Chapter 13 - Chapter 12

CASTLE'S RESIDENCE.

"What's going on?" Daniel asked soon after he arrived in the center of the living room.

"Where's Emma?" William asked.

Emma immediately entered the house and walked slowly to them.

"What's going on?" She asked.

"I need you to use your powers and slow the fairies burn on him," William said pointing at Rex laying on the couch lifelessly.

"The last time I tried talking to you you blasted me and left me in the rain, and now you need my help?"

"Are you gonna do it or not?" He sounded upset.

"Great!" Emma exclaimed and hurried to Rex, then placed her hands on him. "How am I suppose to do this?"

"Know what you want and believe," William replied. "How many times will you grab that?"

Suddenly, a bright light shown from her palms and eyes, absorbing into him, yet nothing happened.

"It's not working, there's no sign," Emma said.

"He's dead," Alisa said softly, walked to Rex and shut his left opened eyes.

"I'm sorry," Emma sympathized.

Alisa nodded wiping off a tear on her face then stood up to William.

"Where can I find the Castles?" She asked reaching for her bag.

"You're in the right place," he replied. "I'm William Castle."

"Wow!" She exclaimed softly and dropped her bag. "Where's your brother then, the werewolf?"

He turned and stared at Emma, then Alisa followed too and so did Daniel, all eyes were just on her.

"What?" Emma asked unpleasantly.

"We don't know," William softly replied.

"What do you mean you don't know? Well, is he alive?"

"We don't know!" He yelled moving away from her.

"Oh my God!" Alisa exclaimed slowly bending to sit. "He can't be dead or lost."

"Why are you looking for him?" Daniel asked.

"My mother was patron of the coven of witches in Hilltop," Alisa replied. "And she died protecting this pearl," she removed and held it in her palm. "She handed it to me with Rex to find the werewolf and let him have the power in the pearl. My mother was killed by an alpha, and still sent a whole pack after us to retrieve it. It's called the 'moon curse'."

"I've heard of it," Daniel averred. "But I thought it was mare legend. So it's real?"

"It could be traced to over thousand years ago, when a wolf king invited the whole pack of blood mooners, werewolves made on full blood moons. They were rare, as a matter of fact just five of them. But together they were more powerful than any pack, more than the king and even the alphas. And when they came, they were ambushed and poisoned by a witch, a very powerful one and their powers were drained into this pearl. The king had conspired with the witch to have their powers for himself. The leader of the pack on his dying breath cursed it that no one will be able to absorb it. The king died immediately he crushed the pearl and the powers went inside and out of him back into the pearl. Hence, no one survived the blood moon transition. Years later a visionary witch revealed a prophecy that one who survives the blood moon can absorb it. And until a year ago, a missing piece from the page of the prophecy was found which said even the maker of that werewolf can as well absorb it, and hence werewolves have sort it. My ancestors have been in position of it through time."

"Even if he was here, he wouldn't take it," William said. "He's not after power."

"You don't get it, the fate of many depends on it," Alisa rouse up.

"What does that mean?" Daniel curiously asked.

"There's another prophecy that forecasted the rise of great evil here in Shade and will spread throughout the rest of the towns, and only with the presence of the 'blood mooner' will the living stand a chance. And your brother is the only werewolf made on blood moon since."

"How about his maker, he can as well have it," William deemed.

"The prophecy is clear, a blood mooner."

"So what do you suggest we do!?" William shouted at her.

"We gotta find him and hand him the pearl. If not today then it might be too late," Alisa said.

"Why?" Emma asked.

"Because tonight is another full blood moon, and the werewolves now know the pearl is here and will transform gladly just to attack for it. So we have to find him before then."

"It's locked, you can't find him. Witches took him," William said.

"Don't worry, not with a queen white witch beside me," She replied smiling while getting a map from her bag.

"A queen white witch, who?" Daniel asked serving as a mouth piece to both William and Emma.

"You don't know?" Alisa paused staring at the ignorance in their faces. "Emma here is the queen of the white witches," she then turned to William. "I thought you knew, that white witch that killed Rex wasn't surprised because she couldn't hurt you, she was because only a queen white witch's protection can be invulnerable to attacks from other white witches."

"Wait, I thought it was all white witches?" Daniel asked.

"No, only a queen has that power, and Emma has it, the pure white light. All the others has yellow."

"Are there any others?" Emma asked.

"No, a queen is only born in every five hundred years. The one before you lived five hundred years ago, and after you will still be five hundred more before another is born," she then faced Emma. "You're powerful than anyone in this room."

"Lucy knew, she said I won't be hurt by another," William said. "That's why her protection didn't last for long."

Emma was boggled and no suitable word seemed to fit a perfect speech to utter at the moment, she only exclaimed 'wow'.

Alisa quickly arranged candles round the map and requested for William's blood to serve as a link to his brother. Soon, she began her incantations and wind started howling, then blood slowly running down from her nose, then eyes.

"Stop!" Daniel said.

"Emma, shield me," Alisa requested and Emma without waste of time made a shield of light around her.

A few seconds after the map caught fire and Alisa was forcefully pushed so hard to the wall. William rushed and held her in his arms.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

She was alive but said nothing, so William bit his wrist and was reaching to give her some of his blood for instant healing.

"No vampire blood," she suddenly declined and took her face away. "I'll be fine."

He helped her up but she was unsteady, must had been slight dizziness.

"I know where he's been held," she said and they all locked their sight on her in curiosity.

