Ranger Varr and Runemagi Vark had called the three humans in for a meeting. They were going to inform the trio of the council decision and seek their advice on how they should proceed.
Varr started the meeting."The council has decided that the humans are to be welcomed into galactic society and that the dwarves are to take over guardianship immediately but while we can make first contact we aren't allowed to share any advanced technology. I would like your thoughts on how we should approach first contact"
The three were considering how did they ever get in a position where this was a valid question. They were just nobodies from a secondary colony. They had no business in advising alien races how to approach humans. After some time Chris was the first to speak up, he had been trained to consider the diplomatic consequences as part of his officer training.
"It would all depend on the response to Null little show. If the majority believe him to be a divine being it will be hard to get them to accept the existences of aliens, but if a strong leader was able to convince them he wasn't then they might more open to welcoming aliens"
Runemagi Vark stepped up. "The situation is a little bit more complicated than that." He then showed them the news feeds coming from the earth and the major colonies. Showing the mass riots and unrest. There were even rumours of civil war breaking out on earth.
Lisa was shocked by the scenes, she didn't think that society was that fragile. "What happened? what are the leaders doing?"
"The Watcher judged everyone involved in Null imprisonment and punished them with divine justice" stated Varr. Lisa knew this was a euphemism for killing them and she knew how many powerbrokers had been involved in the imprisonment. This meant there was a large power vacuum that needed to be filled. She understood what advice she could give now.
"What do you want from the humans? You would be in a position to be a kingmaker. If you can find someone that aligns with your goals you could install a puppet to fill the power vacuum left behind"
Runemagi Vark was deep in thought, he was no stranger to the idea of puppet leadership and the idea had merit. "We want someone who can prepare the human race for war, and be willing to do anything to survive."
Jania who had been zoning out at all this boring political talk perked up. "Wait are you going to attack the humans?"
Varr stepped in to prevent any misunderstanding. "No not us, after you enter the galaxy you have a 10 standard years amnesty. A standard year is a little longer than your earth year so humans will have amnesty for about 12 years. Within that time the council guarantees your protection as long as you don't attack anyone. After that, any race within a tier of you is allowed to do what it wishes."
Chris picked up the implications straight away. "So we will be the weakest kid on the block and there are races that will want our resources? What about Null?" Chris didn't think Null could turn the tide of any wars, but he believe that Null may be able to make others think twice. He had picked up how the aliens seemed to be scared of him.
"Null will not be available, he has been placed under a type of house arrest for the foreseeable future, I have been assigned to assist him." Replied Runemagi Vark. He was the TMA member assigned to train Null.
"Uhm what about us?" Jania didn't care about wars, and puppet government etc but she did care about where she was going to live.
"Jania you have two options, you can stay here and help with first contact or you can go with Vark and stay with Null. Chris and Lisa, you have a 3rd option you can also return to human society" stated Varr.
Chris and Lisa knew the 3rd option wasn't possible they were fugitive and most likely considered traitors. The three had a discussion and it seems they were all in agreement, "We will go live with Null". Jania hadn't met Null since regaining conscious but she was sure it would be more interesting than politics.
The meeting when on for while longer. The dwarves asked many questions trying to gain an understanding of humans. Later that day Vark collected the 3 humans and took them shuttle ride to purgatory.
The 4 of them arrived in the hanger on the colony ship and were greeted by a small drone. "Chris, Lisa check out our new home!. Oh is that Jania and She awake! I will be right there". Chris and Lisa had never heard him so excited. It was not what they expected for a person under house arrest.
Null suddenly appear out of thin air. He connected with Jania privately. "Hi, we haven't met but I've seen your memories. I am sorry for what you have gone through because they were trying to make you like me. Don't worry, I have punished them all"
Jania didn't know what to make of it all. She had been told the story but to see him in real life, He didn't seem like someone who would go on a rampage. "thank you, I hope to get to know you better" is all she could come up with.
"Don't worry big sis, I'm sure we will get along well"
"uhmm, I'm not your sister"
"Well we are both children of the super-soldier programs, so yes, you're my big sis"
Jania didn't know what to say and before she could respond Null had already moved on. This time his voice came from his drone.
"Ahh you're the TMA agent that going to teach me technomagic so I can become stronger?"
Vark didn't know what to make of this hyperactive child. He had been warned that Null was extremely dangerous but he didn't see it.
The Watcher Floated in and connected to everyone minds. "Sorry he hasn't slept for 2 days and he been a little excited after opening up this ship."
