Chapter 5 - The Arya

We all have that one opportunity we've all missed and hoped for another chance, haven't we?

RECAP

"This hell like situation is her daily routine."

My eyes were all glassy by now and my sight was blurred.

Ethan stood up from his seat, still couldn't believe what he just heard. He didn't speak a word, not that he ran out of those, it seemed like he lost his voice, totally heartbroken he made his way out of my cabin.

I, too, couldn't trust my senses anymore and therefore decided* *against driving back home and slept on the couch meant for visitors.

Ch 05- The Arya

Author's POV

"….what an earth is this book?" Sighed frustrated Lily as she finds her heading spinning and throbbing continuously. She directly blamed the book for messing up with her mind.

Well, however she found it impossible tear her eyes off all the strange things she's reading about the kingdom and its weird ways of running.

"Arya" something rung her ears as she read that word. Why that one word had such an incredible effect on her? A freaking adrenaline rush!

She further read in hopes of finding out anything that could pass as an answer and….she did.

'Arya'. A term used to mention the crowned princess/prince. And how's the crowned princess/prince decided, you ask? Well it's strange but here it goes how…

All the king's children are considered as potential candidates for this. The day a child, in whose the royal blood flows, turns eighteen is the day his/her position in the royal household is decided. Either be crowned and carry the name 'Arya' or just remain a royal family member.

Their fate is revealed in a rather strange way. On the perfect midnight of their birthday, A unique hieroglyph appears on the left thigh. The sole purpose of this appearance is to declare them as the next Ruler. People say it's 'the seven lord's' way of letting people know their next ruler they chose for them. As to how much of a fact it is? It is just a rumour, a considerable one.

It basically is a reputedly sharp two-edged sword with a delicate curvy crescent moon at the top of the hilt, a noble flexuous serpent curving along the full length of the sky metal blade positioning its head near the Quillon (cross guard) and the tail terminating at the point.

The appearance of it declares the bearer's worth over every other person. And if it doesn't show up, then not worthy. Simple as that.

This has been in practice for as long as the kingdom was born. And its people trust it with all their heart as not once the appearance of the hieroglyph was misleading. Every ruler ran the kingdom with full pledged honesty, protecting the place and its people with bravery and has lived up to it. They all proved their worth. None of them didn't ever did anything that could taint the legacy.

Lily's POV

I was stirred awake from my sleep by the loud rattling noises of the wooden blinds. I found the windows were left open. The eye blinding lightning flashed through the windows illuminating the room. A loud thunder followed it initiating a wave of anxiety attack on me. I'm not someone who'd get anxiety on thunderstorms. I was completely fine with those, unlike right now. I guess it may be because I'm weaker than ever before. But something really seems off.

I thought I should call for a nurse but decided against it and went on to handle myself. I sat up and brought my knees together, curling my whole body into a small ball. I wrapped my blanket around my frame and started rocking back and forth. I took in large amounts of air to stabilise my racing heart. I felt slow stability in myself and when I felt a bit better, I relaxed my balled up form. I stretched myself, drank some water and laid back to sleep. But I guess I was wrong.

The thunderstorm wouldn't cease any soon. It was so freaking loud making it impossible for me to sleep. I just laid there on my bed shifting and turning time to time.

And again I felt the same uneasiness, and I should add, it's worsened this time. I looked up to the table to grab water. I just couldn't reach. I looked at the bell meant for emergencies, I couldn't reach that either. That is when I was sure 'I couldn't move'!

I heard the ECG beeping like crazy, the green lines were moving in a messed up frequency. All the instruments measuring my different organ's functions were reaching all dangerous levels, beeping like crazy. As I was looking around with panic, I found the drawer I placed all my novels and the red sword necklace, had a flashy light ejecting through the slit open. Something was going wrong in there, what was it?

But I was already too busy in breathing which is now near to impossible. A realisation of this is my last day hit me halting my struggles. This is it. It's done, Lily. Time's up, girl. I couldn't think of anything else.

Gavin! My Gavin! I want, at least, to be by my side. I want to confess all my feelings towards him. I desperately want him to appear here.

But I was convinced I didn't stand a chance of it anymore since black dots started to appear. My eyelids fought their war in helping me stay awake, but eventually lost. The already dark room, only grew darker and blurrier on every passing second.

I saw Gavin, Mason, Dr. Grey and Nanny Marry, all of them in a single frame, smiling widely with sparkling eyes. I too smiled weakly at my mind's tricks. Their faces started to blur too and just like that blackness acquired the whole place. I closed my eyes, the crazy rhythmic beeping ECG now halted the rhythm and continued with one long continuous, endless beep….. While I went into a one long continuous, endless sleep.
