The new students followed their professors to a portal behind the Griffon Hall. The professors went through, and the students followed them. On the other side of the portal was a massive arena that could easily fit 50 000 people. It was a round arena with the stands starting at 10m above the ground and ending up as high as 30m from the ground. The arena had a diameter of 100m so that the competitors had space to fight in.
The arena was made from stone and looked like it had stood there for over 300 years. The walls were sandy from the deterioration over the years. "Sorry Professor Levesque. Is this building not going to collapse on us? Is it safe to go in?" asked a young girl with fuzzy, light brown hair, and dark blue eyes like the deep of the ocean.
Professor Levesque chuckled lightly to the girl's question not to be mean but out of the amusement he found for the question. "No, it won't. Do not worry we have put up magical protections using earth magic so that the arena can not be tampered with, and it will not collapse because we have a repairing array that repairs all the damage that the arena may sustain from fights between students. So do not worry about it collapsing on our heads because it will not happen."
The young girl and most of the students present sighed in relief as their worries had now disappeared. "Okay then can every follow me up the stairs here. We will be at the top seats so that you can have a full view of the match." Professor Levesque said as he walked up the stairs in the wall.
Once at the top Sasori, Jay, Marcus and Jacob found seats and sat next to each other. "This is the first-time seeing mages fight live. All I have heard are stories of great mages battling but I have never seen a fight for real. I wonder who is going to be fighting and how strong they are?" Sasori said to his friends next to himself.
"My mom has seen a mage fight once before and she said it was the most amazing thing she had ever seen. She said that she saw only colours as the mage moved so fast to kill a monster that was approaching town. I have high expectations for this battle." Jay said as everyone listened to him. Everyone around them was also anticipating this fight including the Professors behind them.
"Apparently these two have really improved their magical abilities and have already come up with their own spells. Professor Nara didn't you teach these two in their first 3 years?" Professor O'Brien said to his fellow Professors.
Everyone turned their attention to Professor Nara even a few of the students to hear what was to be expected of the upcoming fight. "I did teach them for 3 years, but they weren't much when I had them. They only started becoming the stars of the school in their senior years. I once saw them sparring together I must say that it was very impressive. This was in their 5th year, so I am expecting them to be better now that they are in their final year."
Everyone was a bit shocked at the professor's words especially the other professors as Professor Nara never complimented anyone because he saw himself above everyone else. The teachers then became excited because they were expecting to see a spectacle like never before. 'If Professor Nara is saying this then how much have those two youngsters improved.' Professor Levesque thought to himself.
The head of the Senior years stepped into the middle of the arena. "Greetings everyone. My name is Professor Adara. Yes, I know it is a unique name but is my own so let's move on." Professor Adara was a young woman with long blonde hair with streaks of brown in it and Sapphire blue eyes. The new students were wondering why she was a Professor, but she was known as one of the strongest mages in the world.
"Today you have come to see a bout like none before it. These two individuals have been rivals ever since they came to their senior years and today will see who has the upper hand in this rivalry. Their win/loss record is 6 wins each and 2 draws where neither of them could continue. Before we start Professor Nara could you please come down here to be the official and stop the bout if things get dangerous." Professor Nara nodded and then jumped into the arena with Professor Adara.
"Thank you. Okay now to introduce our competitors. They have both been in the A class since they arrived at this school. They represent our school as the top two students and barely anything separates them except for a slight difference. Our first competitor is the second-best student in the school who some speculate will become a Great Mage and an important figure in the magical community, Charlotte Evergreen."
Out walked a beautiful young woman who was 5'10 and had golden blonde hair in two sperate ponytails. She had emerald, green eyes and was wearing light armor that covered her chest shoulders and hips. She was holding a rapier that had a silvery blue colour to it when the sunlight reflected off it. She stood elegantly with it by her side while awaiting her opponent.
"And next is the other half of the top two in the school. He is also expected to become a Great Mage and not only possibly the next leader of the magical community but also a vital role model for those who come from nothing. He was once a refugee but now our school leader, Marco Godfrey."
Out walked a young man that was 6'2 and very muscular. You could see how much the guy had trained because of all the way his muscles had formed around his shoulders. He had short white hair and light brown eyes. He carried with him a katana that had a white and gold sheath and grip. When he took out his blade to show the crowd some noticed that it had a unique blade pattern that made it stand out. It was wavy but at the top of each wave there was a tinge of red that was barely visible to the naked eye.
'These two have become strong to have crafted such weapons. To be able to give the blade an elemental affinity is extremely difficult for even professionals. To be able to that as a student is an outstanding achievement and will make them known as great forgemasters and swordsmiths. This level of expertise is only possible thanks to their extreme rivalry. I can't wait to see what they come up with when they leave school.' Professor Nara thought to himself after looking at the two competitor's weapons.
