Chereads / A Noble Rebel / Chapter 59 - Chapter 58

Chapter 59 - Chapter 58

Jia stopped crying a few and was just sniffing. She quickly realized that she wasn`t standing anymore but she was sitting on the floor on the balcony, leaning against Dylan. She leaned back and wiped her tears. Dylan was leaning against the wall with one hand still on her back and other on his leg.

"Sorry," Jia whispered.

Dylan sighed and pursed his lips, "I`ll understand if you want to throw the necklace away, you know."

The lightning sorceress paused. Did she hear him right? She glanced up at his face and saw that he was serious about what he had said, she moved to caress the charm necklace. Dylan watched her carefully for a moment or two before she shook her head, "No, I won`t. Because you made it as well, and you and I are..."

"We`ll be okay. You`ll be okay, everything will work out," Dylan promised her.

She gave him a grateful smile, "Of course..." She then frowned.

"What is it?" Dylan asked, leaning forward.

Jia glanced up and saw that the barrier was still up and shimmering in the night. She swung her gaze back to Dylan who was watching her carefully, "How did you get past the barrier?"

Dylan bit his lower lip, "I…had a little help," He then nodded at something over her shoulder. Jia turned and smiled when she saw a familiar glow in front of her, instantly knowing who it was, "Elina?"

A whisper was heard and Jia turned to completely give the Fair Folk her full attention.

"She said, she felt your pain and came to check on you," Dylan translated.

Jia glanced over her shoulder at the Knight," You can understand her? So you have the tattoo?"

Dylan frowned at her," Tattoo?"

"The one that enables you to hear them," Jia clarified.

"Oh that tattoo," Dylan then shook his head," I didn`t need it."

Jia`s eyes widened, "What?"

Elina stated to whisper again so Jia turned back to her," What is it?"

"She said that she senses that something has been bothering you lately," Tristan translated," A strange power that has been trying to get to you."

Jia placed a hand on her head," My visions and dreams."

"You`ve been having dreams and vision?"

Jia nodded," Yeah, about a girl and boy. In a world where there are dragon riders and huge dogs. Like werewolves."

Dylan`s eyebrows rose high and Jia gave him a sad smile," I know. Crazy right? Those things are just stories. Myths."

"All stores have some truth to them, we just don`t know for ourselves," Dylan pointed out.

Elina then whispered so both teenagers turned to face her. An orb then appeared in front of them. Jia watched as it floated until it disappeared into her necklace," What is it?"

"She said that when everything is at an end…it will bring you back," Dylan explained but he sounded confused as if the explanation didn`t make sense to him as well," She says that whatever`s happening, she cannot help until you come back?"

"Come back?" Jia asked.

"Where will she come back from?" Dylan asked.

A whisper was heard and Dylan leaned back, gritting his teeth," She won`t say anything more."

"Well, isn`t that convenient," Jia remarked sarcastically. She then yawned and stretched before blinking away the tears from her eyes.

"You`re tired," Dylan observed," Come on, time to get some sleep."

When he tried to stand, Jia instead leaned back against him and closed her eyes. He froze for a second before relaxing. Jia's arms were tucked against her chest in an effort to warm them up. He gently put a hand to cradle her head while on another on her back. He noticed that not once did her accidental magic act out against him. Jia sighed and closed her eyes, "Will you stay with me? Just for a little while?"

She then heard him whisper, "Of course."

Another whisper was heard before Elina began to disappear.

"Thank you," Dylan said out loud when a warm sensation flew across them both. Dylan stiffened for a second before staring at Elina," That`s…that`s impossible."

"What`s impossible?" Jia mumbled groggily.

"Nothing," Dylan answered. Although, inside him, there was sea of emotions brewing. This is being just wrong.

"I still don`t," Jia then yawned again," Understand how you can hear them?"

"I`ve always been able to hear them, Jia. Now sleep," His hand that was cradling her head push her further in against his chest," Everything will be okay tomorrow."

When Dylan finally felt that Jia was deep asleep, he estimated it was past midnight. He carefully maneuvered her before he stood with her in his arms. Luckily the Balcony doors were still open so he silently made his way back in and stepped around the junk food mess on their floor. He shook his head as he imagined the amount of work they had to do leaning when they woke up in the morning.

"Dylan?" Zoey mumbled groggily as she watched the Knight put her friend down in bed next to Fiona before covering her up. She watched him push a stray curl from her face aside before he turned to Zoey," Let her sleep. Chase and I will handle Roy and Tristan."

