Chapter 25 - Weirdo

"Denny's effect" Alex answered instead. They all knew Damien was sick, women sick, thanks to his mother. The woman could be described as irresponsible and selfish, but yet she is still his mother and he definitely can't change that fact. Damien hated his mother for she did to him and his family. His father's health health condition became worse because of her. Damien's frown deepen.

"Damien, you have to let go." Dennis said, seriousness laced on his voice.

"Easy said than done. My father's health worsen because of her." Damien gritted his teeth. The anger he felt towatds her was too much. Though he wanted her to suffer the same pain and despair he went through, his father and siblinIgs went through but what can he do. His father's warned him not to lay a finger on her. He was hopeless untill he met a young girl around five years of age. She made him strong unbeknownst to her. That was when he made the decision to become a doctor.

"It's been so many years, Damien. At least your father's health is in a much better condition thanks to your hard work." Dennis exhaled loudly. There's hardly anything that could bring out his angry side except the mention of his mother's name. Poor thing.

"I've equally told him that before, but.... all fell on deaf ears." Came Alex's frustrated voice. He's tried everything in his power to make this iceberg let go but it was all to no avail.

"Damien, I won't advice you to let go or hold on to the past, but my advice to you is to follow your heart. If it tells you to let go, fine. And if it tells you to hold tight to the past, fine. But do remember this, you're gradually injuring yourself."

Days turned to months and Eli has adjusted well. After the encounter with Joseph and the death of Aunt Mary.

Working in Life Global Hospital gave her time to gather her thoughts and move on. Though, She really didn't study medicine, but she was coping just fine.

Though, there were lots of insults thrown at her by some bully workers. she has been doing very good as the Manager's secretary.

"Eli" The Manager called her.

"Sir" She went in to answer him.

"I want you to take this file to the CEO"

"Okay sir" Eli took the file from him and went to give it to the CEO. With a light knock on the door she walked in. To be frank, she really isn't fond of the CEO.

"Manager Dmitri asked me to give you this sir." She said and put down the file on the table.

Damien was signing some documents to keep his mind out of his God-damned mother, when he heard a light knock on the door, but before he could permission she walked in.

"Manager Dmitri asked me to give you this sir." She said and then dropped it on the table, intending to leave.

'rude' he thought.

"What's your name" asked the CEO out of the blues, Eli stopped in her track, turned and stared at the CEO.

"Elena" She answered curtly.

"Elena what?" He pried

"Elena Frost" Elena felt like spanking this CEO of hers real bad.

"Oh!" Damien observed her for some time and, "Call me your Manager."

"Huh?"

"You heard me."

Sensing the coldness and indifference in his voice, Eli sprinted from there to call the Manager.

She relayed the message to the Manager and left to continue her work.

The next day went smoothly like every other day.

On the third day after her encounter with the annoying cold hearted CEO, she was called to his office much to her horror.

"Good morning sir" She greeted the moment she stepped into his office.

"Good morning. Sit." He picked up a file from the table. "I heard you're good at what you do." He started, "Well I can attest to that." He looked up fr the files he was holding.

Eli got more confused at his words. Eli was still trying to know what this whole whole meeting is about when they heard a light knock on the door, the CEO gave permission and the manager walked in.

"Sir, I got what you asked me to get." The manager reported, which was acknowledged by a nod.

"From today onwards, you'll be working for me..." He drawled.

'What a weirdo, aren't I working for you?' She thought, scoffing inwardly.

"...And under me."

'What the heck!!' She—
