After a while of starting at the ceiling, looking for answers, I find none. I truly want to be with Cam, but can I make this commitment to him? What if I regret it later? From he told me, a vampire who's been rejected is seen as useless. I can't do that to him. Not when I actually care about him, at least.
In a typical 'speak of the devil' moment, Cam knocks on the door. How do I know it's him? He always knocks 5 times, in a specific pattern.
"Yes?" I call through the door.
"I just wanted to check on you. Its time for another feeding and I don't want you to get sick again. "
Jeez, speaking of being sick. I've been sick since I turned. I guess that's a side effect of being incomplete. Will I ever fit in with the likes of Cam and Lawrence? They might be a**holes, but I could feel how powerful they were. They're not people you want to mess with.
"Terra?" Cam calls out again. Oh right, I should've responded.
" I'm fine Cam. I'm not really in the mood right now."
I hear him sigh through the door. "Terra, darling, I don't want to force you. However, you can get ill very easily if you skip the appropriate blooding times."
I hear Lawrence shout something from across the house, but I don't quite catch what he says. Ugh. What does he want now?
I hear Cam grumble. It'd be pretty cute if I weren't upset right now. "Also, you need to eat real food, too. To my knowledge, except for the cookies, you haven't eaten anything yet. Why don't you come out and I'll cook your favorite food for you?"
Did Mom tell him what it was, or was he saying he'd make it after I tell him? Either way, it sounded like a fair deal. Only one thing was bugging me. "Is your friend going to be joining us?"
He pauses before he speaks. "I feel like it might settle things if you guys talk it out over a good meal. I'd really like for you two to get along, y'know? You're both very important to me. I couldn't live without either one of you."
Aww, that sweet little vampire and his smooth talk! He's probably going to be able to talk me into anything. Man, I'm in trouble.
I unlock the bedroom door and let Cam in. The first thing he does is wrap me in a tight embrace. Wrapping my arms around his waist, I burry my face in his chest. Mmm, this is nice. He's so very warm.
Cam leans down and buries his face in the crook of my neck, sending a tingle down my spine. "Thank you." He whispers before quickly picking me up.
Startled, I yelp and latch my arms around his neck. "What was that for?"
With a wide mischievous grin, he says. "Easier to do this, of course." He drops me onto the bed and looms over me, pinning me in place. Instinctively, my arms are still around his neck, and with him on top of me, its almost like... Well, let's just say the unfinished thought makes me blush.
With the grin still on his face, Cameron leans down and graces me with a sweet, slow kiss. I don't think I'll ever get used to this. His lips taste too good. Kissing him back, I cup his cheek and try to draw his body closer to mine. Right as I was about to wrap a leg around Cam's thigh, an annoying knock came from the door.
"Hey you two, I don't smell any blood. If she wants to live, you've gotta feed her, dumbass!"
I swear by the gods, the noise that comes out of Cam's throat could be a snarl. Snapping his head up, he glares at the bedroom door. "If you don't leave me alone, I'll drain you dry."
With a chuckle, I hear Lawrence's footsteps leading away from the door.
Cam turns back towards me and rests his forehead on mine. "I'm sorry, love. He does have a point though, as much as we don't want to hear it."
I can't help but to chuckle. "Fine, it'll be okay. I'll go ahead and feed." With that, I put my hand on the back of his neck and draw him so close that he's practically laying on top of me. Biting into his neck, I feel Cam let out a small moan. I guess he must feel better, now that he doesn't have to hide his feelings. As I drink, I press my thighs into either side of his hips. I can feel his bulge. Mm, I know I gave him a few things to do first, but I personally wouldn't mind going for it now.
Cam follows my lead and gently grinds on my pelvis. With each movement comes another soft moan.
My body is getting hot. Like burning hot. I can't take the torture anymore! Releasing his neck, my lips quickly find his mouth. Opening his lips to me, I slide my tongue over his, tasting every inch of his mouth. He does the same, in sweet, hungry motions. I want this man to eat me whole, and I think he's willing to oblige!
When I feel like I'm going to explode with pent up lust, Cam gently pulls away. He's breathing heavily, and looks like he really wanted to continue. He cups a hand on my cheek, the other arm still braced around me, and gives me a quick peck on the lips. "My love, I would absolutely adore ravishing you here and now. But you gave me a list of things to do before that can happen, and I intend on finishing it and honoring my word.
I don't know what to say. Most men would have pretended to forget and gone for it anyway. But here was this sweet, handsome dork of a vampire, keeping his word and controlling himself. I never thought I'd say it, even in my own head, but I think I'm in love.
I reach up and give him another quick kiss. Then I loosen my thighs from around him so that he can get up." Thank you for keeping your word, Cam" With a smile, he reluctantly gets up. Reaching out a hand for me, he helps me sit up and off the bed.
"So," He starts, as we walk to the door, "I know you like curry, but your mother couldn't tell me what kind..."
I laugh at him. "Are you and my mom besties now?"
Cam, with a smile on his face, looks at me and says, "You don't understand. This woman calls me AT LEAST once a day to check you. And every time, she tells me more about you."
"Hmm, no wonder you know just how to get what you want from me. My mother taught you." I say it with a grin on my face.
Cam shakes his head at the thought. "I wish, it would've saved me some trouble. I've been flying by the seat of my pants all day." We both laugh together.
I can't help but thinking about how I got so lucky. Yeah, our origin is rooted in tragedy, but I wouldn't change a thing. Well, except maybe Lawrence.
When we get into the kitchen, he's sitting on the counter, swinging his feet like a child. "Hiya, folks. Now isn't that much better?" Cam shoots him a dirty look.
"Lawrence, look at me." Lawrence glances in his direction. "I need to go to the store and get a few things for dinner, but Terra isn't strong enough yet. Can I trust you to look after her, without causing a fight?"
Lawrence thinks about this for a moment, then looks at Cam as seriously as possible. "No promises, bro."
I swear, this guys messed up in the head. I grab Cam's arm to get his attention. "I'll be fine, I can hold my own with him. Why don't you hurry up and go so you can come back?"
He looks from me to Lawrence. "Are you sure?"
I nod my head and give him a reassuring smile. "I'm sure, hun."
It slipped off the tongue, but Cam caught the pet name. I could tell by the way his cheeks turned rosy and his eyes lit up. If I get that kind of reaction, I may start doing it more.
He gives me one last look as he grabs his keys out of a dish on the counter. "I'll be as quick as I can, please try not to kill each other." He looks like he wants to say more, but thinks better of it.
I wonder what he was going to say. Lawrence jumps off the counter. He gives me a lopsided grin, and as soon as Cam is out of the driveway, he asks, "So, when are you going to seal the deal with Cameron?"
I already wish Cam were back.
