Jeremy got up from his seat to leave when Hailey held his hand. "What now Hailey?". "Please sit down, I have something to ask you?". Jeremy let out a sigh and sat down to listen to her.
"So what do you wanna ask me? I'm all ears!". Hailey took a deep breath and finally spoke.
"Jeremy, I know we've been tied together against our wishes but it's left for us to make ourselves happy...".
"I never said I wasn't! I am happy!". He cut her shut. This guy would never change.
"I didn't say you aren't. What I'm trying to say is let's make this marriage work out. I know we don't love each other but let's try to do so. Can't we try to love and understand each other? This is what our parents want".
Jeremy bowed his head in silence with his eyes staring at the ground. This girl was indeed unbelievable.
"Hailey I guess you didn't get my point earlier. We are bond by this marriage but the truth is, I can never love you. I don't love you. I'm not sure I will ever grow to love you!". He stated to her clearly. Hailey could see her world crashing right before her eyes.
Jeremy's words were like hammer crushing her beautifully crafted imaginary world. How would she continue this way? Being in a marriage without love was a torture she wasn't ready to bear especially for the rest of her life. Does this mean he didn't have a heart to love? Or was he just as cold as ice?
"So are you trying to say we can never live together in love?".
"Hailey, I don't love you but I cannot reject the fact that you are my wife. As your husband, I'll carry out my duties to you".
"Does this mean you will do anything I want?".
"Positive! Yes I will Hailey to make you happy".
He still wanted to make her happy. Hailey stared at the young man sitting beside her. If he wanted to make her happy, there was a possibility that he could still fall in love with her.
"Fine. I'm okay with that". He got up to leave.
"I need to head to the hospital. I'm needed there. My dad says he's gonna introduced to his board of directors tomorrow".
"Okay!". She replied. Jeremy flashed a smirk and headed to the house.
"Jeremy there is still a possibility of you falling in love with me. I believe in love and you should too". Hailey stated at the top of her voice. Jeremy who was already making his way home, halted.
"Yeah. Whatever you say Hailey!".
Hailey let out a deep sighas she watched him walk away. When he was out of sight, she still remained unmoved. A lot of thoughts were running through her mind. She got lost in her thoughts.
