Alex was shocked. He can't understand what Pamela was saying or what she meant. She looks too confident but sometimes her facial expression betrayed her thoughts. "If Duke calls you perhaps all the time it doesn't mean he needs you or wants you here!" Alex's voice shot up.
Suddenly Pamela's countenance changed. She felt Alex had forgotten history—history of the family so soon. Perhaps the luxury he now enjoys has erased the most treasured history from his head. "You don't seem to keep your memories intact Alex and I see you are weak and Duke is stronger. All you ever knew was how to make wealth and nothing more—there are magical powers in our family, Alex and Duke's key have not been given to him because you don't—"
"No, I won't mother." Alex became furious. "It is too dangerous and I don't like it when you keep on reminding me and you know what Mum? That's why I decided to be left alone because you are always reminding me of what is evil and—"
"Don't you talk back at me son," Pamela pointed her walking stick at Alex angrily. "The powers inside of you are already consuming you. Don't you see how you look? It is in our blood Alex. You can't run away from it. The moment you think you can. The more it overwhelms you Alex—can't you read the signs on the wall. Zolin died because she never wanted the life she feared for Duke and now you want to die also? Let that boy's key be released to him and let him act—"
"Act by killing and what else mother, tell me?"Alex's voice became loud but Pamela intruded.
"You can't stop what has already begun Alex and you know it—I came so the process is not hindered and you can't dare drive me out of your house and Donna can't do that either. Duke's Key must be released to him or—"
"Or what mother?" Alex stood up angrily now breathing up as though he wants to fight.
Fight her mother or ills the magical powers have unleashed on his family lineage all through the years?
Alex has been able to bury his key in a bottle of oil in the ground. And that has helped limit the evil powers at work in him. But that of Duke must be buried by Duke when he turns eighteen or he will never live a normal life but a life of influence by the powers that are so invisible but devouring.
But why is Pamela so interested even when Duke hasn't turned eighteen yet?
What exactly does she want from Duke?
He wants Duke to live a normal life like him and not be controlled by magical powers inherited from their grandfathers because that was what they felt will make them more influential and that was then. But such powers are still been passed from one generation to the next and Pamela has also been a major distributor of such powers to the family tree. And now it was Duke's turn and Alex was not ready to let that happen because he felt Pamela who he has been suspicious of her evil manipulative tendencies has an interior motive for Duke.
An interior motive he still finds difficult to uncover. "Mother if you came here because of this. I am afraid I won't listen to you—this is my family—"
"It is my too Alex. Without me, there can be no you. You can't be smarter than your mother now Alex. Agreed I am old but my senses are still intact. I got no amnesia as you thought before, son. You must give the key to me and Duke will do the bidding of the powers—"
"Mother, are you out of your mind—the people in Lisbon will see horror they've never seen before and—"
"Let them see, son. And besides, the world we live in is full of love and hate, darkness and light. Both are needed to balance the equation otherwise the world can't be a better place to live in." Pamela said, smiling. "The world is magical Alex, the more power we possess. The more control we have over humans—"
"No mother, we can't do this—never." Alex became uncontrollable. He knew this is what he never wanted and with Pamela now around. He now wonders for how long he can hold on. "Most of the evil in the past you caused it mother—the plane crash, the train accident. Many families died and so many tears—"
"Evil did all of that and not me, son. Point your filthy hand to evil and not me. I was only an agent and nothing more—"
"What?" Alex blustered "Can't you hear yourself talk at least for a moment—you can't be kidding me, Mother. What sort of evil will take so many lives and don't even care?" Alex flared.
It was obvious Pamela was driving him crazy now. And Pamela was ready to soak every word of Alex. She doesn't even bother what Alex said for as far as she was concerned he was still that little child of yesterday sucking her breasts and biting her nipples. "Don't keep yelling at me son. You may say anything you like to hear but certainly not for my ears—where is my grandson, Duke?" She kept on looking around from where she sat.
Alex ignored and Pamela knew he will but she knew she had only just arrived and everything will soon change and not even Donna can stop her.
Staring at the wall clock ahead of her she knew it was only a matter of time for Duke to return from Moleaf High.
Crossing her legs once more, she looked away. And this time, she sat quietly not eager to engage Alex anymore in what she felt was more like a fruitless and endless conversation.
Yawning, she sat back on her chair and her walking stick. She left to roll on the floor near to her.
"She is still a virgin but I am afraid the drug she took wasn't ordinary. I only hope when she comes around she will communicate more fluently. But right now she is still unconscious." Doctor Handerson's eyes were now on Bruno and Annora who still finds it difficult to understand how Sandra got into this messy situation with Duke.
Sandra was brought into the hospital two hours ago when she walked home late from nowhere but Collins suspects it must have been from Alex Rexon's residence.
What a hell did they do to her?
Bruno never stopped thinking. "Doctor Handerson, do you think she will pull through this—"
"You don't have to worry Mr. Bruno Strullid." Doctor Handerson's thick voice stopped him. "I believe she will. Some rest will do and with a few drugs administered already, that will suffice. She will, certainly."
Bruno shifted his gaze at Annora and then back at Doctor Handerson. "Thanks, Doctor—I guess we just wait around and—"
"Suit yourself, Mr. Bruno, she will be fine. Please excuse me." Doctor Handerson walked away.
Annora felt bad. She felt Sandra has gone far this time.
Why did she accept a drink from Duke?
The doctor had said the drink was poisoned with sleeping pills.
But what on earth will make Duke do that?
Was he planning to rape Sandra?
And why did Sandra fall into this deadly trap?
What if Sandra never wakes up and then—"
Her thoughts dropped when Bruno's words drove in. "Alex Rexon and his son must pay for this. They can't threaten my daughter like this and think they can get away—no way. They must be ready to face me and—"
"Don't take this too personally. We must find out why Duke did this and if he was the one. Besides Sandra got other friends too you know—"
Annora was stopped again. "No, Sandra loves the Madonnas, and ever since their departure, she has never stopped visiting that house even when she knows terror now lives there and you know what? I don't seem to get it. Why her senses have refused to accept the realities of the time."
Collins sat down listening to the ongoing conversation between Dad and Mum but was sure Duke did it.
But why did Sandra allow that?
Why was she so easily fooled?
She always loved the red wine and the home of Alex Rexon was the only place she knew she will always find it just like the Madonnas but then why did she allow the deceit?
Red wine mixed with sleeping pills that's what the doctor said but why the sleeping pills?
Duke wanted to rape my sister and then what?
