Chapter 8 - An Abyssal Welcome

The haze had turned into clouds now and it was seeming to rain at any moment. While everyone at the guild mostly adventurers gathered, everybody thinking to form a party and investigate the runes. Being a D ranked adventurer and planning to enter the quest Walter approached Hein and invited him to his party to which Hein couldn't say no and joined, when Hein joined his table to form a plan he knew that Walter's team had another 2 members, both seemed not much experienced and assumed that his helping newbies in the state of emergency.

The both seemed new guys from which one of them was a mage with a fire staff and medium silver plated gear, the other guy was a brawler with storm knuckles and chainmail armour. They both have seemed to start recently, Hein knew he was playing as a D ranked adventurer and planning to move according to it. He had zero gear but haven't told abut it to anyone yet Hein managed to hear of the out the plan and reasoned to go go for supplies back at his inn. Hein had a gold coin left and he knew he didn't had any powerful physical attacks so he went to play as mage, he quickly went to the Blacksmith and bought a cheap mage gear as a hat, cloak and a null elemental ward.

As planned, Hein rushed towards the town's gates and joined the party.

The party with bunch other parties rushed towards the ruins to investigate in the temptation of the rewards. A walk of few hours led them to the area where the ruins had raised. The ruins had raised in a territorial forrest region and as Hein could observe the trees and plants near the ruin were starting to wither and decay. The place surrounding the ruins was all filled with monsters which were attracted by the aura from the ruins.

Many low leveled goblins rushed towards Hein's party which they saw from the distance, the whole bunch of adventurers engaged them, fighting them moving forward. The fight attracted more monsters nearby creating a swarm where the mages stepped in firing AOE spells with a rhythm.

Hein was behind the veterans surprisingly watching and wondering how the mages and fighters were in sync and stepping in and out when their chances arrive.

Hein was behind, not knowing many spells he waited patiently paying attention towards other mages he learnt a fire spell by chants.

Finding a goblin running towards him Hein chanted the spell and fired off a huge unexpected blast which he assumed to be cause of his mana and his race.

With the goblin turning into nothing but pure ash, Hein didn't expect it, silently moving away he was safe as not many people saw the blast he turned silent not killing much and slowly moving with the crowd.

After tense two hours, the party reached the doors of the ruins, not knowing that they would need so long exhausting much of their mana and supplies. The crowd stopped securing the area and decided to rest everyone just sat down resting and restoring their stamina and mana. Many of adventurer parties moved forward as they were not much exhausted and wanted to reach before anyone. Slowly opening the giant door of the ruins, the doors were heavy dark with gold plating on borders and spikes on front and skulls on the top because of which it seemed more like a dungeon and less a ruins, some people went back reporting it to the guild for better backup.

After the doors were opened and nobody entered an earthquake hit them hard falling everyone on ground with two sentinels fading in from the fog inside the ruins towards the crowd, on further observation they noticed that the sentinels were rift golems with abyssal saws equipped.

A sudden imergengcy message was sent by the veterans to the guild saying -

" Imergengcy Notice,

The ruins which arose a few days ago are not any ordinary ruins. The ruins which was discovered is declared to be a S-ranked Abyssal Dungeon !!

Requesting for advanced adventurers immediately "

With this suddenly all veterans gathering ahead in a defensive pose and mages activating a mass mana defensive barrier.

With Walter screaming out warning everyone -

" Quick all low ranked adventurers run, seek immediate cover, beware of aerial attacks!! "

Hein is now puzzled, thinking from his past life that sentinels are like golems from his past life videogames they shouldn't be doing aerial attacks. With this the guy behind Hein suddenly got struck by something with this Hein looking backwards the man who got struck was in two pieces with a foundation of bloodshed everywhere.

Slowly more adventurers started dropping off like flies who were out side the barrier, in seconds everyone panicked running for their lives and now veterans couldn't handle them. Hein being calm in such situations, was thinking about a plan to kill these sentinels as he looked at them there were spell mortars on their backs which were creating this mess.

The sentinels moved near the barrier and slashed it in two with which the veterans lounging upon the sentinels attacking with various powerfull skills. The veterans managed to break the mortars apart in time but were in difficult condition of being killed where Hein thought he had no other option than helping them from secret.

The veterans were barely countable on hand,

and were giving some time for others to run.

Some of the crowd went forward helping the veterans after the breaking of mortars but couldn't help much and ended in shreds, with veterans knowing the proper knowledge to dodge attacks and hit with counter attacks helped them survive till this far but couldn't survive much more as their stamina getting exhausted.

The sentinels started to push storming on the exhausted group with their huge amounts of mana supply. Suddenly from the crowd came rushing a spear engulfed in dark flames breaking apart the first sentinel in pieces and creating a smoke at the veterans fight area and now none could see anything with this two flashes happed in the smoke one red upwards and the second dark purple sideways. After which everything had turned silent. The smoke disappeared slowly, after which the veterans noticed two things,

firstly the sentinels were turned to broken stone and the second that ther was a red flash in the air.

Hein noticed the flash was sent as a signal by sentinels but somebody destroyed it as soon as possible. With veterans wondering who destroyed the sentinels so strong in such a short time span, Hein as normal as he could walked towards a tree and sat under it resting as he had used a lot of mana to throw those spears.