"We go at nightfall. It's in the mountains, just outside Shade," she said and went for her bag.

"Alright, we should go get ready," Daniel suggested.

"What are you exactly," Alisa asked him.

"Hunter, a very good one."

"I don't see how you can help against an army of witches. They will just use your weapons against us with their telekinetic abilities. Emma will do."

"No, I'm not going," She declined immediately.

"Why? We need someone with your powers, very."

"Help finding him is the best I can do, and I just did, " she replied and walked out of them leaving, and Daniel went after her.

"Vampire, werewolf, hunter and a white witch, you guys all together in harmony and she doesn't wanna help?" Alisa seemed boggled.

"I don't wanna talk about it," William said and headed for the stairs.

"William!" She called.

"What again?"

"My mother said you'll protect me, and our first meeting you did. Thank you."

"Who's your mother?"

"Agnes."

At the sound of it he froze, slowly walking back downstairs. Probably it triggered a memory.

"Agnes was your mother. We were very close."

She nodded her head replying, "I thought as much. I will need your help in burying my friend."

He still was caught up in the web of the revelation and still looked stunned.

That night, they set out for the rescue mission and Emma joined them as well. In the mountains, they were able to enter undetected as Alisa disabled the binding spell to grant them entrance. They must had been less bothered of intruders so left the place less guarded than usual. While in, Alisa again used her magic to move a piece of stick with William's blood on it, which helped navigated Julian's exact location. They were led to a cave, and there was Julian, lying lifelessly on the ground in chains. He looked famished, pale and wounds all over his body. Emma immediately broke down in tears as she saw him, while William rushed to him but was bounced back as he reached to touch him.

"There's a hidden barrier surrounding him," Alisa said moving closer.

She further tried breaking the barrier but to no avail, all her efforts were worthless.

"I can't, this was done by a very powerful witch," she surrendered.

"No, we need to get him out," William held her arm. "Please, look at him, he's barely breathing."

"You can't help him," Lucy said from behind them. "He can only help himself."

"You're dead Lucy," William released his fury on her.

"You bitch!" Emma followed.

"You shouldn't waste your time fighting me, you should try talking to him out of there by himself. Am not here to stop you but help."

"Well help yourself," William rushed and choked her up with a hand. "Tell me why I shouldn't snap your neck?"

"I-I, I, am s-sorry," she struggled. "I can, h-help."

"Let her go William, she's telling the truth," Emma averred.

"How do you know?" Daniel asked.

"I don't know how, I just saw through her and this feeling."

"Only queens do that," Lucy said.

"She's right, queens look through white witches just to assure loyalty," Alisa added.

William then dropped her.

"How?" He asked.

"The witches in Shade are here, they joined alliance in anticipation to kill William and anyone with him," Lucy replied massaging her neck. "The werewolves have also been sighted down the mountain, they're after the pearl. So the sooner we talk to him out there the better, because when the wolves get here they'll now face the witches thinking they have the pearl. I know another way out."

"Why? Why now?" Emma asked.

"Because I was brainwashed, all she wanted was to get Julian for herself, with the pearl. She saw a vision and made me get him here because her magic is useless against him. She knew the lady was gonna bring the pearl so she wanted him here so she could keep him contained, then break him and make use of him. I only wanted him to suffer, not kill or turn him into a weapon of massacre. Stygian used me."

"Did you just say 'Stygian'?" Alisa asked.

"Yes."

"Oh my God!" She exclaimed looking rather petrified. "We gotta get him out of here now!"

"What's she?" Daniel asked.

"No time for that, let's get this done," Lucy said hurrying to Julian. "William, you two are connected, bond by blood, you can talk to him."

He rushed down to him and laid beside him, just before the barrier, and began urging him, pleading even.

Soon, they heard howling outside the mountains and looking out, the full blood moon was already up to its peak.

"We gotta hurry up, he needs to crush the pearl before transition, or he'll die after tonight," Lucy said.

"Traitor!" A voice came behind them, a witch, and few more came.

William got up and assembled with the rest in defense while Emma stayed back. She gently went on her knees and forced her glowing hand beyond the barrier but not enough to touch him.

"Hey, I know things didn't went well between us, but please take my hand let me pull you out. This is as far as my hand can reach."

She went on mindless of the action in the background, for she was untouchable, her entire body glowing in bright, white light. No one she didn't approve of would dare touch her, for the person will burn instantly.

"Remember when I said you were my hero, well, you need to get up now and affirm that all over again."

Suddenly, he moved a muscle, and his fingers shuffled to hers, and as soon as the tip of their fingers touched, the barrier broke which caused a radiation pushing her away.

"Yes!" Alisa hyped excitedly and quickly placed the pearl in his hand then helped him crush it. Just then an army of werewolves showed up, all in their full transition and potentials.

"Get behind me," Emma said taking the lead.

A bright, scorching light, flowing with flames dawned on the werewolves, burying them in it. And when it all cleared, none of them was left standing, but steaming like a really nice barbecue.

Julian however was still down and weak, so William reached out to carry him on his back.

"No," Lucy stopped him. "Leave him, you don't want to be anywhere close to him now."

"She's right," Alisa said. "He'll catch up. Let's go."

They headed out through the back running down the mountain. The witches back in had just reinforced, about forty of them, while more werewolves were sighted entering the other side of the mountain.

Down in the forest still on the run, they heard the loudest howl in the entire record of howling. Then a deep monstrous roar. After that, random and scattered screams took possession of the entire mountain.
