Chapter 8 - Newcomers are welcomed with a celebration.

"Before I go, we have scheduled a welcome celebration for first-year and senior students this evening, so please do not avoid attending; it is mandatory for everyone in attendance." As Principal Mark exited the corridor, he added,

I sighed as I heard the last line, and Maggie danced with excitement when she heard it. Everyone in the room appeared pleased with the party news, and as Maggie dragged me away to the dorm, I cast a short peek back to see if I could catch Hudson, but he had already vanished by the time I turned to recheck.

"What on earth are you looking at?" Maggie inquired, her eyes catching mine.

"Nothing, let's leave. We have to prepare for these ridiculous parties that I'm already disliking." Maggie sighed at me as I complained.

"You are the most disinterested person I have ever encountered. Come on; we need to pick what we'll wear to the party since they have chosen us for the elite club, and royalties are our teammates. " Maggie stated.

"Don't worry, I'm still shocked by the news," I added. Eva was in the Elite group of royals in my previous life, not me, but my future seems to change, and I am concerned.

Finally, Maggie and I arrived at our respective dormitories. When I entered my room, they decorated it with magnificent art, and the room's design fit my taste; the walls were light blue, and the gorgeous picture hung on the walls. The carpets were lovely; I felt like I was in a royal chamber. Of course, this is astonishing to some, but I know that at the Academy, they permitted alcohol since there is no such thing as a human academy. Without alcohol, the supernatural would go insane.

With my magic, I put my clothes and books on the study desk and sat down to read a novel to pass the time. After an hour of beautiful reading time, I hear a knock and open the door to find a package with a message in front of my door.

As a token of my gratitude for accepting my offer, I give you this humble gift. Xavier.

As I got the box, I unboxed it to discover a gorgeous gown in a light blue hue that shimmered as I carefully pulled the garment out of the box. The garment featured off-shoulder sleeves, which gave it a Cinderella-like appearance. It was also appropriate for the Princess.

"It's hard to imagine, considering your icy demeanor, that you have such a lovely outfit in your closet. A princess dress? " Maggie exclaimed as she entered. My dorm. I wanted to inform Maggie that this was not my collection, but a gift from Xavier, but she wouldn't allow me to go without her, so I followed her assumption.

"Are you going to wear this beautiful gown tonight?" Maggie inquired.

"I suppose so." I included it since, to be quite honest, I didn't have a dress for going out to a party, and this dress will be the perfect fit for the evening; it's also more convenient than shopping for a new dress and wasting money on it. But it seems improper to wear the clothing Xavier gave me as a present, but I want to wear a gorgeous gown.

They gave all the new students the day off since it was their first day in the senior department. Maggie had taken me on a shopping mall tour, where all the students go to get their supplies. It was a fascinating experience. Maggie spent the whole day running from store to store, and I spent the entire day shopping for some items I didn't have and wearing a stiletto. I've never had girl's clothing; thus, my wardrobe primarily comprises functional objects. It fed me up with shopping. I did not know that shopping was such a grueling experience until recently.

"Shopping was a pleasure for me. What about you?" Maggie inquired.

"Do you see how pleased I am? I'm exhausted from shopping, and I don't see why you're having so much fun with this nonsense." Maggie tapped her palm dramatically in response to my sighs of frustration.

"You are unmistakably different from everybody else I've met," Maggie says quietly.

I suddenly felt uncomfortable as we walked into our rooms to prepare for the party. I wouldn't say I like to interact with other people. Walking in high heels makes me cringe, and if I fall into this long gown while wearing high heels, I will undoubtedly become a laughingstock. Sitting on the bed, I couldn't bring myself to change my clothes and go to the party.

I sat there curling up in a ball and staring at the evening sky, drinking some tea to keep warm in the chilly weather, and watching television to get my mind off my wandering thoughts when I heard the tap on the door. I knew it must be Maggie, but I didn't dare answer the door.

"Aria, the party is about to start, and we are running late," Maggie spoke from the other side of the door.

"Maggie, Although I doubt I'll be able to attend these events, why don't you go, anyway?" I'm speaking from within my room.

"Are you serious? You forgot about Principal Mark. Everyone should be able to make it to the party." Maggie hissed at me.

"I know, but I have an excuse: I'm sick and won't be able to make it to the party," I respond. I

"For God's sake, Aria. You're such a stubborn lady. Well, I'm not going without you." Maggie wailed from the side.

"The obstinate one, when you are not listening to me and not attending the party, Maggie, why don't you go to the party immediately," I shouted back at her. But Maggie used her magic to open the door, and she went in wearing a gorgeous purple gown, her hair in a bun, and her makeup well applied.

