Chapter 47 - Rhongomyniad

Clairvoyance is a real bitch of a skill. I can definitely see why Gilgamesh despises it so.

I always loved my trips into Fate. By the nature of my arrival limiting my power I was able to fight thrilling battles against foes of similar caliber, even greater caliber for me to rise up against and overcome. That thrill of being balanced on a knife's edge made every trip wonderful for me.

Now my trip is ruined.

For I have seen the end, and it is fucking tight.

Clairvoyance allowed me to confidently activate Excalibur Galantine before the Arthurian response force sallied out of their keep to battle me. A wave of solar fire swept over the Lion Kings Knights and only those behind Lancelot and Mordred came through mostly intact as each countered my attack with their own sword beams.

Unfortunately for their men, I had already followed up with throwing Gae Bolg into the heart of their army.

Galantine's sea of fire scorched the stones and Gae Bolg's tactical nuke tore several city blocks apart. Tristan along with the majority of Artoria's army simply turned to smears on the ground, and Mordred, Lancelot, and Agravaine survived in descending order of wellness.

The fact that they survived at all is a credit to the strength of their legends.

Emmy, Kunou, and I charged forth each taking the correct enemy as guided my our instincts and precognitive ability, Emmy to finish Agravaine, Kunou to counter Mordred's gift allowing her to spam her noble phantasm at the cost of her life, and me for round two with Lancelot.

In an inversion of our last battle, I came into this fight the more powerful combatant, and with our skills absolutely equal I was able to throw Lancelot around like a child fighting an adult with each exchange. Despite this it was actually Mordred who fell first fighting Kunou, the anti-magic of Gae Dearg countering her magical armor perfectly, and the knight under the armor being unable to compete with my foxgirl step daughter in any metric.

Mordred fought with the power of her instincts, and Kunou not only had stronger instincts, but far greater skill and power. If Gawain could defeat Mordred easily at night, how much worse was it for her to fight an opponent stronger than Gawain in the daylight, with Arthur's instinct, and Lancelot's skill.

Emmy did me proud by emulating my stories of old and reminding the world why the helmet is the most important piece of armor when she split Agravaine's wig with a overhead strike, slaying the knight instantly.

When Mordred's and Agravaine's power joined my own I kicked Lancelot against a blacked stone wall and yanked Arondight from his hands while slowly pushing Galantine into his chest, using the Excalibur sister sword two pry through his armor and ribs to claim my prize.

Eating Lancelot for the second time granted me everything that made him special, and with both Arondight and Galantine in hand I skipped about, gleefully finishing off all the knights between me and Artoria.

I spotted Gae Bolg in the center of a crater and retrieved it, and soon joined Emmy wielding Clarent and Kunou with Agravaine's sword along with their spears.

Diarmuid would be so proud..

Interestingly enough as we fought on at a casual place we discovered our path bared by a weeping Mash.

"You will go no further!" she shouted with tears flowing down her cheeks.

"Mash, stop!" Ristuka shouted as he ran up from behind us, "What are you doing?"

"He…" Mash sobbed, "He killed and ate them."

"Guilty." I smiled a gore and fang filled grin, "I am after all the Cannibal King. My EX rank noble phantasm allows me to take attributes, skills, and even noble phantasms from each victim that I eat. Best results come from the heart and brain, but I can make a little sumthin sumthin work with whatever happens to be left so long as it isn't… you know… atoms, or ash, or pink mist. Paste is pretty much worthless as well."

"What a hideous Noble Phantasm for a 'Heroic Spirit'." DaVinci condemned with a voice full of scorn.

"My dear," I sighed, "I am a greater hero than anyone else recorded in the Throne of Heroes. The amount of lives I have saved are greater than the sum total you people hope to save by restoring the human order a thousand times over. The monsters I have slain make the carnage unleashed by the beasts seem small and sensical. So kindly shut your beautiful fucking face up before I decide that your mouth has written checks your pussy can't cash!"

"And you!" I wheeled around and pointed a finger at Mash, "The knight possessing that girl. All you are going to accomplish is killing her, so get out of my way."

I walked past Mash unopposed and from behind me I heard Emmy say, "Daddy put you in your place, bitch!"

What a scamp.

I encountered Rhongomyniad seated on her throne with blood dripping out of her nostrils looking exhausted. Arash in his final attack had taken out far more than a single attack with that glorious arrow, and by pressing our advantage the goddess had been unable to recover.

"Is this fate?" she asked, "That I must die every time we cross paths? That your arrival is the harbinger of the destruction of my goals?"

"What a pitiful being you are, Artoria." I sighed as I walked up and threw her out of her throne before taking my seat atop it, "Even after becoming a goddess, you still have such small and shortsighted dreams."

"I seek to save humanity." Artoria growled.

"Your goal of preserving the Pure Souls in stasis for all time is both pointless in its meaning and an offense against good taste." I denied, "As a goddess you should have dreamed bigger. Built bigger! ACHIEVED MORE!"

I stood back up from her throne and hoisted her up into the air by her neck.

"YOU SHOULD HAVE RIDDEN OUT WITH YOUR KNIGHTS AND TURNED BACK THE APOCALYPSE OR DIED TRYING!" I roared in her face, "Even if you failed it would have been a beautiful end! But all I see before me is defeatism, a loser! Is that all that is left inside you woman?"

She gasped and choked, but made not intelligible sounds so I dropped her in a heap upon the floor where she sucked in air but still made no response.

I knelt down and took her face between my hands, holding her vacant glowing green eyes with my own glowing golden ones. We stared at each other till I saw some form of emotion besides the intrinsic rage she always feels at the sight of me.

"How dare you judge me!" she shrieked in regret, "I did what I could. All I could. Followed the only plan with any chance of success!"

"You were always a fool." I told her, "Humanity is meaningless in stasis. All life is. Art, music, culture. Without these things sentient life is pointless. You were not preserving humanity, you were entombing yourself in vanity."

And finally, she wept.

The goddess Rhongomyniad does not have mortal values or reason, and she lacks wisdom, is willingly ignorant, but she is not stupid.

"Just end it." she cried, "There is nothing left."

I smiled, "Sure there is. You've been a shit King all your life. SO I think it's time you became a Queen! Come with me, away from this universe so obsessed with your suffering and sacrifice and defilement! Come suffer and sacrifice for me! And I can assure you, you will love getting defiled when I'm the one doing it."

She didn't look sold, but I didn't care. I had a pitch and I continued to sell it.

"Come see what a real kingdom greater than anything else in the world looks like. Perfect, cool, and clean, gilded parapets and graceful spires of gold and platinum, gleaming soldiers born aloft by shining wings and screaming engines. The greatest minds and the greatest masters creating wonders seen nowhere else! Can you see it in your mind's eye?" I asked and watched the haze of centuries clearing from her gaze.

As I saw hope finally enter her eyes I pulled her into a kiss.

She tasted of the blood and ashes of defeat, but I'd fill her with true joy and purpose.
