> I knocked a door of nothingness and it showed me I'm something in some other place.
RECAP
I saw Gavin, Mason, Dr. Grey and Nanny Marry, all of them in a single frame, smiling widely with sparkling eyes. I too smiled weakly at my mind's tricks. Their faces started to blur too and just like that blackness acquired the whole place. I closed my eyes, the crazy rhythmic beeping ECG now halted the rhythm and continued with one long continuous, endless beep….. While I went into a one long continuous, endless sleep.
Ch 06- Dr. Grey in armour
Lily's POV
"That's super strange", "Did the sun rise in the wrong direction?", "Or did …..did the rainbow lose all its colours?" Mumbling sounds all around
"Miss!" A sweet woman's voice
…..
"Miss, wake up!" Again. Louder.
…..uhh? …..
"It's already too late, Miss!" Again. Louder. Clearer.
….wha..wha….t?
"Miss, please don't make it hard for me"
.
.
"VIVIENNE!!!" A ear deafening growling of a genuinely pissed mountain of a man. An old man, precisely. And there! I woke no jolted up!
"Dr. Grey?" I started checking him. His attire? What on earth? Did he just come back from performing an acting gig or something?
"What ? Dr. Grey? I'm your father!"
I filled the air with a crazy loud laughter. Father? As in the one whose DNA flows in me? My mom's husband? Certainly not!
"Enough of joking around, Dr. Grey! This is so unlike you. And you know what? You just proved it." I said between my laughter.
I paused when I was out of breath. "And what's this you're wearing? An Armour? Where's your white coat?" I eyed him again "I know doctors are warriors in a way, but you didn't have to carry it around this way. I mean—"
Splash!
What in the everlasting heck is happening?!
"Who's that prick !?" I angrily brushed my head against the air.
I found another man. Beside Dr. Grey. A rusty empty bucket in his hand. And obviously in an armour.
"I'm sorry Vivienne" he scratched the back of his neck. "I had to follow General's orders, but we're still friends right?"
"Friends? General?" I was clearly confused as I should be.
But wait! Where am I?
I looked around again, taking in every details of where I am, right now. I'm astonished, is an understatement. I'm miles beyond it.
Like… I'm not even in my room to begin with! The glucose stand is missing, the drawer where I keep my books, the ECG and other instruments all vanished in thin air.
Everything is gone, I'm not in the same room! I'm in some very uncomfortable bed. And over my head and all around me aren't walls but some luxurious Persian curtains. A camping tent, it is!
"Vivienne" Dr. Grey called the name again. I turned towards him as if I actually am Vivienne.
"Huh ?" My reflexes are twisted, I guess.
"What happened to you, daughter ?" A voice with concerns and commands. Rare combination
"There you go! That's exactly what I'm wondering too. Please let me know if you got the answer" I said and I was dead honest.
"Did you bang your head on something? You are not at all here since last night. And…and the way you speak, Vivienne, are you really you?" The man with the bucket furrowed his thick eyebrows so hard, now they seem to form a straight line across his forehead.
But his words sure did ring something. 'Last night'
Last night, I thought I was dead. Game over! But no? I'm…I'm not dead? So if I'm still living, which I'm not sure, why am I here? It's like I'm not in the same century, to begin with. Look at my surroundings, anyone with a straight mind would spot the difference. None of what I see is 21st century. It's way behind it. I guess it dates back to decades before even the medieval times.
Give me a break, goddamn it!
"Daughter! Your disrespectful attitude is crossing all limits since morning. You, very well know I'm not going to tolerate such behaviour" This version of Dr. Grey is intimidating as hell. Not at all the one I'm used to.
But two things are for sure. One, I'm not where I'm supposed to be. Two, Dr. Grey somehow ended up as my dad. At least according to him.
"Yes, Dad…huh…. Sorry…." It's super awkward. Lemme vanish please!
"Dad?" His jaw clenched. Scary as hell
Oh I messed up!
"I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused by me, father. Please forgive me this once and I swear on my…."
"On my what? Think Lily!" I scolded myself and instantly with vague words I continued
"…on my reputation as Vivienne, Dr. Grey… I mean, The General's daughter, to never repeat such disrespect in any aspects of life" I went on a backbreaking bow. Never thought my reading books could come handy in making such sophisticated sentences.
After a long minute of silence he finally spoke.
"Apology accepted"
Yes! Lily scoreboard update- 01
"Thank you, Father" I raised and bowed again.
"Now freshen up and run 10 laps around the camp!"
Dun.Dun! Lily scoreboard update- 000000
"What? How? My-my long apology?" My tongue rolled off some random words which were meant to be questions.
"I repeat, Apology accepted, Daughter" he said in that powerful voice and turned. He marched out of the tent before I could even speak anything.
"C'mon Vivienne! You're everything but a coward" the bucket man spoke. "At least not someone who's afraid to take a punishment they decided"
"What do you mean?"
"Don't you remember? You were the one who came up with this. You set the rule. 'Forgive but don't forget' that's what you said "
"I see…. I'm apparently a girl whose name starts with a B and ends with I,T,C,H" I thought to myself "but wait! I set the rules? Hmm… I guess I'm quite powerful and reputable woman over here"
"Miss, would you like some water? "
"Nah, I'm good. That bucket man over there poured enough water on me to become frozen queen, Elsa" I spat my irritation out.
"Frozen queen, Elsa ? Who's that?" The bucket man was now seriously confused. "What made Queen Elsa, freeze?"
"Is she a powerful queen?" The lady enquired
"Does she poses any threat for our nation?" Bucket man added "How come I've never heard of her….Elsa?"
"WILL YOU STOP BOTHERING ME!!!" I yelled at both of them for which they both flinched
"what did I even do to deserve this?!"
