I looked at the phone with a frown on my face. I really don't understand the way men think. A few days did not hear from me, let alone a call, he don't even send a message. Not a single chat from Blake for me. Bravo!
Even Clara did the same. What exactly did I do wrong to make her act like this?
[Clara, are you mad? Please don't be like this, I need you.] I sent the chat to Clara. She read it, but I waited a few minutes, there is no sign that she would reply. I sighed.
After dialing Blake's number for a while, I hope this time it's not answered by voicemail but Blake.
'Hey, Blake's here—'
Shit!
"ARRRGH!" I groaned, annoyed. If Blake were in front of me right now I'd be sure to throw a raw booge in his face. How dare he turn my life upside down and stir up my feelings like this. Very heartless!
The sound of heels against the marble floor could be heard approaching.
Someone came into the room, who else but Doctor Karl. I was able to recognize the distinctive tapping sound from him, as well as the smell of perfume wafting from a distance. Oh, his mood has improved. He no longer looked awkward. It can be read from the smile that he put on from the moment he entered my room.
"I could hear screams coming from this room." He sat beside me.
"Don't tease me, Doc. I'm not kidding," I hissed. He didn't seem afraid of my reaction, instead smiling showing the dimples on his cheeks.
"I know that. That's why I came here. Is there anything I can do to improve your mood?" he asked seriously. I looked into the man's eyes. What else is this, Ryan? What? If you keep acting like this you're going to make me really fall in love with you.
No, no! I shook my head quickly. There's no way I'd fall in love with Doctor Karl. Not!
Even though he's a nice guy, please Jenna! He is a man who has helped and been kind to you in recent times. There's no way you'd marry the man who saved your life.
I sighed, looking down to let the man see my desperation. Why hide again, he already knew, though. "I don't know. I just feel like I'm being played."
"By men?" the man asked curiously. I groaned again.
"Is that embarrassing?" I cupped my hands over my face. The man glanced at his watch. Then got up to the nightstand and took the tray of food that I had not touched.
"Do you feel that this all embarrassing you?" He asked again. Then sat on the side of the bed, opened the plastic wrap that wrapped each food container.
There was rib eye soup, a bagel slice, a vegetable salad and a few pieces of fruit. Don't forget a glass of milk to complete a healthy midday breakfast. The food is tantalizing, actually, but unfortunately my appetite has been lost since a long time ago.
Doctor Karl scooped the food out of the container. "Let's eat first, because you have to take medicine and supplements."
I looked at him doubtfully. He grabbed the spoon and raised it right in front of my face, gesturing for me to open my mouth. I haven't done what he's asked me to, but instead stare at the gray-eyed man who's been treating me so special recently.
"Come on, Jenna!"
All right, I'll eat. What's more, he fed it, maybe it will increase my appetite.
He feeds the food patiently. No one had ever done anything like this before. My parents were the exception, of course. However, this man ... he really made me ... ah, never mind. Don't think too much about love or anything. I have to remember that i just feeling really heartbroken for the second time with Blake. So it would be nice if i'm not thinking about such things for a while.
"By the way, when can I go home and start school again?" I asked, starting to feel uncomfortable in this place, and longing for home and my soft bed. Here, it's comfortable ... moreover there is Doctor Karl who treats me like a princess, of course I'm happy. However, home is the most comfortable place to be.
"Tomorrow you can go home. On a note, you must obey whatever I suggest."
"What else? I've suffered so much because of all this, and have to face your rules," I muttered. He stopped the movement of the hand that had been scooping the soup. Holds me tight.
"It's for your health, Jenna. And I'm not going to suggest anything weird. Just eat regular and healthy, don't be too tired, get enough rest, and don't forget your meds and supplements."
"Oh ... I think I have to be a vampire at some point," I joked. He shook his head.
"You said yourself that you're not a vampire. Then let's do treatment without turning you into that creature. Transfusion is only an emergency option, as long as you don't experience any worrying deterioration, a supplement from a doctor will suffice."
I just nodded in understanding. Although actually my brain is still cramped and can not be invited to think hard. However, if I need an explanation, there is Doctor Karl who will definitely be happy to enlighten me.

When I open the door for the first time, I looked around the room. It feels empty. Of course, how long have I been out of this place? It feels like years.
Doctor Karl came in with my things and put them in the corner of the room, near the sofa. He follows what I've been doing. He scanning the entire house that might lead to memories of the first time he stepped here, then found me collapsed. He sighed.
"Home sweet home," I monologued, loud enough for the handsome doctor to hear.
"This house feels empty. You have to hire a housekeeper so you have someone to help when you're not feeling well." He walked closer to me who was still standing in the middle of the room.
I turned to him, looking at him with emotion. What feeling? Who knows. Maybe feel thankful for him for being so kind to me these past few days.
"I'm fine, Doc. There's nothing to worry about. If anything happens to me, I'll call you right away," I promised.
This time he didn't answer. Maybe thinking it was just my trick so he wouldn't say anything more about the housekeeper. In fact, I really would.
I opened the fridge, grabbed a bottle of beer and handed it to him. He raised his hand, refusing my beer.
"I don't drink alcohol," he said. "Neither can you."
The man took the two bottles from my hand then put them back in the refrigerator. He opened another door and found a box of juice and milk, took a glass and poured both into different glasses.
"This is what you should drink." He handed me milk while he drank the juice till it empty. "Okay, I'll go back to the clinic. I have a lot to do."
The man was about to step out of the bar area, but our steps met so neither of us made it past each other.
"Oh, okay, you go first." Doctor Karl stood against the wall while I passed him sideways, facing him.
Right in front of him, I stopped. I looked into his eyes, my heart was beating faster. Especially when I see his Adam's apple moving up and down. Is he also nervous like me?
"Jenna?" He called. I snapped out of the naughty reverie that briefly tickled my mind, then with a lingering nervousness, continued walking out of the bar with Doctor Karl trailing behind me.
I headed straight for the door. It would be best if this handsome doctor left right now, otherwise things could happen to what I wanted. I don't want to be considered as a naughty woman who deliberately seduces the doctor who has treated me.
If that were to happen—something more between us, I wanted to happen by itself. Occurs because Doctor Karl also has the same felling. Because he also wants me, not because he is trapped by my attitude and treatment of him.
"Thanks for your concern all this time, Doc," I said, quietly.
"Ryan. Because it's just the two of us."
"Yeah, I'll remember next time. Thank you."
The man nodded. Then stepped out the door and away.
