Chapter 14 - Chapter XII.2

Her head was swimming a little, feeling the effects of the alcohol sink in. She didn't have much, just three glasses, but the liquor she had was strong so it wouldn't have taken much more for her to get drunk, she knew that even though she didn't plan for it to happen. She put a hand on her head and let out a small giggle before sighing. "Dammit, I didn't think this would happen," "Didn't think what would happen?" Someone asked as they sat next to her. "This. Me going out with my friends after it had been a long time since the last time. Me getting drunk. Just.. all of this." Kurmara voiced as she shook her head again, the small smile still on her face as she took another drink out of her glass. "If I'm honest, I didn't want to go out but it has been so long and I finally said yes because I missed hanging out with them." "But don't you see them while you work?" The person asked and she nodded. "Of course I do, but it's not the same because we are focused on our work, and most of the time I'm helping with paperwork. Besides, I was hoping to see a certain person with everyone as well." "Really? And who would that be?"

"A guy I became friends with back when we were in high school. We're still friends, I think. He doesn't talk to anyone anymore and I get it, being a hero isn't easy. Especially if we're all trying to rise up." She let out a sigh as she downed the rest of her drink. "We.. dated for a few years as well until.. something happened and we decided to break it off because it got too crazy and we couldn't see each other as much." "We did say we would stay friends though so we wouldn't lose communication, but look what happened..." "Well, what was the reason you were hoping to see him here?" The person asked and she poured some more alcohol into her cup. "I... I wanted to talk with him, considering that it's been at least seven months since we've talked. Hell, since anyone has talked to him.." Kurmara said as she took a sip. "What would you say to him?" "I don't know... I'm still trying to figure that out..." They sat in silence before she looked over at who she was talking to and tilted her head. "You know, you kind of look like him." She commented and they looked at her. "Oh really? How so?" "The hair. The way it's down and the colour of it.. but it could just be the lighting." She voiced as she stared at them for a while before turning away.

"Well, you look like someone I know too," they said and she looked back at them. "Really?" "Yeah. Your height reminds me of them." He said as they flashed a smile at her which made her face heat up and caused her to squint her eyes at him. "Why does that seem kind of rude to me?" She questioned and he laughed. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to sound rude. I just meant that you're short and cute like them." He explained and she nodded. "Okay, I just thought you were making fun of my height." "Oh no, no, I wouldn't do that as it would be majorly rude and disrespectful to you." Kurmara chuckled lightly as she sipped her drink. "You know, the amount of time it's been since I've seen that person has been about the same as you.." "Oh yeah?" "Yeah." "Were you guys friends too?" "We were. You could say we were lovers at one point too." "Ah." They were silent again, the sound of the music playing in the background. "Do you miss them?" Kurmara queried. "Of course I do." "Do you wish you could see them again?" "Always." "Have you tried talking to them? Like tried to say anything or check on them?" Kurmara asked and he didn't speak, but it answered her question.

"If you saw them right now, what would you do? What would you say if you would say anything at all?" "I don't know what I would say, but I know what I would do." He voiced and she looked at him again. "What would that be?" She asked and the guy sat a bit closer to her. "Something I've been wanting to do again.." "And what is that, exactly?" Kurmara asked, unaware that his face had gotten closer to hers. The smell of cologne filled her senses, making her slightly dizzy as if the alcohol had no effect. It felt familiar to her which had a sense of comfort to it. She pressed her body closer to him, waiting for something to happen, either him moving away or one of her friends to come and accidentally stop what was currently progressing, but it didn't happen. "Do you have anything to say?" Kurmara asked, looking away from him but he gently turned her head back to face him again. "I'm sorry.." "Prove that you are then." She dared. "And how can I prove it?" "Do what you said you've been wanting to do." She voiced, slightly breathless as if she had just finished catching her breath.

"What if you get upset?" "If you just do it, that won't matter." She said and soon lips were pressed against hers. It was gentle, something she hasn't felt in a long time, so she enjoyed every second of it. She turned her body towards him, letting her hands snake up his arms, resting around his neck as she kissed him. Kurmara felt one of his hands rest on her thigh while the other caressed her face. It could've been the alcohol or the fact that this person reminded her so much of the one she craved to see again, but she didn't want to stop or let go of him as he made her feel comfortable but also something else. He kissed her softly, his lips gentle as he teased her slightly with his tongue before it switched, his mouth hard and demanding. Her breath caught in her throat as he ran his tongue along her teeth, sliding along her lips in a caress that was utterly foreign. They pulled away from the kiss, breathless, and she wanted more but she knew that if she went any further, she would regret doing it while drunk. He rested his forehead against hers.

"Does that prove that I'm sorry?" He asked and she let out a small sigh. "I don't know... I feel like you have to prove it more in different ways, Kiri." She voiced as she sat up and looked at him. "I really am sorry, I just-" "I don't need excuses and you know that, so please save it." She wasn't trying to be rude, but the liquor in her system made it sound like it and made her feel upset. These damn emotions and this damn alcohol are not a great mix... She thought as she still drank the rest of what she had left in her glass. "I know that, but I don't have excuses, just an explanation." "I think it's best if you don't explain tonight. Considering I'm not the only one who needs it." She said to him and he nodded. "I know, but I hope you know that I am sorry..." "Of course I know. I just hope you're not going to leave and disappear again." He was silent which made her nervous but also upset. "If you are, just tell me now so I can deal with the pain of it later." "I'm not going to disappear again.." "How the hell can I be so sure if that? How the hell can anyone else be so sure of that? Hm? Tell me that, Kirishima."