"I'm going to bring you out of your room, and you think your juvenile antics will keep me at bay." Maggie snorted and groaned. The only thing I did was disregard everything that was said. "Aria, what's the matter with you?"

"I'm not a big fan of socializing, and I'm apprehensive about our new team selection." Maggie clasped my hand in hers while I said this under my breath.

"You are exceptional and powerful, and I understand it is difficult to be supernatural beings on a different level of socialization. So, Aria, don't be afraid; facing your fears is the only way to succeed." Maggie remarked quietly, and I looked at her with kind words. When I was afraid as a child at the orphanage, I had no one to turn to for emotional support, so I learned to cope independently. It took Maggie's hand to brush away my tears; I did not know I was sobbing until she did so.

"It's alright if you don't want to leave. I'll remain here with you." Maggie murmured, a slight grin on her lips.

"No, we're going to allow ourselves some time to put the dress on, and I don't know the made thing you need to assist me with," I said. Maggie chuckles and nods at me as I give her instructions. Then, as I stepped out into the outfit, I heard Maggie gasp in surprise.

"You don't need to beautify yourself since you're gorgeous," Maggie said. I rolled my eyes at her, but I cracked a grin. To complete the appearance, Maggie put light makeup on my pale face and used magic to curl my mid-length brown hair, which she secured with a brooch to end the outfit. When I looked in the mirror, it surprised me how different I looked, and it seemed like I was entirely another person.

"Come, Aria, we've already missed half the celebration. Let's not stay too long." Maggie prodded me to move in my high heels, but I walked in them.

We were at the ball entry when the gate opened, and all the partygoers' eyes were drawn to us as we made our way to the party. Maggie saw my predicament and took my hand in hers, giving me a comforting smile and telling me not to be concerned. But, at long last, the stares from the onlookers faded away, and Maggie brought me a drink to aid me with my survival in the gathering.

"I made the proper choice with the outfit; it is perfect for you," Xavier said from behind, and I turned to find him dressed in a tuxedo with his hair slicked back. He seemed more appealing, with a sculpted jawline and full lips to complement his good looks. But I immediately diverted my attention so I wouldn't get fixated on him.

"Thank you, but please don't tell Maggie about this knowledge since she will not allow me to relax and will go matchmaking for you and me again," I utter the words without consideration. I am unsure whether my assumption about Xavier's reaction was correct; he glanced at me with amusement and a spark of passionate gaze.

"Don't be concerned. Your secret is safe with me." When Xavier spoke this to me in low tones, my body tingled with the sensation of his proximity, yet I took a step back from him. Fortunately, Maggie returned and talked Xavier's ears off, so I could go away.

Walking across the room to retrieve my second glass of wine, I connect with a solid, hard object. Before I fall back to the ground with the contact, a hand circles around my waist, and my eyes are drawn to the figure, who turns out to be Alpha Colton!

"I apologize for not seeing where I was heading," I respond quickly as Colton's hands help bring me back to my feet.

"Where exactly are you going?" Colton inquired. I'm taken aback because he's talking to me. In our previous lives, we didn't even exchange a single word.

"I'm going to fetch a drink for myself," I reply with a single exhalation.

"Take the glass here." As Colton placed the wine in my palm, his action surprised me. I reach out to touch the glass, but I'm baffled by Colton's behavior. Colton's obsidian eyes were looking at me with a tinge of curiosity, and his body responded to his gaze in a heated sense. To my astonishment, my history would appear whenever I saw Colton, and Colton's furious visage would appear, but this Colton looked nothing like the psychopath who murdered me.

"Thank you... I need to take a break." Quickly, I answer and walk away without allowing Colton a chance to express himself.

I stroll to the balcony with a glass of wine that Colton had given me; it differs from the one Maggie had bought for me. I scrutinized the wine before drinking it, and it turned out safe. However, the wine tasted extraordinary, leaving my tongue with various sensations. The drink was delicious, so I sipped it while opening my clutch bag, pulling out my phone, and inserting my earplugs so I could listen to music I liked instead of the standard.

Since my dress was thin, I used my magic to keep myself warm against the chilling cold. It fixed my eyes on the night sky, and the whole moon glistened in the black sky. Even though it was unusual for me to enjoy the party alone, I had a good time grooving to the tunes. I turned around to find Hudson, Xavier, and Colton gazing at me with a smile and my hand in the air with my phone and headphones in my ear. As I stopped dancing, the glass of wine slid from my palm, and I felt embarrassed for standing up and dancing like a weirdo in the middle of the night.
