Hena woke up in a seemingly elegant room. At a glance, she thought she was back in her chambers at the North Kingdom. The more her eyes focused on where she was, the princess finally realized where she was.
When she looked around the room, she was surprised at the different styles of furniture and architectural design there. The rooms were lit in the lamp-light glow, electric rays spreading as petals upon the walls.
The whole room boasted its sleek and minimalist bedroom still spoke to luxury but it does so in a whisper. From simple white gauze curtains to a long and low bed there is nothing here that isn't necessary.
Chocolatey brown bedding and walls are neutral but still rich while a stunning vanity and metal accents reminded her of vampires.
Her stare fell on her clothes as she was surprised at how she was already wearing a different set of clothes. Before she could even voice out her thoughts, he saw a gorgeous woman who appeared to have the same facial features as the vampire prince.
"You're up already, my child."
The old lady appeared gentle and seemed to be the nicest person on Earth. She reminded Hena of her grandmothers who make those beautiful chocolate éclairs that all grandchildren love in the North Kingdom.
Her hair has gunmetal grey and is long and lush. Her eyes appeared milky when she is tired but when her gaze fell on Hena, they started gleaming with red.
Another vampire.
Her face can appear world-weary at times also but usually, she is active and alert.
Hena had always been scared of supernatural beings that surrounded the kingdom and never dared to cross the borders. But it turned out that she was scared of the wrong people.
One thing that human beings have is greed.
And when they start acting on it, that's when things started to change.
Humans were much more capable of doing a lot of things.
"May I know who you are, ma'am?" asked Hena to the old woman.
"I am Rachel," the old woman replied with a small giggle as she approached her. "It's a bit embarrassing to say it myself but I am the queen of the East Kingdom."
It turned out to be the Queen of the East Kingdom. She was the one who changed the princess's clothes.
The princess immediately stood up and bowed her head, "Your Majesty."
As it was the start of the cold weather, her fingers get slightly inflamed from the cold. Hena noticed how the Queen of the East King appeared simple and elegant. She has the most angelic smile she had ever seen and, even though her voice can appear feeble at times, she appeared avery healthy.
"You must have had a lot of questions, dear," the queen returned the respectful gesture by bowing her head.
"That is right," Hena nodded as her stare went to the Queen. She also had that jet black hair and tantalizing red eyes, similar to the vampire prince who saved her from getting assassinated. "I wanted to know more about why I'm here."
"A certain fairy priestess had already predicted the invasion of the South Kingdom"
"Fairy Priestess?" echoed Hena as she blinked twice.
"Yes, that's right." Queen Rachel responded with a soft voice. "That's the reason why they contacted the East Kingdom for help. And that is why you ended up here. We might be unable to stop your parents' death, but we were able to save you from death."
The princess's stare fell on the floor as she took a deep breath. A lot of things had already happened, and she had to take the next few steps carefully if she wanted to reclaim the North Kingdom back to the enemies' possession.
"The relationship between the North Kingdom and East Kingdom had already started way before you were born," the queen explained. Her gaze fell on the princess who just appeared puzzled at the whole situation. She stood in front of her, cupped her face with her hand and guided her to look at her. "Several years ago, the East Kingdom had a debt from the North Kingdom. As a way to repay, the king and queen pleaded for them to save the princess's life and take her as the prince's wife at exactly her 23rd birthday."
"I understand." Hena's eyes became even more determined to do well. This might have been heaven's last chance for her to bounce back. "Your Majesty, I am considered a princess stripped off of her title in the North Kingdom. What can I do, what can I do to become someone valuable in this world?"
"Produce an heir," the queen majestically replied in strong voice. But her smile was somewhat ambiguous and comforting, as if she knew what would happen next. "I'll be by your side if you do that, dear."
"An heir..." Hena trailed off. "Prince Luka already said that I am his wife, does that mean I still had to produce an heir to the throne?"
"Even if you were already proclaimed as a wife, but don't produce an heir to the kingdom, nothing will change." The queen's facial hardened as her smile disappeared. "You have to choose who your allies are carefully, Princess Hena. Choose wisely."
The vampire queen knew that the princess wanted to reclaim her kingdom and lead there, but as long as she doesn't have any power, she won't be able to do so.
Although she might be the first wife, the vampire prince can acquire as many escorts as he wants. And whoever produces a male heir to the throne will become the second most powerful woman after the queen.
That was when she realized how she had already reached the bottom.
Their conversation suddenly ended when the vampire prince barged into the room.
"Well then," the queen cracked a smile as she took a few steps backward. "I'll leave the two of you for the time being."
The queen silently left the room without a word. And only when she was out of sight, her mind became more complicated with possible thoughts and actions.
The crowned prince in the East Kingdom, Prince Luka de Angelo was definitely the answer of all of this.
"Are you ready to offer yourself to me?"
