Chapter 14 - Jania

The news had made It to the information network. Terrorists had attacked Mars and blew up the military orbital station killing hundreds of people. Null knew the exact count to be 234. He knew he should have felt guilty but he didn't. He had given them enough time to evacuate and had set off some mini charges to make sure they took the warning seriously.

The Martian government was still vowing to have the new year celebration tonight to show the solar system that they could not be defeated by terrorists.

Null had received another bonus for his recent victory.

** Enemies Defeated: 234 Empire Point: +2340**

** Library Unlocked**

He had unlocked a new feature of his system. The Library contained information that could be purchased with Empire Points(EP). The information available ranged from crafting blueprints to technomagic and real magic spells. Null decided to save his points for now until he had time to analyse the options, He currently had to focus on recovering from his trip to Mars.

Lisa had decided to focus on identifying the mystery prisoner."Chris, you called the girl Jania, do you know her?"

"We talked and hung out a few times at school. She was the lowest ranking soldier from the super-soldier program. Strangely, she was reported to be AWOL 3 weeks ago"

Lisa had a sinking feeling, she didn't think it was a coincidence that she went missing the same week they got Null's complete medical scans. She knew that super-soldier students were considered to be the property of the defence force as they were bred specifically to be placed into pods. This made them the perfect candidates for human experimentation.

Zero was also investigating what had happened to this mystery girl. He found evidence of multiple surgeries being performed on her brain. Each surgery seems to be trying to replicate a unique feature of Null's brain. They didn't understand that Null developed in an overstimulated environment so his brain had adapted to it as it developed. This young lady brain had already been developed so it couldn't adapt to the changes.

Zero believed her lack of mental activity was a defensive mechanism to handle the torturous state of constant sensory deprivation. They had built new input sensors but the primitive bioimplant couldn't supply enough sensory data to the brain.

Zero connected the humans to his mental network and explained what he had found as he wanted their input on what he should do. He presented two possible options. He could selectively damage her brain further to relieve the pain but that would affect her memory and cognitive abilities, but she would be able to live a life without assistance but not be able to do any complex tasks.

The second option was to install an implant that could give her the extra stimulation needed. This option would require a lot of rehabilitation to get used to the new sensory inputs. Another problem with this option was that it would be high-level technology and could limit her ability to return to human society.

"if we go with option 2 I would have to bring in an outside expert as I am not an expert on organic operations and implants."

Lisa spoke up "The custom is to let the patient decide on their medical treatment, is there any way to get her input?" She couldn't understand how this had happened without her knowing. She was the chief scientist on the station. An experiment like this shouldn't have been possible without her knowing.

"Null and I can try to connect with her but I am not sure of her mental state or if she even fit to be making a medical decision but we can at least try." Zero and Null both moved closer to where Jania was resting on the bed. Zero had noticed that Null seems to have stronger mental powers than himself so he asked Null to create the link and he would piggyback off it.

The first thing both of them noticed once connected was the rage. They could sense unbridled and unending rage over the mental connection and it was focused on the Martian Miltary. They tried to connect to Jania to talk to her but they were forced to relive her recent memories. It seemed like she was caught in some type of loop.

They relived her being called into the office to meet her commanding officer and being asked to come in for some standard medical tests.

Once she came in for the exam she knew they weren't standard. The guards tied her down to the bed while the military doctors operated on her while she was awake. They had told her they needed her awake to get the most accurate data possible. After each operation, she would be put through a series of tests by John her commanding officer. These tests were just torture by another name. They would test her until she broke and then operate again.

This cycle continued until Jania could no longer function and was placed in the cell to rot. The two of them disengaged the mental link. They hadn't gotten their answer but the memories had made a mark on each of them.

Null was furious and he knew who to blame. They had used his information to butcher and abuse this poor girl. Null started to glow black and his wings and Halo appeared and were glowing black.

** Fusion Ability Unlocked: God's Wrath**

** Mission Granted: Divine Justice: Bring Justice to Jania's Torturers **

Zero identify the ability instantly. 'that is Azrael ability, it judges all who touch it and those found guilty die.' "Quick everyone back, whatever happens, don't touch him".
