Chapter 4 - Fantasy becomes reality

Hailey couldn't believe her eyes. This awful nightmare was coming to reality. He was standing right there at the podium. "If only I could wake up from this dream". She took a deep breath as she walked down the aisle.

All eyes were fixed on her but the most disturbing one we're the eyes of the one she was about to Meet at the podium. She tried her best to read his expression but she couldn't get anything from it. "What kind of a person are you?".she asked within herself.

Her eyes pried through the veil as she looked at the young man in was about to meet. He was a perfection of handsomeness. He wasn't a god but he had the aura of one. He looked so gorgeous and handsome in that perfect suit of his. Everyone saw her as the luckiest girl as she was blessed with such a handsome young man for a husband.

Jeremy looked with prying eyes at the young lady in the beautiful dress walking down the aisle. To him, he saw her as an innocent lamb being taken to the slaughter.

She was undeniably beautiful from head to toes. "She doesn't deserve me. How did they tame you to accept me?". He asked within himself. Different thoughts were running through the minds of the two individuals. They tried their best not to put up any expression that would leave the crowd lost in their own thoughts.

Finally, she got to the podium. Her heart skipped a beat when she came face to face with Jeremy. Their eyes met and she couldn't break away from it. It seemed like he casted a spell that hypnotized her. Or could it be his cold hands which was contrary to hers that had stiffened her?

The priest began the solemnization. "Is there anyone here who is against this union between this man and woman? Speak now or forever remain silent!". His voice echoed in the premises. The was no response to his question. The hall was as silent as a grave yard.

With no response from the crowd, the priest continues the union. Hailey and Jeremy exchanged vows. She couldn't believe she was saying 'yes I do' to a man she didn't love. All they said we're just mere words. They didn't mean any of it. "How can I ever grow to love you?". She asked herself while looking at Jeremy. The procession was over and the priest pronounced them man and wife. There was cheering in every corner of the building.

The couples left the podium with Jeremy leading his new wife down the aisle. They both entered a Limousine which was to take them to the reception ground. Their parents had arranged the event in a big event centre. The wedding was the talk of the town as it was viral on on newspapers, blogs and the likes.

On their way to the reception ground, the duo said nothing to each other. There was total silence in the Limo. Hailey noticed that Jeremy was staring at her from the opposite direction. She felt irritated by it but she couldn't rebuff him. Their journey to the reception remained silent till they got there.

The guests were already seated awaiting their arrival. Jeremy stretched his hands towards her. "Let's go, the guests are waiting!". Those were his first words to her. She gave him her hand and they both approached the hall. They were welcomed by sounds of music and a cheering crowd.

The event started and the couple had their first dance. It was a silent one but their dance steps were perfect! Everyone especially their parents were impressed. One would think that they had practised before that day. Jeremy was quite impressed by Hailey's acting, she cooperated really well!

The couple were presented with so many gifts. As their parents held high standard in the city, people of high class attended the wedding and brought good gifts for the couple. The wedding was an unforgettable one for people who attended it.

It was time for Hailey and Jeremy to start up a life and family of their own. She hugged her parents and said goodbye to them.

She was officially entering the lion's den. On entering the car, silent tears rolled down her cheeks. She didn't know what was in store for her. She stared at her family through the window till they disappeared out of sight.