Kurmara was drunk and starting to let the hurt she had been feeling show which mixed with her anger at him and he gave a sad sigh before he grabbed her hand. "I can't promise anything because I'm not so sure myself, but I do know that I won't be disappearing again as I did. That wasn't fair to you and that wasn't fair to our friends. I didn't mean for that to happen the way it did... I hope you can forgive me for that." He apologized again and kissed the back of her hand, making her let out a sigh as she felt the anger turn into sadness. "I just... We didn't know what happened.. and it.. gods Kiri." She shook her head as she felt tears sting her eyes but she refused to cry. "The thing that hurts the most is that... I always hoped you would get back to us.. get back to me... But it ended up becoming months which.. pissed me off. It pissed everyone off and made them upset as well." She said to him. "We were curious as to what you were doing, when you would be able to get together with everyone, but we got nothing but fucking radio silence!" There it was, the hurt and anger she felt that had been hidden deep inside her.

"What the hell! I feel like I might've been the one most upset about it because of the shit between us." Her emotions were coming out which caused her Quirk to activate which wasn't good, especially considering she had been drinking that night so she wouldn't be able to contain it very well like she could when she was sober. He felt the pain and anger she was feeling and he understood that he caused it, knowing that the others felt exactly the way she did. "Kurmara.." he began but stopped when she lifted a hand as if to silence him. "I know.. but I have to let this out otherwise it'll build up and get worse." "Then why don't we go outside? You can get some fresh air and we can talk a little more?" Kirishima suggested and she gave a little nod. "That.. that sounds like a good idea..." She voiced and he helped her stand as the two of them walked towards the front of the club and out the doors. The cool night air hit Kurmara, making her shiver. She took a deep breath, her head spinning a little, and soon, tears rolled down her cheeks. "Gods.. why the hell did you-" She got interrupted by Kirishima pulling her into a hug, catching her by surprise.

"I'm so sorry I just left without another word. I didn't mean to worry you or anyone else but everything just happened one after the other and I had no time to do anything else. You might think of this as an excuse, but if you guys were there to see then you'd know.." He voiced and she hugged him tightly, the tears still flowing. They hugged each other before he pulled away and kissed her forehead, wiping the tears from her cheeks. "I won't leave the way I did again." He voiced and she nodded. "But if you do, try to.. at least say something so we know..." "If it happens, which I hope it doesn't, I will say something." "You better, or else." Kirishima gave a light chuckle before hugging her again. "My head hurts," Kurmara spoke up as she closed her eyes. "That might be the booze finally speaking. Want me to take you home?" He asked and she nodded. "Please. I just need.. to grab my phone..." Her stomach began to twist making her mouth water and she let out a small groan as she pulled away from the hug. "You alright?" He asked and she shook her head. "N.. no. I feel like I'm-" She turned away from him as she emptied her stomach into a bush.

Guess the liquor and snacks don't agree with each other... She thought as she spit before leaning against the building to support herself to try and stop her spinning head. "I'll quickly go back inside and grab your phone." "Thank you, Eij." Kurmara breathed out as she sat down, gently pressing her eyes to help with the ache they felt. She heard him walk away back into the nightclub and let out a sigh. "Gods.. my head hurts.." She said to herself. "Maybe you shouldn't drink so much then." A voice spoke to her and she peeked up to see someone wearing a hoodie standing next to her. "I didn't plan for my getting drunk tonight. I thought it was just.. going to be hanging out and dancing.." She responded, pressing her eyes again. "No one plans on getting drunk, but it always usually happens anyways." The person responded which made her let out a sound that was a mixture of a scoff and a laugh. "You're not wrong there." She said before feeling her stomach twist again. "Oh, gods-" She turned to the side and retched again. When she was done, it left her throat burning, stomach empty and her head pounding.

"Shit," Kurmara mumbled as she rubbed her head. There was something cold pressed against her temple and she looked to see the person holding a water bottle. "Here, maybe this'll help. If not, you need it anyways." They spoke as they held it, waiting for her to grab it. She stared at the water bottle for a second longer before reaching up and grabbing it, muttering a thanks before opening it and taking a sip. She rinsed her mouth out a few times before taking a small drink. "Water is always better," she giggled lightly. "It always is. Your friend looks like they're coming out now." The person said as they walked past her and Kurmara looked towards the door of the nightclub. "Thanks again for the water.." Kurmara said to them. "Don't worry about it, Hayashi." She swiftly turned her head to where the person was but didn't see them. She quickly stood up only to instantly regret it when little stars scattered her eyes and she leaned against the building to not fall over. "What the hell-" "Kurmara," She looked behind her to see Kirishima holding up her phone as he walked over to her. "Come on, let's get you home." He said as he helped her to his car.

"How is your head?" He queried. "It's pounding. As if someone is hitting me repeatedly with something." She retorted as she got in the passenger seat. "Well, I'll have you home so you can sleep it off." Kurmara just nodded as she closed her eyes.
