now white, and his teeth were very sharp.
His eyes were dark red with unusual pupils.
His fingernails were replaced by sharp bones sticking out each finger.
For now, these were the changes he could notice.
But the most important change was his emotions.
Though he still felt surprised by these changes, he felt calm the next second.
In fact, everything that happened prior to 2 days ago did not shock him or cause him to be emotional.
He had accepted the outbreak.
'Huh... I've become a monster'
To be more specific, he now had the Zombie Bloodline, this allowed him to become a zombie.
But he was different from other zombies.
While they had limbs missing and guts hanging out, Seth was in perfect shape.
His memories and thinking were still there.
He hasn't met other zombies yet, but he assumed he was different from these points alone.
A sudden growl came from his stomach, and he decided to eat something from the fridge.
He casually walked to the fridge and pulled out a container of juice, he smelled it and gagged.
It smelt rotten to him, like something had died.
He placed the container back and a smell entered his nose.
It was the raw steaks on a big plate wrapped in glad wrap.
It somehow smelled like heaven to him despite being raw meat.
Then it dawned on him.
'Oh, I'm a zombie now...'
He removed the film then lifted a large steak with his fingers and surprisingly fitted the whole 450grams of steak in his mouth with ease.
He even chewed it with ease.
'Holy shit! This is good stuff!'
Seth praised the raw steaks with a satisfied face.
Usually he would cook the steaks, but the smell coming from the raw steaks was too tempting.
He quickly ate the last two pieces of raw steaks.
The smell coming from everything else that wasn't meat smelt rotten to him.
He closed the fridge door and glanced at the clock on the wall.
4am in the morning.
'Wait, I can see in the dark?'
He just realized there was no light, but he could see in the dark just fine.
As he was wondering what other changes he had, the front door burst open.
*BANG* *GROAN*
A large round-bellied zombie had somehow knocked his door down.
It quickly entered the apartment as two other zombies followed behind him.
They looked like regular zombies out of a movie.
Rotting flesh with no thoughts other than a desire to eat flesh.
Seth stood next to the fridge and watched them carefully.
He wanted to see if these zombies would attack him or not.
Somehow, he was calm and not afraid they could harm him.
When these zombies rushed in and spotted Seth.
They snarled and simply ran around the apartment before rushing back out.
They ignored Seth standing there but acknowledged he was there by snarling at him.
As they were rushing back out the apartment, Seth had a bold idea.
