I turned to him, feeling myself tear up. Two weeks of freedom? When someone releases him from that portrait? I kept my eyes on the dog, unwilling to even look at him.
I didn't know what I would see in his eyes, and I wasn't sure what I would do.
Am I the one who released him? How did I do it?
"You will know soon. Take my hand and we'll go to a journey through time."
I turned to look at him now, and rather than sad, he looked expectant. Like this was something he really needed me to know, and he couldn't wait.
I nodded and gave him my hand, and he pulled me towards him, then wrapped his arms around my waist.
My heart started to thump hard in my chest. It felt like something had shifted in my heart about him, and this was what he was with me for.
I cleared my throat and looked down at my feet. "Let's go now?"
He smiled, then lifted my chin with a finger. "Of course," He said and before I could take my next breath, he leaned in slowly.