Zoey nodded before she saw him leave through the balcony doors. With a flick of her wrist, the locks came clicked. The sorceress then turned in her bed and went back to sleep.

When Zoey finally woke up again, it was morning. She blinked and turned in bed to see Clary still asleep with Rose. They were both facing her and Clary was snoring softy. Not that loud and annoying but sort of like a low drone.

She then checked her roommate`s bed and saw that only Fiona was in bed. Kyra and Jia were missing. She sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes before scanning the room. When she finally checks the balcony, she sees that Jia was outside with Kyra. Kyra was talking on the phone and Jia was sitting on the balcony railing, facing her.

The gravity sorceress pushed back her clovers before sliding out. She tucked the excess covers around Clary who snuggled in and sighed happily.

Zoey smiled before making her way out onto the balcony. Outside, Jia watched with a worried expression as Kyra nodded at something Mike said before she hung up. Jia sighed and turned to see Zoey step out and greet them.

"How are you feeling?" Jia asked.

"I think I should be asking you that question," Zoey said as she moved to sit beside Jia," How did your talk with Dylan go last night?"

Kyra paused from her phone call and turned to Jia turned red in the cheeks," Dylan! Was here last night?!"

Jia glared at Zoey who giggled, "He just came to check up on me."

"And tuck you back into bed after midnight," Zoey added cheekily.

Kyra made a shrieking sound before apologizing to Mike. She then explained that she would talk to him later and to keep her updated. After she ended the call and putting her phone down on the railing, she moved to grab Jia`s shoulders before shaking them as if to put some sense into her lighting wielding friend," Why didn`t you tell me this?!"

"I just woke up few minutes ago and you were on the phone," Jia pointed out. She then pushed her friend`s hands off her shoulders.

"True but a morning phone call is no excuse for a hot Knight`s late night visit," Kyra reminded her with a wink.

"Try say seven times," Zoey dared the shadow sorceress.

Kyra opened her mouth to begin when Jia slapped a hand over it," Don`t. It`s too early for that."

Zoey giggled again as Kyra pushed her hand away with a mock hurt expression, she then tucked her hair back and sighed," Fine. But…I do have news to tell you."

Jia jerked her chin and Kyra folded her arms, "This morning, Tristan and Dylan had another fight in their arena before Mike and another Knight were able to stop them."

Jia leaned forward, "What?"

Kyra nodded, "Yeah, apparently, Dylan approached Tristan to talk but the Knight said something that ticked him off. Dylan threw the first punch and it got worse after that. Luckily, they didn`t use their weapons but they both had split lips and cuts over their cheeks and eyebrows."

Zoey hissed and muttered 'ouch' in sympathy. Physical fight injuries were really painful to Zoey who was a gentle soul.

"Do they know what fight was about?" Jia asked.

Zoey put a hand on her friend's shoulder, "Jia, it was about you. Even I can see that," She pointed out," Dylan was trying to get back at Tristan for breaking your heart."

Jia shook her head with vehemence," This is between Tristan and I. I don`t want him to get involved anymore and besides, he was just a crush or whatever, I won't be sulking over him."

Kyra fisted her hands on her hips, "Are you even hearing yourself? You`ve been a mess the whole week."

Jia turned bright red again but this time with embarrassment," I… I was sick."

"Yeah," Zoey confirmed as Jia nodded eagerly before Zoey continued," Sick with heart brokenness."

"Zoey!"

"You can`t lie that you`ve been down in the dumps about what Tristan did to you and you can`t stop Dylan from what he was doing," Kyra pointed out.

"He shouldn`t have to," Jia whispered to herself softly.

"I don`t think anyone can stop that boy form doing anything he wants," Zoey pointed out," Cole once told me that Dylan goes out even when curfew is up and the Head Master can`t stop him. He only tells him to do what he must and come back in time for classes."

Jia turned to Zoey, "Really?"

The gravity sorceress nodded, "Yeah, and he does make it back to school. He`s the best in adacmics but the other rules, he tends to bend them. Well, him and Tristan."

"Interesting," Kyra observed.

"Hey, Jia? "Zoey asked," If Tristan breaks up with Jasmine and all of Dylan`s attempts succeed and say that he asks you out, will you accept him?"

Jia paused and glanced up as the barrier around the school shimmered before going down," I…I don`t know how to answer that question..."

Kyra and Zoey exchanged worried glances.
